RDJ
We have been shopping for a new 5th wheel for full timing. We are being advised that for 5th wheel trailers, bumper pulls, & toy haulers waranty could be voided for fultiming. We've been told some mfg actually have "Certified for full time" units. Has anyone else heard of this?
Kirk W
Welcome to the Escapees forums. We are happy to do all that we are able to help you so feel free to post here any time. On the warranty issue, there are some RV manufacturers and some models by others that do have a clause as part of the warranty which states that living in it full-time voids any warranty. But not all manufacturers do that and some of those who do so, only apply it to some of their models. The reason is that since warranties are usually 1 year and occasionally 2 years, the amount of use by one who lives in that RV all of the time is many times that of the typical buyer who only spends some weekends and a few weeks of vacation in them. There are RVs built that do have the extended time traveler in mind and those do not have such prohibitions. It is always a good idea to read every line of the warranty on any expensive item that you but before you pay your money. The RV industry builds a very wide range of models & types of RV and if you have no experience with them, I believe that you would benefit greatly from a membership in the RV Consumer Group to get the educational materials that they supply to new members.
