Any body know what the torque spec is for a gear nut on a wabco air compressor that is In a 08 volvo d13 ?

It's here. Time to put a new air compressor on the truck. Should go pretty easy considering it's the second time around.

Can't wait to get new air compressor . I am finding myself watching for fedex to Deliver it. I looked out the window. Is It here yet Nope. I looked out the end of the driveway is here yet nope. Asked wife is it here yet Nope. Ask the neighbor is it here yet? Nope. This is taking forever. One more question does anybody know if it's here yet????

So the other day I walked out to the end of the drive way. Looked over at the truck and noticed a new oil stain on the ground. Crawled under it and realized the oil pan plug was lose. Just got this thing serviced. Sombody at the truck shop has some explaining to do.

Finished a project that required the ground to be thawed out. Now i'm back to working on my air compressor issue. Confirmed today sump plugs are leaking oil on the bottom of the air compressor. Going to go ahead and buy new air compressor. If they don't Ask for a Core I will repair old compressor and put it on the shelf for a spare. If you have rust issues might want to check those sump plugs. Our sump plugs We're pretty Corroded with rust . They were paper thin. That is why they started leaking.

Look up wired to fish. It was on Google this morning.

Working on a 08 D13 volvo they look like soft plugs they're pretty rusted it out. The compressor is made by wabco.

So what's your opinions on buying a reman Air compressor off of Amazon Or eBay Are they any good.

So bye now everybody out there knows about my air compressor issues. We were feeling pretty good thinking we got the oil leak stopped. Everything went good took it for a test drive Oil leak is still there. It seems now, that I've got the oil cleaned up, The leak Is coming from the sump plugs on the air compressor. I knew I should have tossed that piece of junk and Put in a new air compressor. At least this time around I know how to pull an air compressor. It won't be my 1st time.

Air compressor job done. Now time to move on to the next Is project.

I'm not as flexible as I was 40 years ago. So the easiest way I could get to this compressor was to remove the left front tire the inner Fender And remove the steering shaft. I had Great help my wife was even out there getting her hands greasy. May have to take her out to dinner tonight . She deserves it. I know of a least one bloody knuckle She got. She kept her cool .Didn't throw any wrenches. Not even any explicit construction language.

So we decided to take on the oil leak Where the air compressor is mounted to the bell housing. Found out Prior to us messing with it somebody had stripped the bolt closest to the block. Oh what fun!! Now I know why it was leaking. After a bunch of explicit explicit construction language I manage to get it fixed And we are on our way to getting this back together . What a project.

Yup you guys are absolutely right 50 pounds right on the nose .We pulled our compressor today And thought we'd go ahead and weigh it. So after spending Over $900 for service We knew the air compressor was leaking oil They gave me a quote For $1500 To fix it and install a $20 o ring. Nope They are not getting any more money From me so we took it on ourselves.

Yup I feel your pain. That was my headlight issue . Bad ground.

Going to have to change out Air compressor gasket. Does anybody know how much the air compressor weighs on a D13?

I do have a question for you what do you do with your waste oil? When I used to change my my pickup oil. I used to take it back to the automotive stores. After being burned on my last oil change I'm going to start doing it myself. Our automotive store don't take large quantities of used oil Any ideas?

It seems my feeling was justified. Found oil leak in Air Compressor. $1500 To repair it. $50 worth of parts the rest labor. Aint going to happen. We're going do it ourselves.Time to role up our sleeves and get dirty.

OK. I may get ridiculed for this. But a old truck driver thought me this. Take a piece of garden hose put one end near suspected leak the other end close to your ear. BUT NOT TO CLOSE WE DONT WANT TO BLOW OUT ANY EAR DRUMS.I am talking about 6 inches away from your ear the closer you get the louder it gets do this carefully. Move other end around to another place and repeat. It is kind of like using a stethoscope. I use this method and it has not failed me yet. Dose not need batteries.
