John K Posted August 26, 2019 Report Share Posted August 26, 2019 My generator starts and runs fr a few seconds then shuts down, I have changed the oil and filters but it still does the same. I'm thinking it's the oil pressure switch and was wondering if it's possible to test my switch, it worked fine one day and started this the next any thoughts ???? agesilaus Posted August 27, 2019 Report Share Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) The Champion gens have a small wire underneath the gen, think it might be red, with a connector in the middle. You can pull the connector apart and that disables the oil sensor. Don't know if yours has something like that but you may want to look. IIRC the Champion tech support guy said the wire can be different colors in various models. Anyway on mine you disconnect the sensor, start the gen, let it run for 10 mins and reconnect the sensor. It then started normally. Did you call your gen tech support. Champion is excellent, with support people in CA and somewhere up in the NE. John K Posted August 27, 2019 Author Report Share Posted August 27, 2019 My oil sensor Is mounted on top, I removed the lead metered it and tried starting it, same problem. John K Posted August 28, 2019 Author Report Share Posted August 28, 2019 For unknown reason it stated and continues to function ok. I suspect air may have entered the fuel line and after enough attempts to start it, it cleared itself. My best guess at this point. Thanks for all the suggestions. Bearaboo Posted September 2, 2019 Report Share Posted September 2, 2019 Not knowing how old the unit is, my guess would be the fuel line from the gas tank to the generator.
