We started out in September with our 1st RV too. We've been wanting to do this for years now and have been reading the numerous forums for over 10yrs now (including this one) which has certainly helped a ton. So far we're glad we made the jump into this life style. A great forum is the the Newmar Owners Group at iRV2.com. Lots of great info on our units and think you'll find it worthwhile to check it out.

Last September it took use only 1.5 hrs to obtain our licence and establish domicile/voting rights at the Crestview County Office which also has a DMV office (not the main DMV office is Destin. MyRvmail.com has also been good to work with.

1) I don't air down. Would though if I had small children on board with a concern of pushing the parking brake while parked. I probably should air down once and awhile to check my low pressure alarm and spring brake activation. 2) I'm not aware of being able to shut off the low air warning. If I could, I wouldn't because I'd likely forget to turn it back on afterwards. Leaving it off would cause some problems if my air system was compromised during transit (spring brake will be activated and will lock up the brakes if pressure drops too low). If you have a fast idle option, it would quicken the air up time at startup.

We set up our address with MyRVmail.com (who also handles Good Sams mail) approximately 3 months prior to setting up our domicile in early September. It's located in Crestview, FL (Okaloosa County). Need 2 statements (we used Bank accounts) showing the new Crestview address so this takes time.... Also Passport and Drivers Licences (we also took our birth certificates and SS Cards just in case). Only took us 1.5 hours to obtain our drivers licence and across the hall to set up our domicile with full voting rights! We used the DMV office at the County Office (recommended) in Crestview and not Destin. It was surprising easy. Prior to choosing Okaloosa Co, I called the DMV office and the agent I talked to was familiar with the MyRVmail.com address. Again, it was surprisingly easy to set everything up. We didn't register a vehicle during this process. I was kinda concerned because of issues I've read of those setting up with St Brendan's Isle. So far, everything is working out fine.

There's a good post on iRV2 on utilizing SIM cards in a router with antenna. My son set us up with a similar cusom made system and it's a sweet setup.
