Did you consider a Blackstone first?

I did look at the Blackstone tailgater version but felt the Camp Chef 60x pro was a better fir for me. If I were thinking about a unit to sit on the patio I might have made a different choice, not sure.

  2.  I guess I should touch back on this. First off thanks for all of the comments!! We did sell the Green Mountain smoker grill and purchased a Camp Chef PRO 60x 2 burner and bought a BBQ box and griddle and so far I'm in love with it. I love the folding legs with built in levelers and the 2 side shelves to begin with BUT the griddle is my new favorite friend when it comes to cooking.

When we get to our winter location I plan to buy a double griddle as well. I cook almost everything on the griddle.

Yesterday was our 6th anniversary of the sale of our house and going fulltime. Our fulltime days are numbered though because of the new house being built. Hope it is finished by next May.  The lot is all graded, got to resurvey for the house.

I notice there is a southward movement by a few. Guess it is that time again.

Got our flu shots on Saturday too. Have you gotten yours?

My Broncos didn't have a good game yesterday either. The season is young.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff   :)

Congrats on the 6 years, that's a good chunk of time out seeing the country. Far more than most will ever see. Is the plan to continue having a RV after the house is finished or are you going to hang up the keys?

Hmmm I've only owned my Tiffin since 2010.  While I like my coach, should I trade it off I will not replace it with another Tiffin product.  Oh, and it hasn't yet made the trip to Red Bay.  I have found far more competent folks, in my opinion, to work on it much closer to home.

    Joe

This is our second Tiffin product and as far as motorhomes go we can't complain. I don't think there will be a third however. If and when we make a change I think it will be to a 5th wheel when we start sitting in spots longer. Not this year and probably not next year but the year after, well who knows.

We have been sitting in Shipshewana Indiana the last 4 days and will hit the road early in the morning and start our bee-line to Red Bay. Hope to roll in there on Saturday bt dang, that's lke650 miles away!! That normally takes us like 3 months to travel that far at least!!!

Come on People. Has facebook killed this thread?

Not even a comment on last nights football game?

Here in the Austin-San Antonio, Hill Country area We've had a gas shortage since Harvey. Stations a slowly coming back but limited fuel. Regular unleaded only (87) no 89 or 93 and not all stations that sell diesel have it yet.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff   :)

I'm not sure if Facebook killed the thread or if what I hear about some of the original group wanting to split things up is the cause but regardless it seems we got in on the tail end of the party and you are right, this thread is for all practical purposes lost it's luster.

As far as football goes you know that I'm a KC fan and Diane is a cheaters,,,,,,, I mean Patriots fan so it was a interesting night here LOL!! And it was her birthday to LOL!!! None the less KC made one good opening season statement last night. I do know that watching the late games while on east coast time sucks LOL!!

     Stay well down there.

Good old motorhomes, always ready to try you for some reason.  We are currently camped at a fairgrounds, and the annual fair is coming up.  Well, we were in a section that you can't be in when the fair rolls around, so we had to move.  As we were moving the bus, I had the dash air turned on to make sure everything is working ok, well it was 99 degrees too.  When I was backing into the new spot, all of a sudden I realized the dash air quit.  Hmmm, must be a blown fuse.  I tried it a few more times while settling the motor home and figured I'd wait a couple of days and then find out where the fuse was and replace it.  Today was the day to look for the fuse and I just turned on the system to see if anything had changed.  Of course it worked fine!!  I ran it for the better part of an hour and it was still working fine when I gave up and shut it off.  Was I dreaming the other day when nothing would work??  Well, we are getting ready to head for Colorado in a couple of weeks, so that will make or break the system for sure.  Just another adventure!!

Those dang gremlins!!! We were moving from Petoskey Michigan to Empire a week ago and a (what must have been a really fat) gremlin ran across the floor and cracked a floor tile. We have a few more weeks here in Michigan but I guess our route down south has changed and because of the cracked tile (we have heated floors and I don't want to take a chance changing it out) and a few things that we need taken care of under warranty (We gave Tiffin a list within our first year so they will honor those things under the 1st year warranty) we will head south to Red Bay before sliding over to Arizona.

In the mean time we have REALLY been loving Michigan.

     Travel safe everyone.

It's been so hot here in Texas the morning lows are between 75 & 80 degrees and the heat index around 105. I've had no desire to work on my racecar inside of the trailer. It has doors on 3 sides but it would still be like an oven. Looks like we'll have tropical storm Harvey bringing us lots of rain this weekend. More humidity is what we need. LOL!

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff

Dang, you morning temps are above our mid day highs LOL!! Hang on, it will cool down soon.

  9. Damn Roger, we have been RVin for about 18 years I guess and the last 10 in a motorhome and can honestly say we have not heard of anyone that has had a continuous string of bad luck with RV's like you guys have had, really sorry to hear about the latest bout. Hang in there!!

Ouch, you guys. We certainly feel your pain. Did you need a tow? And then it's where to get service and a motel that allows pets if you can't stay in the rig.
I think that the happiest period in my life was the first two years of full timing in the ol" Airstream (Red Rooster). Trying to get back there but, I've gotta get the Beave repaired and sold first. We'll meet you guys down the road somewhere...I hope!

    R

You will get er done Roger, in due time. Just enjoy what ya got going on now and things will fall into place.

That sounds like a fantastic place Kirk - sadly after living in the west for too long, we can't handle humidity any longer.  Our average humidity is generally less than 20%.  When it gets to 37%, I start "suffering"!  If I could handle the humidity, I'd be very interested in that place.  We're going to stick with Colorado.  Moved from TX back in 1999, and tried a couple of years to re-adjust to TX, but the body just isn't going along with it

We have come to the conclusion that finding a perfect spot just isn't possible. I think we have decided it will have to be a combination of 2 places when the time comes. How that will happen I have no idea LOL!!

Is this company one that you would invest in if you hadn't been left the annuity?  And are you of an age when you will have to take RMDs from that account?     Feeling comfortable with the annuity company would be your first task.

If it were me, I'd be moving it into my investment accounts, but that is because I feel very, very comfortable with our accounts.

    Barb

It's a company that our financial advisor with Edward Jones says they work with so I guess the answer could be yes as far as someone we might have money with otherwise. There are a few years left before funds would have to be taken out because of age.

  13.

Here’s one for you guys. In part of an inheritance that just came our way is an annuity that has matured that we can either transfer into our investment accounts or open an account with the holder and let it stay put for up to 5 years with a guaranteed 3% before having to take it out. Or of course cash it out which we won't do.

Our first thought is that we have a couple accounts that are doing much better than 3% right now so moving it makes sense but the market is ripe for a “correction”. In that case we are thinking about leaving it sit at the guaranteed 3% until a correction happens and then make a move with it.

Does that sound like sound thoughts in the current market?  (Oh crystal ball)

Our racing summer has come to an end. Last weekend on the second time run something happened and the engine is not happy. It either has hurt valves or a blown head gasket or both. Bummer.  We'll be heading back to Texas soon from Springfield, illinois. We'll probably stop in Canton, Texas for http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/ on our way to San Antonio area.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff   :(

Well dang, that's to bad Jeff. Hopefully it isn't hurt to bad and you have it running strong again soon.

  15.  Bang those gears Jeff!!!

Happy to hear you are enjoying the new S&B's Roger, hope to see ta down south this year. If so will it be the same rig or something different in the works?

We have worked our way across the country from Oregon and are in Milw. Wisconsin right now. Will head to Door County on Monday and then continue up and over in Michigan. First time in this part of the country and lots to see.

  16.  I don't know how you guys deal with his mid section weather. We have been in the mid state for only a few weeks now and I'm already getting tired of the storms coming through. I remember this growing up in Iowa and I'm pretty sure after this years travel I'll turn it all back to a memory and just stay out west and south in the winter. Hell a guy can't fly RC planes in this crap LOL!!

It was hot weatherwise in Cedar Falls, Iowa this weekend. Yesterday didn't make it to 70 degrees and had a northwest wind 15-20 mph. Moving to near Bellevue, Iowa today.

Made it through another race weekend without the car breaking. Driver didn't do a good job though so we didn't win the race but went a few rounds.

Our travel plans are changing some because Cali has a bad tooth and it is swollen under her left eye, She may need it pulled after the swelling has gone down so we'll probably have the vet. in Cedar Falls do it. Keeping the chalk handy. LOL!

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff

That driver will be back in full swing soon I'm sure, at least he's not breaking stuff any more.

Hope all goes well with Cali.

  18.  Well, we started out trek east June 1st and have slowly made it to Spearfish SD so far. We will move ALL THE WAY to Rapid City Monday and spend a few days.LOL!! We still plan to drop into the top of Michigan August 1st.

Everyone have a safe travel (or not travel) summer!

Don't over do it. Sounds like a long time but it will be over before you know it.

We have made it to Fremont, Ne. Apparently there was bad weather around Omaha yesterday. Broken limbs and damaged buildings. College Baseball World Series is also starting in Omaha too. Just going to stay for 3 nights then moving farther east (Des Moines).

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff    :)

Wow, your luck must be changing, you drove in AFTER the weather for a change.
