Gubmint costs x to operate. Those who earn under the table or otherwise cheat, someone (those who are honest) have to make up the shortfall.

Under reporting hit self employed HARD during COVID as they could not prove their full income to get Covid Bennies.

Under reporting also means paying less into ss and Medicare. Ss under report is self harming, and harms spouse and potentially offspring. Under reporting for Medicare hurts all.

Not to mention we are to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's". I heard a man say one time, "there will be more people in Hell because of stinginess than any other reason." I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Just a heads up, the bridge at Dillon Pinnacles on Hwy 50 that crosses the Blue Mesa Reservoir is now closed indefinitely. CDOT closed it yesterday due to problems with the bridge integrity after inspections yesterday. All that is known yet is there is no date for it to be open.

So anyone who is planning to travel that way on Hwy. 50 you won't be able to. As of now the detours are I-70 and Hwy 160.

It will be a few months for me. Maybe it will be open by then.

The "thank you" on a Paccar is the button on the end of the turn signal switch. If you press it when the lights are on, it will turn  the ICC marker lights off as long as the button is held down. If the lights are off, it will turn the ICC marker lights on as long as the button is pushed. A two button flash means "thank you" when someone lets you move over into a lane.

The ICC marker switch will be on your upper panel with the trailer, running lights and hazard light switches.

For Volvo drivers, jerk on the appropriate rein to make your two donkeys rear up together.....

I've got an old Volvo (Cummins motor) with a dedicated switch on the dash for said ICC marker lights. Never owned a truck until I bought this Volvo. It came with a bed and a Smart car and two Trailer Saver hitches. Couldn't pass it up. But, I drove a truck for 30 years. The last several years of that career I drove the T680 or Freightliner Cascadia, never knew from week to week which one. I'll keep my old Volvo over either of those trucks. FWIW..😋

Also, Love's travel plazas are starting to have rv spots with hookups which might be a good option.

Yeah, until people start staying in them for days at a time.

We expect musicians and performers from Space Coast to Miami to come and honor him. We provide and organize many opportunities for those artists to show their talents.  https://www.jazzsociety.org/  We also provide thousands of dollars in scholarships to nurture the next generations of artists and performers. Scroll down on our website and note the "Jam session protocol", it's a real high to sit in with these guys. Yes, the Old Goat enjoys that opportunity now and then. Checkout the "Milestones" link further down on the site. It's the 25th anniversary edition and shows the caliber of people involved in the Society .

It's one of the best and successful 501 (c) organization around and on record and one does not mind to contribute time and effort to keep it going.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. Sounds like he will be missed by many. Prayers for his family and friends.

We have a 40 foot 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire Fifth Wheel with tandem axle dual wheels.  I am needing to replace all 9 tires ( size : 235/85R16 load range g ). I am pulling with a HTD (1973 Peterbilt ).

I am asking if anyone is using/has had any problems with the Hercules H-901 or the Hercules Strong Guard C-ST.  They look about the same sizes and specs except the speed rating on the H-901 is an L or 75 MPH and the Strong Guard is an M or 81 MPH. Any opinions or suggestions will be appreciated.

I've got a 2009 Newmar, Torrey Pine. I went with the Sailuns this last time and so far so good, but will probably try the H-901 next time just because of all the good things I've read about them. I didn't know about the Strong Guard. I don't run 80 except maybe briefly on a downhill, but I like the idea of having more tire than I need.

A point of general knowledge; do not start the engine unless you can drive the vehicle for 20 minutes to get everything, including motor oil up to normal operating  temperature. A diesel engine will never reach normal operating temperature at low idle.

    source: https://www.cumminsengine.net/is-really-good-that-engine-running-with-low-idle-speed.html

I like to double that time, especially if it is cold outside.

  9. I looked mine up -  Front axle just truck: 10580;  Front axle with trailer: 10300; Front axle with Smart, Trailer fully loaded including 80 gallons fresh water: 11000.

I am not the weight police . Lol

In the process of putting new truck together.   My old truck I singled short. And had for 12 years.  My new truck. Still working on I singled it long.  And still working on it.  It’s bare no hitch or anything.  I  need to build a deck for my side by side and a few other things.

Front axle around 11000 rear is 6500.   I know it will change.
Wondering what everyone else is like for weight without a trailer?????

this is the first auto shift I have ever driven.  Seems to be harder to drive than a standard.

Trailer takes about 500 pounds off my front axle. Singled long. Haul a Smart car.

Oh great teacher, one of your lesser students spotted where you tried to trick us.  You intentionally routed the wires going into the Jackalopee so that water will travel down the wires into the box, even though in the past you've stressed that we should not do that.  Clever of you to try to trick us......

    😲...........🤔

    Hello,

We are newbies to the HDT scene and want to come look at them, talk to folks and get an education. We have booked a cabin at Deer Run Thursday thru Sunday. I tried the FB site and it is private and i submitted a request to join. If someone could grant me access that would be much appreciated.

Any tips before we get there would be appreciated and really looking forward to this. I think this will help us decide if this is right for us so we can get busy looking for a truck and getting a build started.

    Larry and Robin

What Larry said. I'll probably have the oldest truck there and possibly trailer as well. We've traveled all over with it. You can do this for a lot less money than you would think if you are so inclined.
