  1. We are still in Junction City, KS at New Horizons. The 2012 is moved outside and will go through final systems test tomorrow. Everything is looking very good. Our genset gets moved over, and by Tuesday or latest Wednesday we should be "moving in". Should be in by the weekend. We will be here through most of the month. I still have to wire it for video, double towing, airlines for the Jeep, WiFIRanger, et. al. Plus I have business with New Horizons. So if you are running I-70 we accept visitors. (Except if you come while we are moving stuff I'm putting you to work )
  2. Sharon, I understand your point completely. But IMO there is not enough activity to create a Forum exclusively for RBDE activity. But hey, I don't want to discourage you - you would have to get Escapees to establish it for you. They are the owners of the site.
  3. There is not enough activity for its own section. Y'all ARE a part of HDT so it makes sense to keep it here....at least to me. But, hey, I'm just a lowly "male" My suggestion is to create a private Facebook or Google+ "group" and use that.....it is better suited to back and forth dialog, IMO. Plus, you can keep the "riff-raff" out of it.....if it is private. And, ladies, don't forget that Danielle and I are doing a "for ladies ONLY" seminar/Q&A at the National HDT Rally. ALL topics are game: fulltiming, trailers, hookup procedures, truck stuff...anything you can think of. This seminar is by popular request, and has been a hit at other Rallies. NO MEN (other than me ) will be allowed in the room. Not even to watch.
  4. Don, I sure as heck hope we are gone from New Horizons by then.....we should start moving into the new rig early this week. If you come by CO stop and visit....
  5. Renee, wish you and Dave were here. The party is just not the same!!
  6. We are in Junction City, KS at New Horizons picking up the new trailer....Roger & Debbie are here, as are Craig and Lidia....two 780s and my 610 are crowding the lot......George will be here Friday with hist 780....a truck show in process....
  7. Derek, you are doing what many successful individual stock investors do. You study the company, its philosophy and who is running it. Then you evaluate the industry and the opportunity. And you invest if you think the company will fit the opportunity well and has the ability to execute. I did that for a time and was paid for it....(I led a merger and acquisition team). It is not easy, and even if you do everything right there are so many factors involved that you have no control over that you can fail miserably. Ask me how I know So,if I was interested in Tesla then you would be one of the people I would talk to about it.
  8. Cindy!! Glad to see you back here....see what you started! And I miss your blog....
  9. Just because I may not be "all in" to the market does not mean I'm not invested in "something". The market is not the only investment vehicle.... "Just saying".....
  10. The way I figure it is to look at what I started with in 2000 when I went fulltime. In essence I have not made any (real, earned income) money in all that time....so it is easy to look at what I have now, and all my withdrawals over that time to support my lifestyle. Looked at that way gives you a "personal" look. I have been invested most of that time. I do own real estate as well....so I have to factor that out. But looked at that way I am doing just fine, thanks. I have about what I started with after all that time and expenditures. Good enough for me. I still moved 25% out, though.
  11. A remarkable runup. And things do look a little encouraging looking at "some" of the data. But I have no confidence in this market. I'm pulling 25% of my market funds into cash and may eventually diversify them . Just me...don't take my actions and act on just it.
  12. I really was not referring to anyone in particular...I know you don't just have Telsa, Derek. Just like I don't have only one security....
  13. Unless you use the market as a form of gambling (which is entertainment, to me) then a properly diversified protfolio is key to success. It definately increases your odds. Not that you won't be "bit" sometimes....But putting substantial assets (percentage wise) into one investment vehicle is gambling. Just my opinion. .....
  14. Timing the market using any technique is not something very many people can make work. Some do, though. I tend to invest on fundamentals, and on investments that meet my overall goals. And if the world wide economic indicators are poor, I take that into account in my decision making, depending on the particular investment. Some investments are more affected than others by economic conditions. The only time I "time" the market is when it is so low (because of panic) that I feel it is a no-brainer. In that case, if I have cash - and I usually do - I invest in solid companies that have taken a big hit, or in mutual funds that meet my goals. Both usually work well for me. That is what I do in a nutshell....so far, so good (over 40 years.....). I do tend to hold things for reasonable lengths of time....and I have been told by many "experts" (usually on forums) that this strategy does not work. Oh, well.....guess it doesn't for some. But it works well enough for me.
  15. Personally, I've been selling some of my positions and taking some profit. While the market overall performed what I would call poorly last year I think the risk is higher this year than last for something "bad" happening. Personally, I sell when I think the market has met my goals, and buy when everyone else is selling... Just what I've been doing. I certainly don't recommend it to anyone else.
  16. There will come a time to get out. Unfortunately market timing is a fools mission. Very few people can do it well in normal circumstances. But if Europe goes kaput....which it will at some point....that is the time I will move to almost all cash. I'll get "hurt" on the way down, but I'll react fast enough that the pain should be tolerable. Or, one "could" take the position that it is happening soon and just get out now. Just depends on your comfort level. Nothing is forever, and I don't believe in "long term" investments any more. At one time they worked, and could work well. Not so sure any more. JMO, take it for what it is worth - nothing.
  17. Going back to the "are you in".....I did what I posted originally in this thread....moved almost all my positions to Large companies, paying good dividends, undervalued, with good worldwide income sources. They have done well - some might say very well. And I'm staying put in them for now. Not that anyone cares....
