  1.  Even though we tend to always buy new everything and have for years I can tell you one thing for sure, every RV we have owned has become better than new after we owned it for a year. In fact the New Horizon that we have now that we picked up a year ago April is at this time in better shape now than it was the day we picked it up from the factory. It's just the way it is.

We are now thinking about selling our current 5th wheel and building a longer one and one of the things holding us back is having to start that "getting through the first year" stage. Well along with the big first year hit we will encounter LOL!!

  2.  Is your outside unit 110 or 220V? We were thinking about selling our current New Horizon and building a new longer one and Mini Splits were on our radar but the system they install is 220V so now I'm not so sure.

Part of the reason I'm not so sure is that the inverter they install will not do 220V so I would need to handle that after market because I would want to be able to use them while off grid. AND for those times we are hooked up to 30 amp I would still want to use them so it would need to be off batteries.

We’re still hopeful that we can make it with the new one. We will be here until then.

We will roll in probably the 9th for our appointment on the 10th, I'm sure we will bump into each other. Well a social distancing bump LOL!!

New horizon does trades or they will sell for you for a %. We are having one built now and price wise it didn’t make sense to trade so we are going to put it up for sale (2011 drv) in aug or sept. New trailer is supposed to be done in oct. anybody coming to new horizon there is a brand new campground 90 ft pull through sites 5 minutes from new horizon called Smokey hill rv park all full hookups.

Well, we did talk to them about the possibility of a trade but like you, the numbers were not even close, not even in the same country close. The selling of a used New Horizon I'm afraid caters to a pretty small market and we don't want to own TWO New Horizons at the same time LOL!!

Oh man, your new rig will just miss the rally!!

You will be severely disappointed in going to a DRV from a NH.  It may be the right length or floor plan, but the quality is not there.  We are considering moving from a 2017 DRV Memphis (46'overall) to a 2013 or 2014 New Horizons just so I don't have to fix something every time we move.... or it rains...

Yup, you are probably right and I think if we do it we will go with NH again. We are in a 40' now and think we want to go 44'. We will be at NH early next month for our just over a year warranty run and will no doubt talk to them about our options. The bummer is they don't do trades.

  6.  We switched from a Class A to a 5th wheel and wanted something as stout or at least as close as we could get to what we were accustomed to in a Class A so after much research we ended up going with a New Horizons even though we (I) really wanted to save the money and go with a DRV. But after touring both factories we bellied up and and paid.

Now, it's crazy" but we are wanting to go bigger and once again I look at DRV because building a new rig and then selling within 2 years is not a very financially sound thing to do and by switching from a New Horizon to a DRV would dampen the sting BUT, I don't think we can make ourselves do it. We find ourselves coming to the same choice of going with another New Horizons, that must say something about them.

  7. We hunkered down in our winter location in Casa Grande Arizona 2 month longer than we normally do because of the virus and cancelled all of our summer plans that had us in popular tourist spots like Yellowstone, Cody and on and on. But we did escape the worst heat and moved north in Arizona to a remote area. We now plan to move into Colorado to sit a spell and then to Kansas to have some warrantee work done on our rig and then back to Colorado.

We do still have reservations to return to Casa Grande Arizona on November 1st but what happens virus wise will dictate if we actually do that. We might end up in Q as well but then I think about what to do if a person gets sick there, not much offered for help in that area. Dig a hole and crawl in I guess.

I decided to seriously look into SKP co-ops in the early summer of 2018.  After a fair bit of research, I decided I was most interested in Evergreen (WA), Park of the Sierras (CA), and Saguaro (AZ).  Park of the Sierras required me to stay there before, they would accept my deposit.  That attitude was a non-starter for me (echos of excessively bureaucratic home-owners associations).

So I signed up for the Evergreen and Saguaro waiting lists. It appears to me that it will be another 1 to 2 years before I will be able to become a member of either community.

We got on the list at Saguaro in early 2015 and are now below 70 on the list. It seems that most people that get in have been in the low 100's lately so we could probably jump in whenever but we are not ready yet.

Thanks, After reading everything in this thread, studying the websites and using Google earth I did send in the paperwork to put our names on two lists. We will be visiting them next year, I hope.🤪  If I guessed wrong we can always change. If I guessed right we gained a year the lists.

"Saying with a grin on my face" Come on now Filthy-Beast, we all spill our guts about what parks we like or are members of to you and then you just say you sent paperwork in to two parks without telling us which ones!!!! LOL,, come on man, spill YOUR guts.

North Ranch, although a Rainbow Park, used to have pickleball play in the pole barn with a very good group of players.

The closest pickleball for Benson is the new Kino Sports complex on I-10 - 20 new courts.   Sierra Vista also has pickleball.

Saguaro in Benson used to have a group playing by the propane area but disbanded.  The net is probably still stored in the barn!

We have heard that Wickenburg has Pickleball which is just 12 miles so that would be doable but we play almost every day when sitting for any length of time so that drive might get old but sill an option.

I actually went to the Kino Sports Park and played in a tournament this season while staying in Casa Grande, very nice complex but that's  45 mile drive. That's not going to happen every day LOL!!!

I'm play pretty competitive for the most part when it comes to Pickleball (even though some casual play is fun as well) so I look for areas with very active play.

  11.  We liked Jojoba but don't like California and would not settle in that state. Evergreen Coho is nice but no physical activities which means we would be driving someplace every day so that's out. The Escapee's North Ranch Ranch had some very nice sites but again no physical activities. In fact other than Jojoba we have not ran across any with things like Pickleball or a real nice gym, both very important to us.

We are however on the Saguaro list only because in is vey inexpensive to get in and fee's are low. I figured if we ever became broke for some crazy reason we could buy in there and exist at least. In fact we are far enough down the list that we could get a site very easily but again physical activities are pretty much not to be found and no Pickleball at all in the area.

  12.  I mentioned before that our original plans hinged around Yellowstone. Well now I hear a few things will not be open in Yellowstone, things that we don't really care about like the hotels and such so MAYBE this would actually be a good year to go. Maybe less people.

Our plans to travel back North from Florida have been changed and delayed by the closures of public campgrounds and Rv parks in some of the places that we were planning to stay or need to transit. Florida did not close private parks and we have found them very accommodating in helping folks whose travel plans have been altered stay. Georgia never closed their state parks or restricted stays in private parks. We are headed to a county park in Georgia the first week in May and will hang out in Georgia until things to the North open up. We are still planning on heading West to NM and AZ in August, September and October,

Social distancing in campgrounds/RV parks has not been a problem for us. We do not generally use the club houses, pools, etc. The biggest risk could be the laundry, but we have not had an issue with over crowding so far. The refrigerator and freezer size does require grocery shopping more frequently, but the stores have implemented senior only hours, occupancy limits and one way aisles to help facilitate social distancing. Social distancing has not been a problem for the outdoor activities like hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and walking the dog. It is my understanding that sunlight and artificial UV-C light kills corona viruses quickly.

When or if a vaccine is developed, the effectiveness and whether enough people will actually get vaccinated will determine future risk. I have read that only about 50% of Americans get the Flu vaccine and that as many as 50,000+ die of the Flu and associated pneumonia per year in the US. There also seems to be discussion about how deadly the Covid-19 virus really is since the death total is now including anyone with symptoms that could be corona virus including those that had other severe medical issues that may have contributed to or actually caused their death. It is my understanding that the risk of dying in an auto accident is at least twice that of dying from the Covid-19 virus. We all have to evaluate the risks we are willing to take. For now, I will choose to travel before we are ordered to stop driving and shelter in place to prevent deaths from auto accidents.

Boy be careful in Georgia, that governor is even opening theaters and all sorts of stuff in that state.

  14.  We were supposed to leave Arizona April 1st and head to Oregon but Oregon was locked down worse than Arizona at that time and our 1st 2 County Park reservations cancelled us so we opted to stay at the resort we winter at through April. Now the end of April is here and we decided to stay in Arizona through May because we feel pretty safe walking and bike riding in the resort where we would be pretty limited at our next stop which we moved back to June. We will certainly leave Arizona June 1st because it will be getting to warm for us, probably before then LOL!! We have reservations in West Yellowstone for 3 weeks, Billings for a week and Cody for a week starting in July which are up in the air at this point. I hate the thought of spending "close to" $100 per night and still not have the freedom to see what we want to se freely. We might just find someplace to hunker down and try to re-create this all next summer.

If I was going to hoard anything, it would be produce.  With the borders closed, there's no one to pick the crop in the field.  I saw on the news where they interviewed a farmer with 70,000 acres and no one to harvest it.  Normally, he uses migrant workers from Mexico on work visas.

Which is sad with so many people now unemployed and so many on Welfare.

  16.  Are we saying that THAT many people took care of business while at restaurants? I would never have imagined. And a roll per day? For how many people? I never really payed any attention to how much we use until this all started so I started to pay attention. As it turns out we get on average 8 days out of a roll, that's for 2 people and we only use the bathroom at our rig now of course.

At the super show in Tampa earlier this year, I spoke to Brian at the NH show trailer about that, he said they no longer will install them as they had too many complaints of bikes being damaged " shaken apart " is what he mentioned.

After reading your comment I reached out to Cole at NH because I certainly don't want to share bad info (not that I was questioning you) and as you said they are not offering the lift option any longer. Now that many of their units are in the 48' range they are getting comments of more bounce and are now suggesting the wheeled platform option in the rear. In fact they just did one that holds a Smart Car I see on their Facebook Page.
