  1. Not sure what caused the problem with the ems board. We did have a storm, but never lost power. So not sure what happened. We think that we are going to start unplugging also when we have these storms.
  2. Well we had to get out the eraser again! No New Orleans this year or Biloxi. Over a week ago a bad storm went through Livingston and not sure what happened but all of a sudden our power board has shown only 30 amps even though we were hooked to a 50 amp power source. We went to West RV Monday and they isolated the problem to our EMS Board. They could not get one for a couple of weeks so we decided we would go on and get it fixed once we got to Bowling Green. Tuesday morning we did find a dealership in Nashville that even had the part so we made an appointment for next Thursday to get that done. We arrived in Kinder, LA around 7 pm Monday evening. We planned to stay at the casino for a couple of days and then on to New Orleans and Biloxi. All those plans went out the window, when last evening our refrig again stopped working. Onto the computer I went and found a couple of places in Hammond La. Then the storm hit the Kinder area. It rained hard, a lot of lightning and thunder and wind. Went we got up this morning, the last thing we wanted to do was head east back into that storm!! So we found this dealership in Shreveport. We could not have made a better decision. This place is a small dealership but they have a free full service campground while we are waiting for a part. Turns out it is the board that was their recall part. So best of all its not going to cost us a thing!!! Still need to take care of the EMS board so that will be an expense but everything could be a lot worse. So New Orleans will have to wait. I'll get there someday. Tonight we are looking to get some sleep. No storms tonight.
  3. Hello everyone Glad to hear everyone had a good time this year with the get togethers. Sorry we had to miss them this year. Hopefully next year. Just wanted everyone to know that we will be in Bowling Green Kentucky for the summer, working at Beech Bend Amusement park. If anyone is coming this way give us a holler. Lots to see in Kentucky!
  4. I want to encourage everyone who has a Norcold refridge to have those recalls done. Having that recall done has just saved our lives!! Sometime during the night our cooling unit on the refridge went out. The recall sensor added to the unit did what it was supposed to do...it turned it off!! It is going to cost us just about all we are working for here at Amazon but hey, we are alive. Please if you have not had the recalls done...do them ASAP!!! Sorry we won't be in Q with everyone this year, we will be staying around Texas and the gulf states.
  5. We will be in Livingston sometime in January as soon as we finish here at Amazon. Plan to be there for at least 3 to 4 weeks to take care of doctors appts and such. Keep an eye on the map!!
  6. Sorry we missed you guys. As Paul said we are now in Campbellsville, Kentucky to work at Amazon.com. We will be here until after the christmas holiday. Be careful going to upstate NY this time of year. It could snow at anytime and a lot of the campgrounds close after Columbus Day.
  7. We will be in Kentucky again this year. Chattanooga might be open but don't think they are set yet for workampers.
  8. Just found out we are going to be grandparents again!! Yeah!!! Son and daughter in law are expecting their first sometime next June. They are in California so now our summer plans are again up in the air. Also, 1st born granddaughter, Ciera, will be graduating high school in May. Also in California. After we finish at Amazon, we still plan to stay most of the winter in Texas so I will be watching the map closely to see where everyone lands in January and February. Hopefully we will get to see some of you.
  9. We got that same kit from the same people. Ed had to do the bedroom shade. Sooner or later we are going to switch to mini blinds. I am really tired of these shades!!!
  10. All repairs are done but we are still in the RV dealerships parking lot. We could not get in to the campground early so they were nice enough to let us stay here. At least we have 30 amp electric. If you ever get stuck for repairs in Mass, contact them here at Diamond RV. Everyone here has been super nice and our repair tech took time to explain everything he did.
  11. Well we are camping in the parking lot of the RV dealership. They have fixed the slide (the rubber seal was bad and they replaced it), they put on new windshield wipers (now it won't rain!!), they have ordered a new board for the air conditioner/heat pump and they have changed the oil. We are paying a little extra for them to overnight the part but with the price of diesel fuel, we thought it was worth it not to have to come all the way back here. Hopefully we will be able to get into the campground a couple days early.
  12. We finish working on Monday and we were going to stay around here and clean up the MH and clean out the bays but we are leaving here the Wednesday after Labor Day to travel to Mass and a Winnebago dealership. When we put our slide in, because of Irene, something happened and now out rubber seal has come off the slide. Hopefully its an easy fix. Ed tried to get it back in but it also appears that the top of the slide has shifted about 1/4 inch so he can't get it. Will also have them look at our basement air...the compressor doesn't seem to be engaging. It always seems to be something....hopefully it won't take much of the money we've worked all summer for!!!!
  13. How far is that from Harlingen? Thats where the encore parks are. Maybe going to try to February. We will be in Livingston for most of January. Going to try to do the "pay for 15 stay for 20" to will be over in the other part of the park. See ya then.
  14. The storm has finally reached us here in upstate New York. It has been raining all night and now at 12:30 pm the wind is starting to pick up and we are without power at the campground. Went up this morning and opened the store but once we lost power shut it down again. Lucky I don't have far to go. We had one tree branch down, but luckly it didn't hit anything. Hopefully it won't last to much longer. We will be spending most of the winter in Texas. Not making the trip west this year...to expensive with the fuel. May use our TT membership at one of the encore parks in Rio Grande area. Hope to see some of you there.
  15. In preparation for the coming of Irene, we have put everything away and we will pull in our slides and take down the satelite. We have evacuation plans for the campers should they be needed. We will make that determination tomorrow by noon. They are expecting some wind, maybe 40 to 50 mph but what we are really concerned about is the rain. They are saying we could get 7 or more inches of rain. That would really make our river rise. If we really get that much rain, we can only hope that the rest of the week is dry so it will recede. If not we may be canceling a lot of our Labor Day campers. If that happens our work season may come to an abrubt end. Kim said only VA could have an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week!!!
  16. As in all customer service work, concern depends on the attitude of the customer
  17. This evening we have been checking in a lot of campers. At our campground we have a varity of different type of sites. These people rented one of our "dry tent sites". About an hour after they checked in, they came back to the desk and said that they had been waiting at the site for an hour and wanted to know when we were going to have their tent set up! They came camping for the first time and really thought we provided everything for them After going into the back room having a good chuckle, we explained to them that we did not provide anything other than a picnic table and a fire ring. We directed them to the general store where they could purchase everything, but they declined and said they probably would not ever camp again. We do get some duzzies!!!
  18. We are not planning a trip to the west coast this winter. We will be staying most of the winter in Texas (want to try some of the TT parks there) We may also spend some time on the gulf in Biloxi. May head to Florida if I can find a cheap spot near Red Sox spring training in Vero Beach. Not sure yet. I know that we are coming back here to NY next summer. Hoping my brother will make it over here next summer.
  19. Well its back to work again tomorrow for the holiday weekend. Wish us luck!! Not supposed to rain until Sunday so everyones site should be dry when they arrive. What happens after that is their bad luck. We are an "all weather campground" ha ha Everyone have a happy 4th!! Stay safe!
  20. How many baskets are you planning on making while they are gone???
  21. Hey Mike and Deb, We will be in Lake George NY until the week after Labor Day. We are then going to Mass for a bit and on to Virginia. We will be in Kentucky around the 1st of October to work at Amazon until Christmas.
  22. Remember this phrase "It's just a job not a career!!" I find a lot of things here at the campground that could be done better but I just do what they want and collect my paycheck. It's less aggrevating that way!!!
  23. Happy Birthday Marsha...I am right behind ya. It's been windy the past few days...not as strong as what everyone had before, just about 15 -25 mph with some gusts but we will take it. We have some windy, cooler days coming for the next few days. Things are starting to dry out now that the humidity has passed.
  24. I have been lurking but haven't had the time to really respond to everything. We have just had the weekend from H..l!! Our campground here has been hit with some flooding this spring and about 1/3 of it is still unusable because of the water. We had spent all of the week before the holiday contacting everyone with options and had everyone placed by Thursday morning. Thursday night we had a major storm and another 1 1/2 inches of rain!! By Friday when everyone started arriving it became one hugh disaster. We got that taken care of (my manager is great with) and everything was good on Saturday until the evening when we had a major storm north of us. The river started to rise again slowly, we were keeping an eye on it and then....a dam broke north of us and the river came cushing down. We were evacuating about 100 rigs around 11pm!! Some left completely and some stayed in our parking lot overnight. Now we have lost about 2/3 of the park. Check out this website if you want to see some pics. http://www.facebook.com/YNNAlbany?ref=ts Like I said, I do lurk and quickly try to keep up with everyone. Glad everyone is safe. Congrats to all those with new grandchildren. Send us some wind to dry up all this water Mother nature has not been king to anyone in the country since winter. The ski season up here was great this year with a record level snow but everyone has been paying dearly with the snow melt.
  25. Hey Sue If you guys come anywhere near Lake George NY give us a call. Thats where we are working for the summer.
