  1. They die instantly but it is now"open" to where someone approaching for some reason like to see if the person is dead or what ever. Plus no solution to vandalism.  Again I would be tickled to death to  use nuclear if we could solve these problems in a way I could really trust and not just more of the trust me I know what I am doing and I know what  is best for everyone. You obviously know a lot but at this point you are not selling me on your product.  Still listening and watching though.

  2. I am wondering what physical size a "tiny" nuclear power set up would be.  What would it take to protect it from theft or vandalism.   I know only and idiot would mess with one but lets face it we have a lot of idiots out there. There are dumb ones and some highly intelligent ones.  Should we think about stuff like this before we just start building and put them out there. If a giant nuclear plant can fail or be breeched surely the "tiny" ones can suffer the same.

  3. It is hard to say without seeing it but at least twice I have fixed a leak with an approriate size hose clamp with rubber? gasket under the clamp.  It was so easy I never went back and did a "permanent repair. One was on the hot water discharge line of a large water heater. So what if it only lasted about 5 years.  I am sure on yours it will depend on where it is located and may not work at all but if it doesn't you sure haven't lost a lot of time and money.

  4. What is the "mess"?  construction?  I went  NM to Memphis last March and had the fewest issues in years. I do like going  through OKC  in less busy hours. Granted that was a little over a year ago.

I returned from Memphis via I40 to Little Rock, I30 to New Boston a little east of Texarkana then picked up Hwy 82 to Hwy 287 just south of Wichita Falls then NW on 287  back to I40 at Amarillo. Most of  Hwy 82 is 2 lane but not to busy most of the way. I usually take the loop around the N. side of Paris, TX. Again that was just over a year ago. Most of 287 is diveded 4 lane but not Interstate.

BTW at Little Rock I usually take the southern bypass around Little Rock a little before you get to Little Rock.   Not unusual to have road construction in some parts of Ark. Last year they were working on multiple mostly small bridges  on the interstate in eastern Arkansas

In 2014 there was an explosion and fire deep inside the WIPP containment caves.

I am aware of it.  I am aware of a low level shipment headed there that fell off a truck on an unpaved mountain rd and rolled and slide about 20yards down hill.  I know it was never reported in public and it disappeared over night.  I know we evidently can't maintain and contain that resevoir  in Fla and more hazardous materiels than  I will ever know about.  I would expect that anyone that thinks there is no danger from the chemicals and radioactivity should build right next to it and use it for a swimming pool and their drinking water.  If we can't or won't maintain or process something so low level then why  should anyone trust that we will do any better  with anything more dangerous.  I  have no issue with nuclear if we can and will solve the issues but until I can believe anyone that that will happen I guess I will have to be an evil greeny or lefty in that regard. It would just tickle the hell out of me if it could be worked out.  BTW greenies and leftys are all citizens and get a voice and a vote.

Where have I heard this before, Trust me, I know what I'm doing.  And I'm from the government and I am here to help you.

  6. you should only use reviews as a rough guideline IMO. A park I stayed at a lot had never had a bad review and had put in a tornado shelter had to  evict someone when he stopped them from doing something he thought was a risk to the park and and other people in the park. The guy and wife had stayed there year round for several years on a month to month and the guy walked away cursing the owner loudly. He was immediately informed he had to leave when that months rent was up.  Then Bingo a bad review was posted.

That is just a political problem not an engineering problem

Respectfully disagree.   Have you heard today about the radio active water and other contaminents they are currently worried about in Fla. in some kind of containment resevoir.  The company made their money and left the clean up to the taxpayers and the 'government"   Of course this is all considered fake news by many. Often elected people.

  8. Jim and john I read the power consumption is .74 amps per hour on 12Volt. Didn't see what it was on 120v. On their site it showed reg price for the 63qt was normally over $1700. but out of stock they are less than $500.  In fact I believe it  was the same price as the 42qt.  After double checking the 42qt shows $429.99 and the out of stock 63 qt shows $474.99.

  9. I have not followed the changes in the GI bill. My son used the Montgomery GI bill for four years of college and I am thankful for that.  The version I had had a 10 year expiration  and due to life circumstances I was only able to utilize it in a very limited way. Even that bit was very useful but I wish it didn't have the expiration or the possibility of transfer a portion or all of it to one of my children.  I blew one semester out of an unnatural fear.  I went to register and the whole process was so intimidating that I almost ran from the building.  At that time I would have been more composed in a firefight. Stupid and embarrasing right. (like my spelling) At my age who the heck cares if it is embarrasing. Thank goodness I got over it.

And did he run a fever after 2nd dose?  If high enough that could stress his system and cause the dormant chicken pix virus that was lying along his spine.  Of course it could be any stressor in his.

I was surprised to hear it so I was asking if he had the shingles shot which he had a long time ago. I think he mentioned having a fever but I didn't think to ask about high and I don't think he mentioned it. Initially they were a little worried about get into his eye as it manifested on his head.  I had vaguely heard of that but none confirmed.  He has good medical care and his is not Uber painful.  He is still glad he got the vaccine.

Will you need proof of vaccination in the  future anytime you are admitted to hospital? Elective surgery? I have no idea but its one area where it may be mandated. Just think out loud.

I have an in person VA visit next week.  I guess I will find out if they will want to see it.  Of course it is the same VA that gave me that gave me the shots so it should be in my records. Your thinking makes sense.

If the vaccine does not work, why get it?
They push the vaccine as the end all, but then say it doesn’t work.  SMH

What credible source says it doesn't work?   I see/hear a certain element say that but I don't see them as legitimate and without an agenda to make that prouncation.  Almost all information I read/see/hear says it is very legitimate but not without some issues.  I guess Trump thought it works since him, his wife and I most if not all his children got vaccinated.    IMHO

If you are vaccinated and don’t have and can’t get COVID, how the heck is wearing a mask protection for someone else? Makes no sense

As much as I can see your point I also recognize how we still don't know for sure all the the ins and outs of this disease  so I don't take for granted that it can't be passed. Plus the sucker keeps mutating which could change the possibility of infecting others. Is it worth the risk if we are starting to beat it down to let it up again.

Besides what I was taught as a Marine I learned on the street not to give up the upper hand without a fight. When I was about 15 a guy with an iron bar attacked me and a buddy. He disabled my buddy by surprised and hurt me pretty good but I got the best of him and had him down and I didn't let him up until the help arrived.  He was really lucky I didn't do more damage as in my mind he did not deserve any breaks but I did make sure he couldn't hurt anyone else.   I had to hold him in a headlock for at least 20 minutes until help arrived.

This closes the thread for me as I have had my say.  Will not be viewing additional comments.  Cheers all around to friend and foe alike.

If you don't mind and we have your permission some of the others may decided to comment among ourselves about the subject if we wish.  Thank you and have a great day.

Even pets have to have proof of vaccinations to travel or be in certain areas.  I just don't think any of this qualifies for "slippery slope" or government overreach arguments.  It's just good sense and trying to control a disease.

100% Agree and as a memory test I believe in some of the olden days you used to have show that you had been vaccinated for some other diseases to travel to certain areas. Hope the old memory is correct.

I talked to a relative in Tucson last night and he has had to show his card twice. Its seems if you had been vaccinated ,a certain donut shop ( i won't mention the name  but  some letters areKxxxxy Kxxxx) will give a free donut.

    Clay

True at one location in Albuquerque for sure. They took my word for it so I did not have to dig it out. Tragically their coffee machine was down so it was a critical situation. How do you enjoy a donut without coffee and they didn't actually make money off me.  I think they are going to make a ton of money off extra donuts and coffee and other drinks doing this.

BTW today Jersey Mikes is donating all proceeds to charity for sales today.  I never ate at one until about a month ago but was convinced to try it by a friend/volunteer that moved here from NJ when he retired.
