  1. We are really slowing down with the RV. After 2 weeks in a COE park we are in a "Resort" now until Oct. 1. Will move to our winter park then. It's about 40 miles from here along the Guadalupe River. We are just south of Jonson City, TX.

The clearing of the land for the house build should start in a month and hopefully it will be complete by April.

Looks like we will get our first taste of a tropical storm this weekend. Predicting a lot of rain.

    Travel safe everyone.

I hope the race car doesn't turn into your Beaver! Them toys can get expensive but fun.

Jerry, I think it's too late. LOL!  Race cars can be a money pit. Like most things when the fun doesn't equal or exceed the expense it's time for a change. I've had the Falcon since 1990. Was my daily driver for a few years now a street legal race car. It's part of the family.

  3. Roger, the ol' Beave is going kicking and a screaming. It really likes your attention ($$). LOL! I shouldn't laugh you guy have had a tough time with her. We probably would've left the road waaay before you if we had the same troubles. Hang in there buddy.

    Travel safe everyone.

  4. Wow Roger! I don't know what to say. Too bad, it seems the Beave soured y'all RVing. You guys have been through alot with the Beave.

Haven't broke ground yet, sometime in the next month. We'll be back there in a week then things should speed up.

That sounds like a fantastic place Kirk - sadly after living in the west for too long, we can't handle humidity any longer.  Our average humidity is generally less than 20%.  When it gets to 37%, I start "suffering"!  If I could handle the humidity, I'd be very interested in that place.  We're going to stick with Colorado.  Moved from TX back in 1999, and tried a couple of years to re-adjust to TX, but the body just isn't going along with it

Us on the other hand lived in the Denver, Co. area for nearly 40 years (1972-2011). Love the no humidity but don't want to do snow anymore and summer is too short. I saw snow every month of the year except July and the only reason I never saw snow in July is because I wasn't high enough in the mountains. We'll be settling just north of San Antonio in the next year.

Google maps satellite view can help look for access. Street view can help look for clearances.

This is what I do for fuel and campgrounds. Flying J's have dedicated RV pumps.

We are at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. They allowed us to park with the trailer hooked up, full hookups with 50 amp on grass. Cheap too. Here for at least a week. Lots of Lincoln stuff to do.

Jeff must be around here somewhere it started raining.  Hmmmm     We had a line of thunder boomers come through a while ago and now it's just plain raining.  Cold front I guess as the temp went from 88 to 67 :o   We did have some straight line winds, but BessyBus just shrugged them off:D

I have a long reach but not that long. LOL!  We are now near Peoria, Illinois. A local TV station said some areas are nearly 3" below normal for rain this year. Well not for long we are in the area and staying at least a week.

  8. This winter we'll be near New Braunfels, Texas. Not sure if we'll be in Q this Jan. 2018 either.

Had lunch with Roger and Lynn the other day and they are looking good. Not sure if it's news or not but they've decided to not travel as much.

Warm and humid in Iowa, think we'll head for Illinois tomorrow.

    Travel safe everyone.

  9. Last night we were under a tornado warning so we went into town (3 miles) to the fire station and stayed there until the storm passed. The Bellevue, Iowa firemen were very nice to us. Lots of rain. LOL!

Having lunch with Lynn and Roger today.

    Travel safe everyone.

  10. It was hot weatherwise in Cedar Falls, Iowa this weekend. Yesterday didn't make it to 70 degrees and had a northwest wind 15-20 mph. Moving to near Bellevue, Iowa today.

Made it through another race weekend without the car breaking. Driver didn't do a good job though so we didn't win the race but went a few rounds.

Our travel plans are changing some because Cali has a bad tooth and it is swollen under her left eye, She may need it pulled after the swelling has gone down so we'll probably have the vet. in Cedar Falls do it. Keeping the chalk handy. LOL!

  11. Moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa yesterday to a very nice county park. One of our challenges this summer is finding a spot where we can park nearly 65 feet of RV and trailer. I don't want to unhook the trailer all the time. I'll be racing at the local track this weekend and it's only 10 minutes from our campground. Nice bike trail right behind our spot.

only 14 more weeks of shoulder rehab to go!  only two more weeks one handed. whew!

Don't over do it. Sounds like a long time but it will be over before you know it.

We have made it to Fremont, Ne. Apparently there was bad weather around Omaha yesterday. Broken limbs and damaged buildings. College Baseball World Series is also starting in Omaha too. Just going to stay for 3 nights then moving farther east (Des Moines).

    Travel safe everyone.

  13. Believe I have the racecar fixed (for now). Raced last Sunday and it didn't break so we are headed east. Probably will race in Cedar Falls, Ia. in a week and a half. Currently in McCook, Nebraska.

Has everyone updated the map lately?

    Travel safe everyone.

  14. Last night the the entry handle  broke on the coach door, so glad we have the truck cab doors and could still get in and out. Went to a local rv parts place to get a replacement and they had it marketed up 50% over the internet price. The replacement piece is suppose to be "improved". It is also a little different so I modified the strike plate to fit the guide pins. What a pita. It did the same thing about 6 years ago. To fix it you break out the outside handle and drill a bunch of holes to make a bigger hole so you can get the springs and latch deal out of the strike plate. Hope I don't have to do it again.

    Travel safe everyone.

  15. Today we were going from Wichita Falls to Amarillo. Stopped in Childress for gas and lunch. There was no room to park where we bought gas so we went to a Walmart. In the corner of the lot was a Taco Bell so that's where we went. While having lunch my phone ran and it was Jeri. She asked  if we were there, that Freddy and Delcie had spotted our rig. Through all these years we had never exchanged phone numbers so we got to see Freddy and Delcie today. They are looking well and making the best of things. Having a garage sale this weekend too.

We made it to Amarillo with a side - head wind of 15 - 20 mph the whole way. Staying here for at least 2 nights.

    Travel safe everyone.

What's that old saying about If it wasn't for BAD luck..................  Hope things are looking up for you guys by now.

Joe, It kind of continues. Will have to wait until Denver to get the race car's driveshaft fixed because they can't get it done here before we want to leave. The city electrician got the plug fixed about 5 PM, glad we didn't wait around for him to show up and waste a day. My rear bike tire has been flat for awhile and slime wouldn't fix it. I had a repaired tube so I put it in and as I was blowing it up it exploded. No one was hurt and I was watching the pressure gauge. New tube and tire tomorrow cause we a next to a nice bike trail here and I need a ride.

RV parts dealer had to order the bracket to fix the slide awning. It should be here in the morning, Parts person said they'd try to work with me on the price. MSRP is $81 plus shipping. We can't open the slide until it gets fixed.

    Travel safe everyone.
