 I tried it and though mine was a failure as I did not whip the bananas that fine, it was still very delicious. I would have never imagined that just bananas would be able to sweeten bakers chocolate so well. And baker's chocolate is high in anti-oxidants.

I know this is an old thread but bananas are loaded with sugar. Not a good recipe for diabetics.  What happened to the people that used to post interesting  recipes?

Unfortunately most have gone to some other kitchens. My Mom used to make Brownies with Pork and Beans and I recently saw one of the New Amish YouTubers post a similar recipe using beans, cocoa powder and Honey. They were very tasty and she always loved to tell people what the ingredients were after the complemented her on them.  She also made the Best German Chocolate Cake from the recipe on the back of the chocolate bar she used. 

Two years ago at the National HDT Rally I gave away almost all of the cook books and recipe boxes I'd carried around since she passed. I can cook, but I dislike the clean up after and for her German Chocolate Cake there was a lot of clean up. Haven't tried the Bean Brownies yet, but after watching the YouTube it seemed the most mess was in a "Blender" and mine is pretty easy to clean.

ahhhh.  Grandma's recipes are the best. 

My grandma had a cookbook sold as a fund raiser to help the war effort.......in 1918.  We still make the eggless chocolate cake for special occasions.  It uses sour milk.  If you happen to have some half/half go bad, it's that much richer.

Two nights ago, we made Grandma's sauerbraten mit spaetzle and red cabbage.  Leftovers tonight.  To re-heat the spaetzle, put a smear of bacon fat or butter in a skillet and gently brown the dumplings.  Drown on sour gravy with the roast.  Yum.

I put on two pounds just typing this.

I have made brownies with dark beans but I can't imagine using pork & beans. At one time, I had a collection of "cakes" made using cans of white beans instead of flour. I wonder what happened to it?
