  1. Okay Steve and Lee - I think we need to stop this dropsy stuff. I don't think my lemon bars made quite the mess you guys had to clean up but they were bad enough. Had a wonderful Mother's Day and I hope everyone had the same. We're expecting Wind today. Gee are we in NM? 50 mph gusts. Sound familiar Dave and Lee? But the good news is that it's supposed to calm down by the time we're ready to leave later this week.

  2. We had such a great time tonight with Dave and Nancy. We were going to go out for Chinese food but couldn't ever find the restaurant. So we gave up and went to Yelp for help. I started reading the names of places and Nancy said - that one sounds good. Dave agreed and so off we went to find the Zinc Wine Bar and Bistro. It was out in the University area of Albuquerque and the food was beyond wonderful. And the company was even better. Thanks guys for such a good time.

  3. Have internet once again. Mike and Deb that is such wonderful news. Congrats. Wow - two house sales in such a short time. Maybe that bodes well for everybody else that's trying to unload a house.

We are in Albuquerque tonight. At the same park with Shadowtracks but I need a shower before we can track them down. Spent last night listening to the wolves howl. It was beautiful. The weather is about perfect. Not much wind and in the 80's. Yippee.

  4. 36 degrees when we got up this morning. Haven't had to use the heat in so long we almost forgot how to turn it on. Then we had some more excitement. Our LP gas detector went off. It's amazing how fast I can read those little booklets when we need to find out what's wrong. Ours was a malfunction of the unit that could be fixed by resetting it. Thank goodness, that's all that was wrong. Now I know that if it's a pulsing alarm and red, that's the danger signal.

Also, to add to the joy of our lives - last night, after it got cold, our door wouldn't shut after Jim took the girl's out. I guess when we got locked in and they had to pry us out, something got bent just enough that it won't work when it gets cold and the metal contracts. Another project for Jim today. But not until after we go sight seeing. Priorities you know. (He finally did get the door shut and we can lock it when we leave today.)

  5. We are camped at the entrance to Petrified Forest National Park. The Crystal Forest Gift Shop has a few campsites. For $10.75 a night you can have 20 amp electric or you can dry camp for free. A couple of rigs are parked next to us but they have strange license plates on them so I'm assuming they're from a foreign country. Drove up and down Rte 66 in Holbrook and tomorrow we'll go explore the park.

  6. We hope to be in Albuquerque by Saturday but it all depends on weather. I think it's supposed to improve this week so I'm sure hoping it does. I agree - sure am glad we did the east coast last year. We're doing much more of a straight line (well kind of) from AZ to MT. I'll let you guys know as we get closer to Alb. Sure hope we can meet up for dinner.

  7. Hey Dave - we will probably be headed out I-40 on Tuesday but we plan on taking a couple of days to get to ALB. I can't believe their weather. If the kids weren't there we would certainly avoid it this year. I've been keeping on eye on the weather all along the route and this week does look a little better, I think.

  8. Dave and Nancy - we're leaving on Monday and are headed towards Albuquerque. Just not sure when we'll get there. What route are you taking to Bryce/Zion? There must be somewhere along the line where we can meet.

Freddy & Delcie - I am so glad you guys are finally feeling better. I'm not sure your weather is going to be very good for awhile yet. It still looks awfully cold to me in Colorado.

Mike and Deb - sure hope your closing goes through on the 3rd. Hopefully we'll meet up with you down here in the lower 48.

  9. alive and well. Left Mesa, went to the Grand Canyon, Laughlin, Bakersfield and now parked at my brothers, in Monte Rio CA.(1 1/2 hrs north of San Fran, on the Russian River and 15 minutes from the coastal town of Jenner.). Will be here till we mosy over to S Lake Tahoe for our summer at

The weather here is great, a little cool but sunny. Went to the coast Mon, drove up to Fort Ross St Park on PCH 1, but it was closed. Still enjoyed the drive. That is a section of road I wouldn't take the MH. Did a hike into Russian Gluch and Karla collected some pretty rocks.

Took a walk in The Armstrong Woods Redwood Grove yesterday and it as always is amazing to see such large and old trees.

Plan on kayaking along Pt Reyes Nat'l Seashore on Sat w/ my sister who also lives in the area.

My kids are coming here for a visit in a couple of weeks,

so, all is good w/ us

    thanks for asking

    eric and karla

Thanks for checking in. The last time I checked you hadn't moved your peg on the map. Glad to know you're having a great time with family for a little while. Have fun this summer at Tahoe.

  10. Went back to Superstition Skies tonight. Just love Brant & Kerry. Going to miss them this summer but they said they'll be back next year. it's warm down here and supposed to be windy on Friday. But it's so much better than what the south has been experiencing. Hope everybody is safe out there.

  11. It is so good to catch up with everybody again. I feel like I've been out of touch for a lifetime even though it's only been a week. The Walk was really great and I'm sure glad we helped out. We're back in Las Vegas and going to have dinner with Jeri and Terry tonight. Now onto blog reading for the next couple of hours.

  12. Pa and D - hope your don't need to be in WY for a couple of weeks yet so it has time to warm up and make the snow go away.

Sailbad - have a good time cleaning. Maybe you can trick Lee into using one of those Swiffer thingies for you.

We are headed into Death Valley today so I won't be able to catch up with anybody until we get back out. No internet. So everybody stay safe and I'll check back in in about a week or so.

  13. Well my friend arrived yesterday and we had a really long talk last evening. Then today we went to Truth or Consequences to check out the Elephant Butte State Park and the Monticello unit on the north end of the lake. We both like the park we are in better than any of the other parks in the area. After to Parks tour we went to KBOB'S for dinner and had Kbobs. They were good. I haven't had one for a long time now. After returning to the campground I started getting the trailer ready to pull out tomorrow. I'm very short on water so I tried to get the sand from the wind storms cleaned up and about all I accomplished was making so mighty nice looking mud pies. I'll be staying in a commercial Rv Park tomorrow up near Dave's Place so I'll just wait and try to get the thing mucked out up there. The wind was fairly calm this morning and a good share of the Day but it's been Blowing with Vengence for the past 4 hours. It's supposed to be nice for the next 10 days. I sure hope that weather man isn't having pipe dreams. Well back to my job of getting this rig ready to roll again.

From the sounds of your weather - you rig is rolling whether its ready or not. Have a good drive up the road tomorrow.

  14. TEXAS IS ON FIRE!!! There is a wildfire burning a few miles SW of us that had burned over 100'000 acres yesterday. Wind 35 to 45 mph with gust to 60 predicted for today. With 97+' heat and single digit humidity it will be hard to stop. There is also a big fire at Marfia N of the Big Bend, and several in the panhandle. WE are safe but worried for our friends and neighbors that have lost ther grass, If they don't loose livestock they still can't stay in buiness with nothing for them to eat. Lucky the mkt. is real good now.

Delcie is in the hosp. at Childress with pnumonia, she is doing better, hope to get her home Monday. The only good thing about that is I will probly loose weight from batching.

We plan to leave for our campground host job the 1st of May. We are ready for the cool of the mtns.

    LIFE IS GOOD!!!

    Freddy

Prayers for Delcie. Tell her we need her to take good care of herself. Definitely sounds like time to head north for you guys.

I just finished reading one of the blogs I follow and they had to evacuate because of the Marfia fire. Texas is really in bad shape this year from being so dry. Please be safe and hopefully your neighbors and friends will be okay with their cattle.

  15. Sandie -- thought I would let you know there is snow on the Superstition Mountains all around your place.

I bet those mountains are just gorgeous. We didn't have any snow coming over the hump but there's still a little bit of snow on Mt. (whatever it is here). The wind has finally given up but it's still chilly. I'm sure Death Valley will warm us up nicely next week.

  16. Monday we had a meal with Mike and Julie in Jerome, Az before they left the area. On the 14th we will be back in Paphrump, Nv to attend the national ALFA rally.

May go to Death Valley during this week, if we do, we will checkand see if you are still there. Then on the 19th we are going to fly from Vegas to Texas to visit our grandsons for a week.

We'll be in Death Valley until the morning of Monday, the 18th. Hopefully our phones will work this time while we're there. I know we won't have internet service. We're headed to Pahrump tonight and then into Furnace Creek tomorrow morning. Sure would like to see you guys if you do come into the park.

  17. I think we are really in for the wind now. We're in Las Vegas and they have a high wind warning for tomorrow. Winds of 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Guess the slides will be coming in. Sure glad we're not on the road anywhere. We did have some wind getting here today and Jim said he sure was grateful for the Safety Plus steering stabilizer.
