  1. Well, after tons of research we just made reservations for February and March in Corpus. Don't we make plans just so we can have something to break? After all, if the Weavers and the Parks can make plans this early, I figured we could too. Temperature averages are only a couple degrees cooler than the RGV area but having access to the Gulf seemed a little bit more inviting. Who knows? We only know if we made bad plans when they don't work out. We have no clue on January yet. However, I'm certain it won't take us a month to drive there.

IYQ -- Lee and MaryJane are close to you.

  2. in haines today watching the bears catch salmon.. catching the ferry to skagway tonight, some one told me i used to have relatives that lived ther during the gold rush, but they were run out of town on a rail, hmmm wonder what the reception will be ?

    beautifull weather even with rain

lavins we will see you in texas, gonna be going thru there some time

    take care all

    mike and deb

My suggestion would be to go in that town incognito if you have some type of resemblance to the relative they chased out of there! They just might recognize you otherwise! Would love to see the bears catching salmon! Take pictures. Be safe. Glad you're finally on the road again. Don't forget your marker so we can keep track of you .... or, get out of your way.

  3. Lavins - Hope you're safe and not rafting down the river in your motorhome. Check in and let us know how you handled it when you get a chance.

IYQ - You take care of yourself and get fixed up right. It's no fun when you aren't feeling well.

Our internet is so bad. Most of the time it takes forever just to get a website to pop up so I just try to stay off of it. We're hoping it's because it's summer and everyone else around the lake will be heading home soon. If not, we'll move back into town (ugh) after Labor Day and stick around for another month before we do something else. We still don't know where we're going to end up this winter just that it'll be someplace south of here ... California? Arizona? Nevada? Texas? Hmmm. That's a tough one. And, to think that Marsha and Loralie have already made reservations!

It's amazing how much we feel we're out of things when we don't have good internet. Thank goodness my blog is a couple weeks behind or I'd be sitting at a cyber cafe updating it!!

Now to see how long this will take to go through. The good thing is I've learned to copy something before I send it. That way I don't have to write it several times before it actually goes.

  4. I went to PT this morning and they had a 5 page consent form to sign. I read it and it allowed them the do or charge anything they desired and each paragraph was followed by a clause that said I have a right to dispute but they have a right to ignore my dispute if they deemed it necessary. The one clause that really ticked me off was one that said If your insurance doesn't pay the full amount we have billed we will bill you personally and if it is not pain in a timely manor we have the right to turn it over to a collection agent. I talked to one of the supervisors and she said well just initial anything you don't agree with. Initialing something on a legal document is considered agreeing with it. I told her that and she said well we can't treat you unless you sign the form. I told her in no way would I sign that form unless it was re-worded. That was the end of my PT. I had a booklet with all the exercises for the lower back but I've looked everywhere and can't find it. I must have tossed it out. I'll do a search tonight on the internet and see if I can't find an authoritive exercise program. I plan on making an appointment with an orthopedist so that I have something to fall back on and a source for information and a second opinion. The nerve relaxer that the doctor prescribed for me seems to be working pretty good. I've only taken 2 pills so far and I've only had to take the pain reliever twice. And one of them was to be able to go to Wal Mart and get groceries. I sleep like a baby now that I can lie on either side comfortably. The really bad news is I have to lay off the cranberry juice for a while. I'm going to start walking again but very slowly now that I know there is no major problem with my hip or spine.

We have had terrible, terrible internet. Those forms have a purpose. It's to cover themselves if they screw up. We received a dental bill once that we were expected to pay since our insurance company had refused to pay it. The reason they refused to pay it was because the dentist hadn't billed them until after the time limit had run out --- 3 1/2 years later.

Take care of yourself, Lee. We want you feeling good again.

  5. Not much to say except Ft. Casey was booked and now the Spiker RV Park is full. Manager at the park was out of town so we pulled into the empty sites. We were hoping to raid the wine cellar, crab bucket and freezer but the owner of the park pulled in before we had a chance. Neighbors complained about the RVs parked here. I guess his neighborhood is going downhill. I think it's the "trailer trash" bunch moving in.

  6. Hey, Jerry, check out the Escapee park at Chimicum. We are going to ft. Flagler to meet my brother and friends and may try to stay at the skp park.

We're not quite close enough to block the "ferry route" exit from Whidby yet, but working our way there. Oh, yeah we are in Canada, shhhhh, our GPS doesnt't even know where we are. We pulled into this town and the GPS said it had 3 Walmarts????? We finally tripped over the walmart while looking for a Costco! Aaarrgghhhh!

Well, the ferry pulls out of here at 10:30 so if you want to try to block it, you need to hurry. I just looked out the window but Jerry is still asleep. (I wish they'd wake up because I'm out of coffee!!) Well, at least it's dark over there. There are several nice places to stay around the Port Townsend area. Ft. Flagler is one of them. The state park there is in a great location. We stayed at the Chimicum Escapees park a couple of years ago but since Jerry told us we were staying at the Elks this time, that's where we pulled in. The Elks is nice here and the fee at $15 a night is less than the SKP park. I think when we come back across the ferry in a few days, we'll stay here again. You might want to check it out when you get this way.

We're going to try to get a site at Ft. Casey once we cross the ferry. The good thing is that we'll be able to see the RV sites as we pull into the terminal. So, if it's full, we have a choice of 3 more parks within a few miles drive. Not sure if they have a Walmart but don't think we'll need it. However, the manager at one of the parks is out of town so not sure exactly how to position if we need it. The thing I do know is where he hides the cranberry juice. We've been there and done that.

We're also looking forward to the car show and festival this weekend. So, if you get close, honk. We just might hear you.

  7. The plan we agreed on in Yuma is almost complete. I believe the 3 prong aproach, as you suggested, will be sufficent, Jeri and I from the south and Steve from the north.

The best thing about it is Joe has no idea of our plan.

    Jerry

Well, we can sneak in from the south but you have to wait one extra day. You know how we are with our plans!! We make them just so we can change them.

Tonight was Justin's going away party. In a couple days Uncle Sam will be his mother. On top of that Tammi's 3,000 mile trip across country will end about midnight tonight when she arrives within striking distance. And, since it's her birthday to top it off, we cant sneak off without at least seeing them and having a meal! So that's the new plan and you know how well we stick with them. :D:D

  8. Didn't do much today. We went to the fair. That place was packed with people. Don't people work on Friday's anymore or are those all the unemployed? Then, we pulled weeds, fed the deer, took a nap and yakked with Jerry and Janice. We were planning on how we were going to sneak up on Joe. Ferry reservations are made. We just hope he's found time to stock the wine cellar and fill the refrigerator. :D

  9. Have I told you guys how much I HATE moving?

    I HATE moving.

Sandie -- Tell me how you REALLY feel about moving.

Don't run off too far Joe, I'm only 587 miles out

Last I heard Spiker's RV Resort was full. You forgot to check with the Reservation Department if you're trying to book a site for a night or ten. :D

I actually moved over 60 miles today. Had to take a Steve after such a hard day!!!!

    Jerry

Well, I can vouch for that. You snuck up on us.

  10. We tried to get stuck yesterday! :o Got a late start, so we didn't quite get to Ft. Benton. We were just past Stanford, which is the next town from the fort and found out the campground at the fort had just filled up. Whoops! Anyway, I remembered what looked like a small RV park in Stanford, so we had to turn around and go back. What no place to turn around! Finally we saw a small gravel path off the main road and a tractor parked there and decided to try to turn there. Well it seemed pretty hard ground when we started around the tractor, but then I could feel it start to sink in a little and floored it! We threw some dirt around, but made it out of there, and didn't even break a glass in the cupboard! Drove to the little park, and snagged a FHU spot in time to watch the sunset. Coach-net would have had a fun time finding me up here!! Nice and cool last night too, finally got to the end of the hot weather. BessyBus said if I would put some different tires on her she could enter in the mud bogs! B)

Well, this group has already had an experience getting a motorhome out of being stuck. However, last time it was the sand. Don't get stuck, Steve. None of the experienced crew is around to help pull you out.

The Hyders left our little cove yesterday morning. We actually had one more day left but ended up pulling out too. We're now inland. The temperature difference between the coast and here was about 15 degrees yesterday. We even had to turn the air conditioner on. Ugh! We had forgot how to work that but figured it out pretty fast. Not sure how long we'll be here. The jello keeps getting wiggled and the chalk keeps getting erased. :D

  11. Oh you guys. Don't we know it.

It is a long weekend here in BC (BC Day tomorrow) and we have been full since Thursday morning. We had six no shows (no phone calls nothing) we waited 29 hours and then gave them away. Turns out 3 of them were a group and they showed up an HOUR after we gave them away. They were so angry. BUT the website says exactly that, if you don't show up after 24 hours we can resell the site. Luckily my shift was over and the big boss held her ground.

We have two in over flow now. And it is hot so ice and ice cream sales are crazy.

Most people are happy campers though. And I love the kidlets.

We will have a lot to talk about when we cross paths again.

JIM AND STEVE - the fishing here is incredible. Guys saying "can't get them off the hook fast enough". Kokanee.

    Hugs friends.

    Toni

Well, it takes all kinds and when you're working with the public you're certainly apt to meet all of them. Lots of luck for the rest of the summer!

Not many places Kokanee is available. It's in the lakes around here and one of my favorites. :D

  12.

After going into the back room having a good chuckle, we explained to them that we did not provide anything other than a picnic table and a fire ring. We directed them to the general store where they could purchase everything, but they declined and said they probably would not ever camp again. :)

    We do get some duzzies!!!

And, I can't understand why you didn't feel concerned when they said they wouldn't ever camp again. Wasn't there a little part of you that thought you probably should buy that tent for them and put it up? Just a little part of you??:lol: That's so funny.

  13. Jim and Sandie, CONGRATULATIONS. Hope you enjoy your new home.

Steve, I'm thinking you best be getting your "Warp Drive" fixed soon. I got word yesterday that several other folks are planning on invading this area between the 1st and middle of next month and they plan to eat ALL THE CRAB.

As for me, just hanging out here at the ole Home Base playing around with more Cranberry Juice. Gotta make sure I have a good supply for this winter. :D

    Joe

Now who might that be?? We certainly don't want to show up there if all the crab are gone. Why do you think we're coming after all?

We made a trip to the Seattle airport from the Oregon coast yesterday. Now that's a tiring trip!! Boy, were we zonked last night. I even slept in until after 7:00 AM! :D

  14. And people talk about the RAIN in the North West. Spent 12 years just a bit north of you there and I still miss the Light Shows during the summer. Nothing like sitting and watching the lightining going crazy out on the plains.

As for me I just took "The Doghouse" to the repair shop for a bit of work today and am now sitting here with a glass of Cranberry Juice enjoying some great PNW weather.

    Joe

You're right. Fabulous weather here. We're back inland but only for the day or so as we're making a trip to Seattle tomorrow to drop our grandson off at the airport.

    Happy birthday, Linda. :D

  15. That's great (that you'll be in the Aransas area (not that you'll miss AZ...), 'cause we expect to be there too!

Anyone else heading for south TX this winter?

We're thinking we are. That is we're thinking about it. We're not sure where or what but we're ready for a change. We just have to find someplace that will take us.

  16. We are not planning a trip to the west coast this winter. We will be staying most of the winter in Texas (want to try some of the TT parks there) We may also spend some time on the gulf in Biloxi. May head to Florida if I can find a cheap spot near Red Sox spring training in Vero Beach. Not sure yet. I know that we are coming back here to NY next summer. Hoping my brother will make it over here next summer.

Yeah, I remember you folks saying that. We've been to all the TT parks except Colorado River in Columbus but not so sure about the " winter warmth" in their locations. Some are still a little too far north. We loved Biloxi and often talk about going back. I know the Weavers spent last winter in Texas someplace but also a lot of time at the Houston Elks. We'd like to go someplace new this winter too and have been giving it some thought. However, other than the TT and Elks parks, we'd have to find one that would allow us and Duchess to stay. I want the perfect park, in the perfect place for the perfect price. Do you know where that is? :D

  17. Sounds good, but I'll have to double check those dates with the RESERVATION dept. Already got the Salmon covered, if we can get Steve and Carol and Jerry and Janice in the area to that is. Really hate to grill up a 20+ pounder for just 3 people. :o And there should be more Cranberry Juice ready to drink by then.

    Joe

Well, well, well. Guess who showed up today! I sent them a photo of crabs in a pot and before I knew it they were here and wanting all of our keepers! Tomorrow they're just going to have to go and catch their own. I guess we can't "hyde" from the Hyders anymore. They're parked right next to us. :D

  18. Awwwww...see you guys still have planning & leadership in your blood. :D

We will be in Arizona for at least part of the winter (maybe not till Feb....not sure).

    Paul

Not me ... Sandie was curious about it so thought I'd just ask. With everyone talking about heading other places she was wondering if anyone would be around Arizona for a reunion. That was it. No plans or leadership required but just wondering.

  19. What happened to our leaders??? I don't think we should let our leaders off the hook so easily. Leaders for life is what I heard!!!

    Paul

Now, Paul, do you really want more people telling you where to go and what to do? Isn't one enough? :D :D Besides just like mentioned above, herding this group is next to impossible. We have enough trouble keeping track of our own travels.

Here's a thought for everyone ... Sandie and I were texting (we do that often) and wondering who might have plans on wintering in Arizona this year ???? Any thoughts?

  20. Hello group and new friend IYQ whom we met at Terry Bison Ranch in Cheyenne Wyoming. (I wonder if the dryers have been repaired yet) We are now in Country Campground in the Amana Coloines in eastern Iowa for a couple of days. Lee, hope to hear from you, we miss you..

    Slo Mozey (Jim & Jill)

Welcome, welcome, welcome. It's always nice to meet new people. Keep us posted on your location and activities. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to meet you down the road. Oh, and don't believe a word IYQ told you about any of us!! It's probably not true. Well, maybe some of it is but don't believe it anyway. :D

  21. HAHAHAHAHAHA if I left where I'm at today and only traveled 5 miles a day I'd still get home before you get there. Newport is an interesting area, if you like looking at Antiques, head over to Toledo, about 10 miles east of Newport. Just north is the little town of Depoe Bay, the Sea Hag is a good place there to eat. And between Newport and Depoe Bay is the Whale Cove Inn, used to have fantastic Clam Chowder.

As for hiding all that good stuff, nope I'm not gonna do it and you can't make me. :P

    Joe

We're shooting for putting wheels on Whidbey Island about August 10th or 11th. So, go stock up on crabs and salmon. You're in charge of food. We're hoping for the perfect spot at Fort Casey for a few nights before moving into shouting distance. :D

  22. Boy, "great things moving", homelessness, crabs, birthdays, (happy birthday Jim)!, I can't keep up with this group! :o We made it to Jackson, Mn yesterday and will press on to the Black Hills today. There we will probably hole up for a few days and check the area out. Looks like Custer state park might be a good option. We'll see. We are at the KOA campground here and would probably not have stopped, but after all the heat we wanted to sit in a swimming pool for a while. Nice park, but at $39 a little more than we like to spend. The pool was nice and we about shriveled up before we finally go out of there. Well, got to get the coffee on and get ready to hit the road. Steve

  At $39 a night for you to bring your own bed and linens, they better provide an ocean front spot and mints on the pillow.
