  1. HAHA ... Actually, our son suggested a gps. We'll have to look into that. Right now I'm looking into getting a video camera mounted on the handlebars. It's priorities, you know. I'm sitting at the airport waiting for a flight to Phoenix. I don't mind getting up in the morning but I sure hate getting dressed and out the door early.
  2. WOW ... I think the land with the metal animals would really be fun. I'm going to have to check it out. We figured we'd probably spend some time in that area maybe in February. Terry's folks are in Phoenix so we will probably spend a couple months around the Gold Canyon area -- December and January. Besides we can bug the Dixons and the Lairds. Thanks for the tips. I'm going to look them up.
  3. Oh oh ... that's not good. Your diet is going to get changed and you're not going to like it! Steve --- We LOVE Pike's Market. We kept thinking we'd go back more than once this year but just haven't made it. Have a great day. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. A couple more weeks and Justin will be finished with bootcamp. We're excited for him. He's more than ready for it to end. We're heading to Illinois on the 6th to watch his graduation ceremony. We've also added a couple ATVs to our list of toys. We'll have to keep them filled up since we've already heard from several of you wanting to take your own ride in the desert. It'll be fun and it'll be different this year. We probably won't head south until the end of October 'cuz we've got lots of stuff happening. However, we plan on visiting a couple parks in the desert later this week ... maybe. We want to know what they're like if we're going to book them for a few months. We'll let you know what we think. It'll definitely be fun to see some of you again. Be safe, Be good and see you on the road!
  4. I did. This lifestyle definitely isn't for everyone.
  5. We're finally in an area with great internet. You forget how limited you are when the internet isn't perfect. However, even when all the vacationers went home, we still didn't have a good signal. We are now sitting in our son's driveway. Lots of stuff has been going on. We did discover something in his garage that we had forgotten about ... his ATV!! It's never been titled so we're going to struggle with that, look for a trailer and may think about taking it south with us. If we like it, we may get two. Of course, that would change everything with our winter plans but you all know how well we keep winter plans anyway. Portland has a big RV show this weekend so we're going to check it out as well as the local gun show. Anyway, that's about it. We're off to look at some quad trailers. IYQ -- We hope you get rid of that pain soon. I hope they figure it out because pain is absolutely no fun for you.
  6. Oh no! I hope it's certainly something tiny and really, really cheap. Lots of luck! Did you get it fixed? Or, is that part of your agenda. I remember the trip you planned last year. It was down the east side of the U.S., across the south and up the west side of the country. We thought you had put jet engines in your motorhome. Are you planning something similar? Or, did you actually make plans and reservations for this trip?
  7. Joe - The map I'm looking at shows you in Carnation and not in Oak Harbor. Now that's if I'm viewing it with Safari, Google or IE. However, when I view using Firefox, you are sitting in Oak Harbor. Go figure.
  8. I've been seeing exactly what you've been seeing. Do you think it's old age setting in or could it be something else?
  9. Try a refresh on the page. I looked at the map the first time you posted this problem and since it said Gillette, I figured you figured it out. However, according to what I see you are in Gillete. You were there yesterday too when I looked.
  10. Hmm. I'm wondering if I should ask what that SMELLS like?
  11. Well, after tons of research we just made reservations for February and March in Corpus. Don't we make plans just so we can have something to break? After all, if the Weavers and the Parks can make plans this early, I figured we could too. Temperature averages are only a couple degrees cooler than the RGV area but having access to the Gulf seemed a little bit more inviting. Who knows? We only know if we made bad plans when they don't work out. We have no clue on January yet. However, I'm certain it won't take us a month to drive there. IYQ -- Lee and MaryJane are close to you.
  12. My suggestion would be to go in that town incognito if you have some type of resemblance to the relative they chased out of there! They just might recognize you otherwise! Would love to see the bears catching salmon! Take pictures. Be safe. Glad you're finally on the road again. Don't forget your marker so we can keep track of you .... or, get out of your way.
  13. Lavins - Hope you're safe and not rafting down the river in your motorhome. Check in and let us know how you handled it when you get a chance. IYQ - You take care of yourself and get fixed up right. It's no fun when you aren't feeling well. Our internet is so bad. Most of the time it takes forever just to get a website to pop up so I just try to stay off of it. We're hoping it's because it's summer and everyone else around the lake will be heading home soon. If not, we'll move back into town (ugh) after Labor Day and stick around for another month before we do something else. We still don't know where we're going to end up this winter just that it'll be someplace south of here ... California? Arizona? Nevada? Texas? Hmmm. That's a tough one. And, to think that Marsha and Loralie have already made reservations! It's amazing how much we feel we're out of things when we don't have good internet. Thank goodness my blog is a couple weeks behind or I'd be sitting at a cyber cafe updating it!! Now to see how long this will take to go through. The good thing is I've learned to copy something before I send it. That way I don't have to write it several times before it actually goes.
  14. We have had terrible, terrible internet. Those forms have a purpose. It's to cover themselves if they screw up. We received a dental bill once that we were expected to pay since our insurance company had refused to pay it. The reason they refused to pay it was because the dentist hadn't billed them until after the time limit had run out --- 3 1/2 years later. Take care of yourself, Lee. We want you feeling good again.
  15. Not much to say except Ft. Casey was booked and now the Spiker RV Park is full. Manager at the park was out of town so we pulled into the empty sites. We were hoping to raid the wine cellar, crab bucket and freezer but the owner of the park pulled in before we had a chance. Neighbors complained about the RVs parked here. I guess his neighborhood is going downhill. I think it's the "trailer trash" bunch moving in.
  16. Well, the ferry pulls out of here at 10:30 so if you want to try to block it, you need to hurry. I just looked out the window but Jerry is still asleep. (I wish they'd wake up because I'm out of coffee!!) Well, at least it's dark over there. There are several nice places to stay around the Port Townsend area. Ft. Flagler is one of them. The state park there is in a great location. We stayed at the Chimicum Escapees park a couple of years ago but since Jerry told us we were staying at the Elks this time, that's where we pulled in. The Elks is nice here and the fee at $15 a night is less than the SKP park. I think when we come back across the ferry in a few days, we'll stay here again. You might want to check it out when you get this way. We're going to try to get a site at Ft. Casey once we cross the ferry. The good thing is that we'll be able to see the RV sites as we pull into the terminal. So, if it's full, we have a choice of 3 more parks within a few miles drive. Not sure if they have a Walmart but don't think we'll need it. However, the manager at one of the parks is out of town so not sure exactly how to position if we need it. The thing I do know is where he hides the cranberry juice. We've been there and done that. We're also looking forward to the car show and festival this weekend. So, if you get close, honk. We just might hear you.
  17. Only part of "THE PLAN" fell apart. We're not telling you the rest of it. Oh, we can always fool Joe.
  18. Well, we can sneak in from the south but you have to wait one extra day. You know how we are with our plans!! We make them just so we can change them. Tonight was Justin's going away party. In a couple days Uncle Sam will be his mother. On top of that Tammi's 3,000 mile trip across country will end about midnight tonight when she arrives within striking distance. And, since it's her birthday to top it off, we cant sneak off without at least seeing them and having a meal! So that's the new plan and you know how well we stick with them.
  19. Didn't do much today. We went to the fair. That place was packed with people. Don't people work on Friday's anymore or are those all the unemployed? Then, we pulled weeds, fed the deer, took a nap and yakked with Jerry and Janice. We were planning on how we were going to sneak up on Joe. Ferry reservations are made. We just hope he's found time to stock the wine cellar and fill the refrigerator.
  20. Sandie -- Tell me how you REALLY feel about moving. Last I heard Spiker's RV Resort was full. You forgot to check with the Reservation Department if you're trying to book a site for a night or ten. Well, I can vouch for that. You snuck up on us.
  21. Well, this group has already had an experience getting a motorhome out of being stuck. However, last time it was the sand. Don't get stuck, Steve. None of the experienced crew is around to help pull you out. The Hyders left our little cove yesterday morning. We actually had one more day left but ended up pulling out too. We're now inland. The temperature difference between the coast and here was about 15 degrees yesterday. We even had to turn the air conditioner on. Ugh! We had forgot how to work that but figured it out pretty fast. Not sure how long we'll be here. The jello keeps getting wiggled and the chalk keeps getting erased.
  22. Well, it takes all kinds and when you're working with the public you're certainly apt to meet all of them. Lots of luck for the rest of the summer! Not many places Kokanee is available. It's in the lakes around here and one of my favorites.
  23. And, I can't understand why you didn't feel concerned when they said they wouldn't ever camp again. Wasn't there a little part of you that thought you probably should buy that tent for them and put it up? Just a little part of you?? That's so funny.
  24. Now who might that be?? We certainly don't want to show up there if all the crab are gone. Why do you think we're coming after all? We made a trip to the Seattle airport from the Oregon coast yesterday. Now that's a tiring trip!! Boy, were we zonked last night. I even slept in until after 7:00 AM!
  25. You're right. Fabulous weather here. We're back inland but only for the day or so as we're making a trip to Seattle tomorrow to drop our grandson off at the airport. Happy birthday, Linda.
