  1. I was with Good Sam ERS. I needed a tow from a location in western Canada that their 1-800 number would not work from on my mobile.  Paid for the tow ($300) and called from a landline right away for reimbursement. Filled a form out and chased for weeks. Got a one year renewal “free” as reimbursement because I should have hitchhiked to a land phone I guess :)

Used the blizzard of Good Sam renewal due mail to light campfires.

    I have CoachNet now.

  2. Thanks Kirk - I don't watch broadcast hellivision but I like to watch streamed or downloaded or DVD type stuff once in a while.

A guy that is smarter than me said  most of the tv's we rig inverters to power are actually low voltage internally.... maybe I saw one advertised that had both 12v and 110ac connections?

Trucking and marine uses many low voltage equipments I see...

Go to the CES show in a couple weeks and you can see our hydrogen electric truck up close and personal.  Weighed 23K when it hit the road last week.

I figured Ballard would surface somewhere in my scouting -

Which is of course months behind the times ...

Kenworth is starting where these vehicles make the most sense and are most needed.  I may be biased in opinion.  Your electric range may vary with grade and wind

    the ultimate shyster

    google - tesla and ponzi

are you confusing Tesla with Nikola?

Neither of course being the interesting genius inventor Nikola Tesla?

anyhoo I came across a video of the introduction of the Nikola vehicle and proposed support network on youtubes

I enjoy looking at new concepts and new applications of technology.

The Nicola prototype long haul tractor is a very innovative vehicle

    Merry Christmas

  5. Thor electric

Nikola hydrogen fuel cell / electric hybrid.

Nikola's vertical integration and integrated route and load management is interesting.

Estimated 2000lbs lighter tare weight than current diesel trucks should be very interesting to the industry and all electric competitors...

Mid body entry door ... the DMV will "have" to gimme motor home status now! B)

  6. I use a Bialetti Venus 6 (expresso) cup stovetop moka pot.

I don't know anything about expresso.  I use it to make 1 mug of FAH*  coffee in 3 minutes on propane fire. Simple to clean and set up cup 2.  Wants a fine grind but not fussy. Brews pretty much any grind you use. How a moka pot works

If I have company my go to is French press, coarse grind 4 minutes brew time.  More involved and needs more water to clean up for next round than the moka pot.  Makes a little more fancy brew.  I read a coffee snob blog where you get a better brew stirring with chopsticks cause they aren't stainless steel like the spoon I use.

    Neither needs electricity.

So we in Alberta were the last hold outs to enact a "cell phone" feel good law - oops we have a law against Distracted Driving - which is anything that distracts your attention from outside the windshield  - if you are wandering around your lane putting your make up on, fiddling with technology gadgets, or yakking on a hand held phone or texting or eating or reloading your gopher gun - or - wait for it - being distracted by a hands free phone call (OMG!) such that you are not driving properly - you may get to explain the situation to a LEO...

  8. Forced air heat source: think heating a rock up a with a hair dryer. Objects and materials are slow to warm up.

    - cheap systems to install.

    - good for propane sales.

    - good for moving heat into spaces like water equipment compartment, deep cabinets full of stuff etc. with simple ducting.

    - good for warming space on a cool morning but not heating up the unit uncomfortably as the day warms up.

Radiant heating source: think heating a rock with the sun.  The objects in the direct path of the  radiant heat energy warm up.

    - good for cold weather heating where continous heat is needed.

    - heated materials in the unit will continue to radiate heat later... even when it is now 85F in the afternoon... oops...

Don't forget if you convert your living space from forced air rv furnace as main supply to some other more efficient source, that you need to somehow supply heat to the water & holding tank areas that used to be heated when your furnace ran...

I also carry an emergency stash of RV antifreeze in case of unexpected cold - so I can add to the tanks and winterize the water system if caught out for some reason...

My 5th wheel has a seperate basement furnace that protects the tanks etc from freezing even if you are heating the human space by comfortable radiant heating ... lol just kidding no it doesn't that woulda added like, $500 to the cost of a $100,000 trailer OMG...

  9. When I drove commercial trucks I mostly hauled gasoline and diesel fuel, or gas condensate.  You lose the habits of tailgating, speeding, farting around with gadgets on the dash, eating, drinking coffee, and general aggressive driving when a mishap can result in cremation...

Hey, he woke up.  Food brings him out of hiding........

Does it count if a member lets you park your rig at their place, then hauls you to the restaurant in question? We have a new little place bye us, worthy of a visit.

Does it have parking for the machines 2 wheeled?

  11. Try the phone.

I used to email outfits then mumble and grumble because no response - then call them and find out their IT system routed my email to the penalty box.

  12. HotRod has some excellent suggestions. If you winch directly to the bike and not to a seperate chock/trolley you need a nice bridle that evens the pull. I think the winch in the image is a Warn portable of some kind.  As you know the trick to unloading down a ramp is to make sure the momentum of the roll-off does not stop with the back wheel off the ramp, front wheel on the ramp, and your feet 24inches off the ground :o... it's one of those Wile E. Coyote "Oh no..." moments... ask me what it musta looked like when I tipped a tall trailie over like that and tumbled off down the little grassy incline into campsite #8 below us ... bike in a heap half upside down off the ramp. I popped up to my feet in #8 and looked to see if Brad was in has lawn chair so I could say "Just dropped in for coffee..." but the playoff hockey game was on so the area was like a ghost town which is why I was going for a ride... I digress...It was a bit of a wrasslin effort to stand the bugger up again...

so if you go mechanical assist you need to make sure the system moves the machine all the way to the ground... or holds the bike upright trolley chock style so you can pull it a bit to get it flat on the ground... try to avoid bolting down toe catching hazards to your ramp or floor... they have a way of interrupting the trajectory of a needed foot placement....

the extension and ramp angle reduction method sounds good and simple to start with...

  13. I replaced my max brake with a direct link a couple of months ago.

    Happy with it

had a Maxbrake fail on our Dodge won ton, installed a Prodigy somethin somethin to get us by to finish the trip. No like the "mind of it's own" control, replaced with a DirecLink controller compatible with a future electric over hydraulic system - works great with electric brake trailers - this truck pulls 5 different ones from time to time -

    also happy with it
