And know that thousands upon thousands of us have done the same thing.  We got ours over 16 years ago, and there really wasn't any other option but to go do the written test, make an appointment with them at that time (we had just taken the car over, we were in Tyler, TX) for the next day, so they knew we would be driving over, and then we drove over, took our tests, and past it (even though Dave got rear-ended during his test drive!).     No one batted an eye, or asked us anything, except to say 'oh good' when  asked about air brakes and I told her we had hydraulic not air brakes on our diesel pusher.  

Not only don't they care, most often the DPS people are glad when people do upgrade their licenses as most buyers will rely on the dealer and the dealers don't tell them they will need upgraded licenses to drive their new rig!  Thus, it is to the benefit of DPS not to make a fuss about it, knowing that the people do have Class C licenses, and hope they upgrade soon.  

Go across to Bend on US 20.  Then go south on US 97 to just south of La Pine and turn west on  Oregon 58 to Eugene.  We think that's the easiest way across, but others take US 20 out of Bend to Oregon 126 and then into Eugene.   From Eugene take Oregon 126 to US 101 and then head south.  Another way is to take I-5 south from Eugene to Drain, then Oregon 38 to Reedsport on the 101 and head south.  The road from Drain to Reedsport has twists but no huge climbs or decents, but it is slow.

Good grief so many on here are so myopic it is unbelievable!  No it won’t change over tomorrow.  Most of us won’t live to see every item completed, BUT CHANGE IS COMING. 

Glenn,  there isn't enough power TODAY to support all that is talked about 20-30 years from now.   THAT'S OK.   More will be developed.   You really need to look at the wind requirement for turbines.  You don't have to have gale force winds, in fact when the winds get too high they go into a lock down mode.  We're in California right now.  More and more and more shopping areas are putting in covered parking lots, with the covers containing solar panels to generate power.  Even on light to medium cloudy days they put out energy.  And because of the drought, there are lots of days of sunshine in the west anymore in all sorts of places.    

I love seeing a red light ahead and start my coast into the stop, watching the big battery get charged beause of the adaptive charging system Ford has for the hybrids.  Which is why during the winter we only need to fill up the fuel tank every other month - - the Phoenix area is flat so you can see stop lights a long way off and slow (and charge) without every have to come to a complete shop, the light is green again by the time I get there.    Driving like a little old lady works well for hybrids. Coming down a hill, even without touching the brakes, she is charging up that battery!  Big battery full when we reach the bottom.  

And who knows what other new ideas are just taking shape in the minds of creative people all over the world.

Isn’t that what the market is doing?  And any BIG change gets a kick start when government provides the. Infrastructure for it to build on.  Internet is the result of research by military DARPA,  we navigate across the world due to military development of global positioning satellites.   No one is building new coal fired plants.  Even big oil is starting to look at alternative energy sources and how they can get involved and make money.  Things are going to change.

If you can not pass the written and driving test to get the Class B license YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS HANDLING A RIG THAT SIZE.   Spend your money on the attorney and the upkeep of your LLC every year.  But please, don't give us any talk about it being to hard to get the upgrade license!   All of us here who have the upgraded licenses (including ME) were able to do it with by taking the time to read the required chapters (all of it good information), take the test (not very difficult) and do the 20-30 minute drive.  Again, if you are incapable of doing that, you have no business driving that big of a rig barreling down the highway!

Yes, Randy I know that my MS in Chem Engineering doesn't compare to what Electrical Engineers know and my years spent running EH&S departments  in universities across the country (plus being married to a Ph.D. Biochemist)  mean that I haven't the foggiest idea about research, etc.  so I'm just dreaming of a future where things change.  

Randy,  so people in different places do have electrical engineers who are looking at all the different ways of generating electricity, correct?    But you feel that none of them will come up with any new technologies and so we must continue to depend upon petroleum until every last drop is pulled from the earth?   BTW, crude oil should be saved for feedstock for carbon-based chemicals.  Much, much to valuable to be just burning it in engines hauling stuff down the road.    Again, change is coming and now of us can imagine just what it will be, but it is better to encourage change and progress than to stay stuck in old technologies.  Any organism that does not evolve as it's environment changes dies.  

Randy, are you saying that there are no decent electrical engineers in the Department of Energy?   

Why do you assume that everything will happen overnight.  It will takes decades, but. WE  HAVE TO START!   Why is that such a difficult concept.  And if we don’t address human infrastructure the who is going to do all of the jobs of the future?  
 

I will admit, I just don’t understand that lack of imagination and willingness to see what can happen as we move forward?  Good thing that there have been generations willing to go out into the unknown and try new things or humans would never have gotten out of the caves!

Glenn, what would you have been saying in 1890 when people started talking about the coming of cars - waxing on and on about we can never replace the horse, etc?   We are on the downhill side of petroleum reserves, it will all end someday no matter what we do.   Yes, there will be some pollution, but then the planet has never been "pristine" - there are all sorts of things going on, one just hopes nothing gets out of control so much that human existence ceases.   The planet - until the sun goes super nova, she will be fine - and then she will be back to star dust from whence she was formed.

General rule of thumb is a week is equal to 5 or 6 times the daily rate, and a month is about 2.5 times the weekly rate.   3 months or longer, usually drop significantly, which any snowbird knows about - you go for a min 3 months to get the best rate in the winter in snowbird country.   Lots of parks in Arizona now will give all the Fall (Sept-Dec) for one flat fee no matter how long you stay.  So a lot do come in sometime in October (most don't do Sept though more and more big rigs do it if they have 2 or more Acs) until the end of December and then move farther out to cheaper parks for Jan-March.

You don't have change over today, but it is coming.  More and more sites will have charging stations, more and more people will be telecommuting in the future, so long commutes won't be necessary and more and more jobs requiring a lot of physical exertion, etc., will be done by robots, a lot of them remotely controlled from locations miles away.     

You might not live to see the complete change over, but it is coming.  Why does that terrify everyone?   Look what the internal engine did for the future, why not see the coming change doing the same thing - opening up opportunities no one could imagine.

You are running a very old iOS on your iPad.  The app that you tried to update is designed for 14 or later and that's your problem.  My iPad (6th generation) is running 14.7.1 right now.  There was significant changes in the iSO14 upgrade, so you will be finding more and more apps that won't work on your iPad because they are looking for something specific in the operating system that you don't have.    Your current iPad apparently can not be upgraded, so it might be time to consider a newer one.

You are running 14.7.1 right?

You have done a hard shutdown, waited a minute or so, then rebooted?

you have not just downloaded the latest update, but removed the app.  Shut down, then rebooted and downloaded the app again?

You notified the developer that it is not working and they have troubleshooted the problem?

Sometimes app updates just won’t work if a conflicting app is on your device.  That isn’t Apple’s fault, but is frustrating until someone figures out what the conflict is and how to fix the problem.

But several apps will probably not run on the old SE's (Dave has one of those) because the developers have upped the requirements for their apps.  Dave's fretting because he knows he needs a newer one, but even the new SE isn't as small as his old SE and he wants to stay small so it fits easily in his pocket.

You can go with older equipment, but you have to be satisfied with the apps you have when a new operating system goes into effect.

And that’s why I got a new phone last year because they said new operating system wouldn’t work on  iPhone 6 and app makers do updates to fit latest operating system.  

RV you had mentioned Apple Support Discussion where Apple users go.  There were a few who posted there, there is a list of things for ppl to do and most cases resolve.   What isn’t know is what apps people are running that were not obtained through App Store.  That’s what usually trips people up. And those are people who go looking for help in other venues.   
 

I don’t begrudge people who get to go north.  I do wonder how we can be so awful to the country that is suppose to be our best friend.  There is no sane rationale that’s been given by us, and if I was Canadian I would resent the hell out of us right now.  My hats off to the Canadians for modeling better behavior.
