  1. Check out Juniper Ridge in Show Low, AZ It would be much cooler that the 'valley' of AZ in the summer. You could see some snow in winter though but not like Flagstaff. Activities, pool and many Park Models. https://juniperridgeresort.com/ Another park in the area: We have former full-time friends who bought here & they love it... low key; not glitzy: https://kbarrvresort.com/ https://www.realty.com/home-listings/352046585/1664-Ponderosa-Lane-Lakeside-AZ-85929 https://www.woodfieldrv.com/
  2. Well.....there are thousands there that have an RV lot in parks, if that's what you mean. Since you're familiar with the area just choose some parks you'd like a lot and see if they have any for sale.
  3. Bread buttered and toasted in a fry pan is scrumptious! Much better than a toaster. The propane toaster oven would be great outside. I sure wouldn't use them inside.

  5. I think you'll just have to start calling places for their annual rates. It would be difficult to find an area that would be good for both summer and winter temperatures. You mentioned Arizona. You might look into the parks in Benson, AZ. It's a little higher elevation but not too high for winters... about 3600' EL. The summer temps aren't quite as warm as Tucson or Phoenix and the winters have some cold nights but warms up during the day. Put your name on the Escapees Co-op park in Benson. Lots of year-rounders there and it's a great, friendly park. No pool though. It would be difficult to find a cheaper, nicer one. https://skpsaguaro.org/ CT RV Resort (formerly Cochise Terrace) might be another one for you in Benson https://www.ctrvresort.com/ Texas would probably be very reasonable but hot in summer and cold in winter, depending where you are. Gulf Shores, Alabama is another good one or in the vicinity but again, hot in summer. Basically, there's no perfect place! You just have to decide what's important to you. Good luck!
  6. Could you give a link to the article you're talking about? Do you want to live in a RV park, mobile home park or on land you bought? I'm not understanding your post. You state "Encore Park or similar"..... There are plenty of RV parks that aren't under 'Encore' so you wouldn't want one of those?

    Alaska in 2024

Have a great trip! We drove up a few times and absolutely loved it. No issues with any repairs or windshields. We replaced all our tires before leaving on the last trip. I think newbies need to keep in mind not to drive fast and if on a gravel section pull over as far as possible or even stop completely if no one is behind you and wait for the oncoming vehicle to pass. That prevents a lot of rock throwing. The only reservations we made (about 3 weeks prior when we could better judge when we'd be in the area) were for the July 4 weekend (Alaskans like to camp, too) and for our stay in Teklanika campground in Denali - the farthest one you can drive. As it turned out, we were in the area early so on a whim we boondocked nearby and drove into the park early morning. We easily secured an additional 5 nights in the front campground, Riley Creek. Staying in the park for 10 nights we saw THE mountain 7 of the 10 days in full sunshine nearly all day. (Beautiful weather on our trip) We also saw every one of the 'big' animals in the park. We liked to go up on the Alaskan Hwy and return on the Cassier. We also did the Top of the World Hwy. Being able to spend the whole summer on this trip is the way to go!

    Alaska in 2025

Having been to Alaska a few times I really would not want to go with a group. Too confining. There were many times we stayed in a place for a week or so and at some places that we read about we left after an hour. I really think it's best to explore at your leisure and do things that YOU want to do. Of course, everyone is different. We met people along the route that we would meet up with at another place. We shared experiences. It really isn't a difficult trip... just long.
  9. It would be rare to have snow mid-May especially below the Rim. We rafted the canyon in mid-May and swam in the river. It was very hot. We did have one unplanned swim though. Our paddle boat flipped all 7 of us out going through Upset Rapids, rightly named! Also, we did fit our 40' in the campground but only a few sites would work. 😊
  10. I'd suggest you contact the backcountry office at Grand Canyon. This may help: https://www.nationalparks.org/connect/blog/grand-canyon-rim-rim-hike#:~:text=On this epic Grand Canyon, again to the South Rim. "You can also show up at the Backcountry Office (in person) and request a last-minute permit. If you don't get a spot, you get put on a waitlist with better odds every day you are on it."
  11. "Everything else" is not dry camping. There are many RV park in the area. I just now looked at if the OP wants a 'resort' he may look into Grand Plateau RV Resort. https://gprvresort.com/ https://www.campendium.com/utah/kanab There's also Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park which is a beauty & a 'must see' even if not camping there. Also, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is worth a tour. It's in a gorgeous setting. Here's Kaibab Camper Village https://www.campendium.com/arizona/jacob-lake
  12. No 'resorts' around there. Check for parks in Jacob Lake, AZ & Kanab, UT. There's also DeMotte Nat'l Forest campground just outside the gate ..... very nice, as is getting a site in the park itself. Also, lots of boondocking spots in the area.
  13. I'm trying not to roll my eyes 🤪 but you have 7 days to drive 2500 miles with two dogs? It will take 2 days to get across Texas! Are you the only driver? I'd recommend not making reservations and just stop when you get tired. Use WalMarts or Cracker Barrels or even truck stops. That's not really 'boondocking'. You don't have to know how. Just park and you're there. Nothing else to do!
  14. I've heard this one is good. https://blueskyrvservice.com/ Get 2 or 3 estimates and details on how they would fix it and then choose one.
  15. Then definitely the route I gave above.
