  1. Several reports - really.   I couldn't find more than  4.  Even then, I bet MOST RESPOND TO COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF THE PHONE, count to 10, then turn on again and let it reboot.   This is the response most of the time.   People put the iPhone to sleep, but very seldom to a hard shutdown.   It has been quite awhile since the upgrade came out - so this wasn't an immediate problem. But then, every negative thing about Apple must be turned up and amplified as much as possible.

  2. I believe that the 2 Million is the thought for someone today working in their mid 30s to early 40s to aim for.  And notice that is designed NOT to touch principal.  And to keep one in the same lifestyle they are accustomed too.   But most of us know that (1) it takes less to live in terms of normal consumer goods as one retires - no more work clothes, no commuting costs, etc.  Medical costs go up.   And the idea that ALL of your retirement is passed along is kind of absurd, just make sure you have enough to pay your bills and not saddle your kids with debt,  and if something is left over good.   We've found it better to help them as we go along, rather than waiting until we die and they don't have a great need for extra funds.   They are successful and we were able to give them help along the way with things like downpayment for their first home, etc.

Has anyone made the decision to establish an LLC in Montana to register their vehicle?  Our understanding is that there would be no sales tax or Class A or B Non CDL requirement. Thanks in advance.

Since it since this thread is about getting the Class A or Class B license it a would seem they have decided to go with Texas as their domicile.  Suggest you start a new thread to ask you question.

I was hoping that they would be a bit lenient. The JetPack has a 30 GB limit. Fortunately we have 2 phones each with 15 GB of hotspot. It would have been a lot more convenient to just use the Jetpack. It is kind of weird that Verizon bases everything on each individual device.  I guess when you have the best coverage you can be a bit arrogant.

Well they don't have the best coverage all over like they use to.   More and more we find AT&T coverage is the best and Verizon and T-Mobile are limited.   I expected T-Mobile to be limited when outside of metro areas, but Verizon didn't use to be so weak.   Verizon targets all of its plans for young, single people who will change phones, etc., every 6 months or so.    And do EVERYTHING on their phones.

  5. We purchased our motorhome in 2005.   I took 10% of the purchase price and put that into an account and ADDED TO IT EACH MONTH an amount equal to about 1/12 of the annual maintenance for a diesel pusher.   We never purchased an extended warranty, and our coach is still going.   That fund pays for all maintenance, replacement of tires and batteries, plus any repairs.  Remember it is not IF you will need repairs, but when.   The other thing is that by being self-funded, we are able to replace things before they break - for example, if we have something break in an assembly, we just replace the whole assembly because all the other components have been stressed by the part that did break.   Or something on one side,  we will replace that part on both sides of the coach.    The key is to make sure you put that money aside each and every month.

  6. Linda, just because someone doesn't use the term nightmare, doesn't mean that that isn't what they are.   They all start as dreams, and venture into different areas.  And over the years the 'nightmare' aspect of them may lessen to a degree, but they are generated while the brain is still trying to come to grips with traumatic  situations.    And don't say you don't have PTSD - which is a relatively new term of those who suffer from events that they went through in their lives.   Clearly the event was very traumatic for you, and thought it may have lessened over the years, things like that often form the basis for PTSD in children.  Again, it is POST traumatic stress, doesn't matter when or when it occurred.

  7. Yes, I've seen the Hurricane evacuation route signs and very familiar with the Tsunami evacuation route signs along the Washington and Oregon coast.  But this was a first for us.  I am glad to see that the town fathers have realized that if Mt. Rainier goes (she does send up steam plumes to make sure every one remembers she is still active) Puyallup is likely to be entombed in one of the lahars.  Hopefully she'll be like Mt. Saint Helens and spend a few months expanding before blowing her top.   Unlike the Cascadia Fault that will just move (about 30 years past the 'normal' interval now) and go.  And I'm convinced it would be while I was at the ocean, so we stay inland in do day trips to the beach, etc.   Yes, I know this has become a phobia for me - but surfing in the RV to Aberdeen from Ocean Shores just does sound like fun to me. 😎

Wow. This is one small thing in an otherwise beautiful life, and if you knew me you'd know how wrong you are.  .....

No Kirk is not wrong.  You might not understand how you appear to others, but after more than 16 years on this forum (and others) you sound very similar to hundreds (if not thousands) of other people who have come on, nit-picking about things when in truth it was that they didn't really want to be in an RV for any length of time.    I don't know whether it is financial or something else, but complaining about small items your husband doesn't do be it in a house or projecting onto an RV just doesn't seem appropriate.

BTW - JimK's 10 min replacement of CO detector took 30 minutes because of where it is located in our rig.  If anything needs to be done in connection with the water heater, we are hiring someone to do it as the space is incredibly tight and we both have arthritis, etc. as we age.  We can't get into tight spots anymore.   A 20-30 minute job to replace leaking sealing on black water dump value ended up taking 6 hours - you don't want to know.   And believe me, while any other repair will have everyone in the park walking over to see what you are doing, etc., when it involves the waste system they all walk on the other side of the street.😉

As an aside the CO and propane detector shouldn't be together, but CO detector located at shoulder height, Propane near the floor (20 years as Env Health & Safety director and campus Fire Marshall.)

  9. Understand that Puyallup area has geology showing how it was overrun by lahar flows when Mt. Rainier erupted over millennia.  Depending upon how it blows, several areas with substantial populations will be affected.   I knew about all the planning the state has done since Mt. St. Helens eruption, had looked at the projected outflow maps, but hadn't seen warning signs.   Use to seeing the tsunami evacuation route signs when near the ocean.

Just about everyone on this list is of an age to almost certainly be vaccinated. And thus immune. Almost everyone who is getting it now is unvaccinated. They made their choice and now they pay the piper.

No, vaccinations doesn’t mean you can’t catch the virus, just that you will probably have only mild symptoms, BUT you can pass it on to others, like children who can’t get vaccinated yet!

I’m sure it's just the clamp, as I can't get it to stay tight when I give it a gentle tug to be sure it's tight. It's been a long list of issues, some of it having to do with pipe diameter (which I figured out), trajectory (which I figured out), the correct bend (which I figured out) and so on. When the connection came apart tonight after every fix I could think of, that was the end. I'd failed, and I don't know why.

So either you have a bad clamp or bad hose.  Have you gotten new ones?  I’d do that first.  If that doesn’t work, then go get a repair person in.  That might give hubby something to think about.

  12. Assume you can drive a car, right?  Then big empty parking lots are the place to go.  Get number of orange cones, use any stripping, etc. and practice, practice practice.  Going forward, backing up.  Left turns, right turns, forward and backwards, figure eights.  Trying industrial park areas on Sundays when no one is around.  Get the feel for when to turn, etc.
