Ok retested resistor with different settings. Will post results along with pertinent data. Unfortunately don’t know what the normal specs should be for the resistor but would save me $100 if I don’t have to replace it also. Using pin 3 as the ground according to Pete’s picture below I was only getting the following readings on 2000k ohms.  No readings on 200, 2000, 20k, or 200k.  The readings are as follows  Pin 1/3–nothing, pin 2/3-058 ohms, pin 3/4-338 ohms  No readings using pin 1,2,or 4 as ground,  Anyone able to interpret this?  Above my knowledge and pay grade.  Gonna replace fan motor regardless.  YTwJtuBl.jpg1XLeX5zl.jpg

    Carl,

I may be wrong but I believe pin 1 is 12vdc from battery, pin 2 is signal to trigger (probably scr pack) to determine the called for setting, pin 3 ground, pin 4 power out to motor. pin 1 to 2 should be open (power - ground) pin 2 to 3 would be across the signaling leg, pin 3 to 4 you are reading across the output to the motor, which would probably change based on signal on pin 2. Don't know what the reading should without knowing what is inside case.

Volvo 16 pins OBDII connector wiring pins to go to a J1939 connector if that helps. I have the Directlink on a 2020 Volvo VNR 640 and the heavy duty kits makes it plug an play, the wire from & to Jacklope I used a 12awg 4 condutors SOOW cable and it has been flawless for @ 3 years now.

    Pin Number     Signal
    3     J1939+
    5     GND
    6     ISO15765+
    11     J1939-
    12     J1708+
    13     J1708-
    14     ISO15765-
    16     BATTERY

    Wiring Connections for the adapter:
    Volvo     Signal         J1939
    5     Ground         A
    16     Battery     B
    3     J1939-H     C

    Carl,

What was the fuse number.  The stuff I sent you earlier was Gen I info and would not apply to you (I think).  I looked at the Gen II schematics and there is a lot of difference.  My guess is that the fuse is the Climate Control Fuse, F47, 30 amp.  That feeds the "Blower Control" unit and I can't find a blow-up of it.

If you let me know the Fuse # and type of fuse I will tell you how to check the DC current draw with your DC clamp-on meter.

    Hope this helps,

Just wondering if you use the program? I have given some thought to a change and like the open source concept. I did find Money Manager EX and it looks impressive.

    Kirk,

I used it steady for about 3 years but I haven't used it much in the last few years. According to reviews it's a little tasking to setup, but I found that after a couple entries it got a lot easier to use. It used to come with a test database as an example, but I'm not sure it still does. I use the portableapps.com version of the software.

In my diesels I run Howes.  Anybody suggest what works best in D13s?  I have some Howes sitting around and I am wondering IF it would be OK to use it in the Volvo.

I've been running Howes in my D13 for almost 3 years and @ 51,000 mile haven't had any issues.

I've not heard of Blue Beacon. I see them on google for locations, but don't see the "how it's done" in the description. Is it and automated wash, like a car wash or is it just a huge building with a couple of well meaning kids using high pressure guns and soap?  Any ideas what they would charge for a pick-up with trailer?

Blue Beacon is usually @ $55.00 for the truck (HDT) and @ $35.00 for a 45' trailer, Linda is right it is based on length. You pull into big building and usually about 5 people spay prewash, shop, brush it if you ask and rinse, you can also add RainX uv blocker to the wash.

  7. Using my HDT every day driver for almost 3 years and have been in every store or food lot that I want to go. I even did drive thru's when I couldn't go inside to get food. Had wife drive truck to keep out of overhangs and I walked next to it to order & pick-up. Before HDT had long bed, crew cab dually and did the same thing.

I think that might be helpful to anyone who is considering the TSD care or even that of some other discount service.

    Kirk,

Here js one for Dec. 12, 2021, it was a really good discount at a Weigel's in Kingston, TN. Not all of them are this big of a discount.

Just wondering, is the $3.11 what you paid at the pump with a discount card? If with a card, did that reflect the amount before or after the part taken by TSD?

    Kirk,

The pump will show the price at the 4.05 price, that will be billed to TSD and they will place their price and add the fee and take from you account. If you would like to see the number, I can post a pdf to show how they do it.

  10. Below are the instructions from On The Go.  Copied straight from the instruction.

Step 5: Add the correct amount of salt into the top for your softener.
    - One full 26 oz. box of iodized or non-iodized salt for the Standard model.
    - Two full 26 oz. boxes of iodized or non-iodized salt for the Double Standard Model.
    - Four full 26 oz. boxes of iodized or non-iodized salt for the Park Model Water Softener.

A few Ways to add Salt
    - Pour salt into the softener.
    - Mix salt with warm water and pour the solution into the softener.
    - Pour salt into the softener while periodically pouring water slowly over it with a cup.

In extremely hard conditions, also use 1-2 teaspoons of Super Iron Out for the Standard Model, 2-
    - Rinse for 24-30 minutes for the Double Standard Model.
    - Rinse for 50-60 minutes for the Park Model Water Softener.

Step 7: Increase water flow to a full stream.
    - Rinse for 3-4 minutes for the Standard Model.
    - Rinse for 6-8 minutes for the Double Standard Model.
    - Rinse for 10-12 minutes for the Park Model Water Softener.

Step 8: To verify the regeneration process is complete use the hardness test strips to insure the water at the
OUTPUT of the softener is soft. Soft water is 0-3 GPG. At the end of the regeneration process the water
should also not have a salty taste.

Step 9: Regeneration cycle is complete.

Hmm, interesting. So you wired everything in the Jackalopee by outputting the power and ground from the Jackalopee? How did you terminate +12V (in and out)?

I used the 12Vdc from the trailer in cable and  used the ground lug marked brake ground. I'm thinking about running a separate 12Vdc from the battery, but I want to switch it so it isn't hot all the time. Thinking about a relay triggered from the 12Vdc that I'm using now.

I noticed you have DirecLink, how is your experience with installation and performance of the unit?

    Henry,

The installation went very well, I run a 4 conductor #12 SOOW cord from the Jackolopee to the Direclink and it has performed perfect since installation a little over 2 years ago.
