Sniper
It is a shame that these sort of things within the V.A. Health Care System seem to have become almost common place. It makes one search for an answer to how anything like this could happen, and knowing it can happen, why it would take so long to notify the patient(s). I know that the V.A. system is not the best, I can honestly say that health care outside of the V.A. system is a train wreck ready to happen as well. (I take my elderly Mother to her Doctors and frankly the things I see at his office as well as the local hospital worry me). Having said this, I feel I get very good care at my local V.A. I have been in their system for more than a dozen years now, and have very few complaints. Welcome home and safe travels.
