  1. I know you are Florida residents, we are also, but the Rio Grande Valley is much less expensive than Florida. The local residents really like us Winter Texans. Just a thought for your consideration. Amazing what a difference from vacation mode to full timer mode. Congratulations on getting it. Bill
  2. X2 on Church's Camping in Alaska and Canada. Milepost and Days End. In your budget for the trip this cost is a non entity. Good trip Bill
  3. The typical routing is north from Dawson Creek to Whitehorse. Then you have decisions to make. Consider Skagway, Dawson Or Tok. You get to chose one going up. First trip was Dawson, TOW, Chicken, Tok, Valdez, Anchorage, Homer, Seward. Denali, Fairbanks, Hyder. Second trip was Whitehorse, Skagway, Haines , Fairbanks, Denali, Homer on the Spit. Kenai Seward, Palmer, Fairbanks, Tok Chicken, Eagle, Dawson, then down the Cashier to Hyder. First trip was three weeks. Second trip was three months in the north. Memorial Day weekend is really the start of the tourist season to make your schedule interesting. You really need to see the Frantic Follies in Whitehorse. Visit the theater in Dawson for the Muppet boxes. Study the historical weather for insight into when to visit the different areas. Denali and the Kenai Peninsula in June. As the summer progresses the weather becomes more wet. On the second trip we saw the Denali, Mt McKinley, completely open for four days. Fred Meyer store in Soldotna allows three days in there RV parking with water and a dump station. Enjoy your trip. Bill
  4. Larry that should be a good date. Are going up on the Cassair? And the next question is Bannf and Jasper on the trip North? Br aware we got to Whitehorse on Memorial day weekend and tourist season was just beginning. Enjoy, Bill
  5. I prefer using Purogene rather than bleach. Much easier to flush to no taste for user. Bleach usually takes at least to complete fillups on the fresh water and entire system. Bill
  6. The way the article read that the law was already enacted and the Gov wanted to toll all vehicles not just large, read trucks, vehicles. Ah so they is hope yet. The roads in the northeast are major pain to drive on due to traffic load. Adding tolls to that miserable drive would just the topping. Thanks for the news. Bill
  7. Read a news article that CT is going add barrier toll gantries to all the interstates. And the state intends to toll all vehicles. Now the question is how to avoid those roads getting to Maine and New Hampshire for family visits. Bill
  8. We did invest in a water softener fon the investmenur years ago. If it extends the life of the hot water heater by a few year then the investment would be worthy. Bill
  9. llThanks to all. I was thinking of the hardness causing harm to the plastic valve. Using Lime Away. Appears to be slowly 'clearing' the problem. Cost was $4.33 w/tax at the Dollar General. Again thanks to all. Bill
  10. Sealand toilet water seal slowly drops through closed valve. Cause appears to hard water deposits at leading edge of valve at each side. V shaped about 1/2 inch along the edge of the valve. Visible when valve is about half way open.I am hesitant to scrap with metal fearing ball damage and subsequent loss of seal. Thoughts and suggestions welcome. Thanks Bill
  11. I will caution you that the major tourist attractions don't open until around the first of June. Don't miss Chicken and Eagle along the Top of the World Highway. Yes your rig will probably be dirty after the trip, that's why they built wash bays. Smaller vehicles only to Eagle. Road is tight. Nice BLM campground about 2 miles west of turn off to Eagle. Homer and Seward offer city campgrounds right on the beach/water, dry camp mostly. Take the road to Valdez the view in town is spectacular Just a couple of thoughts, Bill
  12. We have not been overnighting at truck stops for about 4 years. Just because the truckers have to have a spot to park. We don't need to stop and park. With the electronic logging now in use the truckers need is more critical as there is no leeway for traffic or weather problems. Rest areas, Walmart, Cabelas etc or a quick overnight for sleeping. We really try not to be in the A to B drive mode anymore. We can do that mode but it is no fun. Bill
