Air space is the bare minimum, if you have a piece of cement board, that's even better. Even bare plywood is better than any kind of carpet under/beside any electronics.

Also - folks needing a wheelchair at their *sticks and bricks* home - be advised the "normal" width of a "standard" wheelchair is 27 inches wide.  Many tract homes will have  28" wide doors for the bathrooms.  Sounds like it should fit, right?  (Darn "bean counter" designers!).

Unfortunately - *NOT*.  The width of the opening will be about 26 inches (or less) due to the framing AND the edge of the door when it's open.  Consequently (through actual experience) a 24" wide wheel chair is the minimum width which will fit.

Soooo - Buyer beware! - measure doorway openings *before* placing an order. Don't forget to include the edge of the door in that measurement! Common "inexpensive" brands, (eg: Drive) do have 24" chairs available without going to "extra cost" versions.

Amazon to the rescue, with offset hinges. Just put a set into middle son's trailer. Older trailer with a 24" door, and a walker that should fit. Now it does. They won't fix every door issue, so use your tape measure carefully.

We've never recomended flexible panels. The price per watt was the biggest reason, but the lifespan of the installed panels quickly became the main reason. Their first set lasted a year, so let's replace them with the same. SMH.

Flat stock has no strength on the short axis. Work hardening becomes a problem. You don't notice it until *Poof*, you notice. Angle stock, long enough to catch 2 joists, running front to back. Angle stock vertical risers, ending at the panel frames. Bolt the frames to the verticals, and the horizontals to the roof.

Deepwater Horizon ring a bell? It nearly sank BP, and it's echoes continue to affct their share price. Look at the oil industry overall.

City folks don't always have a wooden stick handy, so they added a throw away wrench to the package. Sell for a higher price, that way, and increases the sales of the throw away wrench.

Rickeieio is correct, there's 2 different posts, both very near the top. The complete setup is pulling a DRV, which I don't think of as good as earlier DRVs. They used to make a pretty solid rig, aside from the batt fiberglass insulation sliding down the walls from road vibration.

For the price and build quality of any new RV, I'd be looking hard at the used market. FB HDT group currently has a New Horizons @ $90, and a full set-up, ready to roll HDT, smart, and trailer. Admittedly the 5th is just another Indiana special, but a tun key set-up can often save $$$. 

There used to be a thread on here, from a poster who was on the other side of your question. It's been a long time since I remember seeing it, but if you dig, it should be there.

Aluminum strut. Good enough for the solar panel frames, good enough to mount with. Galvanized WILL rust, no two ways about it. Use deep, not shallow, 1 5/8" vs. 1". A lot stiffer, both wise and torsionally.

Fpmtngal, you bought your truck used, correct? Previous owner may have started the wear, with a too short bent pin. There was a lot of premature wear inflicted when the 2 1/2 hitches came on the market from people using an old pin that was just, just long enough to fit. Ask me how I know this. Ever since, we've used only straight pins.

Note the secure collar to prevent the wallowing of the angle getting into the hitch material. The extra length is also benificul, especially with a 2 1/2" reciever.

Ad hoc groups form and dissolve all along the road, as well as a steady stream of traffic on most of the roads, most days. More remote stretches may only see a vehicle every 12 hours, but almost certainly you'll be seen. There are alson several devices for maintaining contact with the outside world, such as Garmin Spot, and satelite phones by the dozens.
