Direct TV at vacation home options

Recommended Posts

We're still new to Direct TV with a Trav'ler and Genie installed about two months ago.

We have no service in our vacation home, and I was wondering about a few options to use the RV's setup while visiting the vacation home.

Questions, and then please, request for other suggestions:

1) What range can a wireless bridge support? Our RV and the Genie DVR are about 100-120' away. Three walls in he way to where the Genie Mini would be located.

2) If not wireless, what kind of wire is used to run between the Genie DVR and the Genie Mini? I would expect the wire run feed would be under 150'.

3) I could modify the Genie DVR to remove from the RV and move into the vacation home. If I did this, I was thinking I would buy a stand mounted dish, that I could then also take with us in the RV for times that the Trav'ler is blocked.

What other options should I consider? As I have an account designated as DNS, does this problematic?

TIA,

Smitty
