Hello All: Is there anyone in this forum that has a current Georgia HDT title? The most recent one I am finding in this forum is from 2017. We recently purchased a converted HDT with the standard requirements of to make it a motorhome and we are having difficulties with the State of Ga Department of Revenue to register the truck. The only tag they will issue for this vehicle is a commercial vehicle tag. We have tried to explain to them that is is for personal use to pull our 5th wheel and is not a commercial vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Question about TX registration for our RV (camper truck) Here’s our situation: I currently work in UT, my husband is self-employeed and can work anywhere. We plan to be full-time RVers by Aug/Sept 2021. We are in the process of buying our camper truck in NC. The truck will be in UT March-May, then my husband and daughter will start our road trip....I will join in Aug/Sept when I leave my job. We have family in TX and plan to make our domicile there while we travel full time. Is there any way we can avoid registering the vehicle in UT since it will only be in the state for 2-3 months? We have to claim Utah domicile because I work here. We have to park the truck on the street in UT, so I’m hesitant to go the Montana LLC route. If we put my Texan brother-in-law on the title with my husband, could we register in TX instead of Utah? Once I leave my UT job, I could then declare my domicile as TX and we could remove him and add me to the title/registration. Would this work?

As a new TX resident I attempted to get my Monaco motorhome registered they told me I would have to have it weighed first. They said it was a State requirement - that they could not accept what was on my SD title and registration, or on the manufacturer weight placard. I looked on the TXDOT website and found no such requirement. In fact, in the Motor Vehicle Registration Manual it clearly states that a motorhome is registered as a passenger vehicle and a weight certificate is only required if a weight DECREASE is being requested. It seems to me the county tax office is misinterpreting the rules. I have written TXDOT for clarification. What have others found.
