  1. Our 2002 Class C was propane only to which the previous owners had added electrical heating option. ..my parents fulltimed in the 80s, they had propane only water heater.
  2. Bill of sale, etc is what we should including lien holder, notice of AZ electronic title, the registration form, etc. Folks in Polk a county are easy to work with and said not to worry about transferring the title. Will do that when we pay off loan.
  3. Which shows difference in rig design. And notice you said you shut down immediately after leveling, not after you’ve finished all of your set up activities, like most people getting into any site.
  4. In Texas you have to register cars first unless you can show you don’t own a car that is in the state. Reason, lots of people use to get DL so they could cash checks but would wait until registration expired on vehicles before registering them.
  5. We registered our new car in Texas even though it is titled in Az.
  6. We took the plates off the car when we traded it in. Then we did the online form.
  7. Do you pull into the park doing highway speeds? We usually have a couple of miles after exiting the highway where we are going slow. You don't have to sit at idle, putting out diesel fumes into the park.
  8. We always turn off the generator and the engine when we pull in to register, even in 100+ weather. Never have had a problem then going to the site and setting up. If hot, electric first, I then run inside and make sure the A/C is on, and then we go about doing everything else. No need waste diesel for a few minutes worth. Is your insulation that bad that the interior won't stay cool for 30 minutes? Barb
  9. It's the buyer who has to title/registere it, in whatever state they declare. Not your concern.
  10. NO, you can be in another state(s) for more than 6 months. There are states that allow people to stay more than 6 months and still not be considered residents for licensing, etc.
  11. "Garaged" is the insurance term for where you 'live' or where the car spends a significant amount of time. In the case of Fulltimers, the insurance company that writes your insurance knows that you are traveling all of the time, but that is the term that they use because most people's vehicles are garaged at their residence and that is the field in their database. I'm not sure why you feel it necessary to tilt at this term?
  12. Yes, the first time that happened to us, we had a sheet of ice crash on the ground - - scared it hell out of me until Dave went around and told me what it was - - we knew it was cold that morning. After getting all set to leave, we went into the little cafe at the park and had breakfast. Watched the first rig pull out and 10 minutes later pull back in. They had closed I-10 just south of Van Horn, where we were, into El Paso because of black ice and the highway covered in both directions with jack-knifed semis. I walked over to the office and signed up for another night.
  13. Joe, ARGO's slide topper is like ours, when it winds the fabric comes OVER the roll and debris going sliding down the slide. Makes quite a 'show' if we have had rain the day before - that side its a wash down!
  14. Seversl of the Fords can be towed 4-down. We bought a Ford 2018 CMax Hybrid - they even have a section in the owners manual for RVers who are going to tow the car and how to set it up! Also go check out Motorhome Magazine and their dinghy towing guides. Barb
  15. Every once in a while there will be a problem - usually only notice it is it occurs Friday evening and then the staff is off for the weekend and it doesn't get fixed until Monday morning. This has nothing to do with your dues to Escapees - - whether or not you are a dues paying member, you can still be on this forum.
  16. Joe, since ours is mounted on the OUTSIDE of the slide, not sure how you think everything is trapped against the rig when retracting - unless you think there is a huge pile up of debris under the topper while the slide is extended. That has never happened to us in 14 years of having the coach and we don't get up and hose off the slide top underneath the topper before pulling it in. We can watch everything coming falling off as the topper winders around itself and during heavy rains, or winds any stray debris under the topper comes sliding down because of the slide design to make sure it drains well. We've never spent 6 months under trees, but most of the summer is in parks with quite of bit of tree cover in the Pacific Northwest.
  17. Newmar makes a good coach. If the inspection goes well you will have yourself a nice unit. How risk accepting you are, you have to determine. Remember, insurance companies make money by settling fewer claims than they take in.
  18. Doesn’t cool down until end of September. You will get some Monsoon Rains, that will cool temporarily
  19. We aren't talking about liability insurance - - Texas wouldn't let us register without liability insurance. We have had our DP for 14 years, and have used the fund to not only pay for any needed repairs (and ALL RVs will need repairs at some point) but also for our yearly service, for new tires/batteries as they age out. Just put 4 new tires on the rear of the coach this spring - put on credit card, then paid out of fund at end of month. Timed it so that our cash back card was giving 5% on fuel/service during that quarter so got 5% of the cost of the tires in our cash rewards - - Starbucks for the summer!
  20. We bought a used DP, so our initial contribution was less than what it would have been for a new DP. I negotiate the price down because I was going to set up the fund and we were willing to walk away from the deal if they said no. You didn't say what you are buying so we have no way of knowing whether the MH you're looking at is from a manufacturer with a long positive history or one whose products don't hold up as well, and whether it is new or use, and if used, whether the records of service, etc. were available. The previous owner of our coach had a binder in the coach with all of the service records, etc.
  21. Depends upon what the problem is. How old is the coach? If used, do you have access to all service/repair work done? As Linda said, we started with 10% of purchase price in an account and add to it every month. That has covered not only repairs, but annual service, tires every 6-7 years, new batteries, windshield wipers, repairs to house portion, etc. We’re on year 14 of owning our rig.
  22. So is it worth the cost difference not to go in every 30 days?
  23. Lots of parks in California have year round residents, despite their lease laws. Some keep a certain percentage of sites available for traveling public, and that is their 'profit', while long term residents pay the ongoing bills. Not sure why you don't see it - - we see it all over. In fact it is getting harder and harder to find some place to stop coming down I-5 because so many now are full of annual renters. Red Bluff RV Park was a stop for us every year - - this spring we got the last spot and I'm not even to try this fall. I know a lot of those are because of all the people who lost homes do to fire last year, but we have found that all over California as we travel.
  24. Also, when leaving for an extended period of time, try 1/2 filling some small ziplock bags with water and place over drains. At half-filled, they will conform to the drain. Ours have lasted 6 months with no leakage. I also put one in the bottom of the toilet as it is so dry in Mesa, AZ that the water will eventually evaporate out of the toilet.
