  1. as a commercial truck driver my life is on the line every time i get on the road. ANY person who uses any drug, legal or not.

should go to jail if they are behind the wheel of any motor vehicle.

you do not need to be on a cell phone to kill another person in there car. remember you are driving at 65 mph (more?) in a 2000+ pound kinetic missile.

if i said a couple beers would make me a better driver would that make it ok for me to drink and drive? heck even a number of over the counter  pills/etc do impair one ability to drive safety. so a class one controlled substance will do far worse. and they say the pot these days is far stronger than 20-40 years back.

and yes there is a real medical reason for using this drug. but no real Dr will proscribe it for you.

i do know a lady who ripped up her leg and is fully disabled. she smokes to control the pain. sad she was only about 30 and was a registered nurse at the time. kinda hard to do that job when you need a cane just to walk around your home.

  2. now we are going to have kids growing up that can not tie a shoe lace. gone are the lp's, singles. 8 tracks tapes, cassettes tapes, beta tapes, vcr's, heck even cd's/dvd's are going the wayside.

carbs, working on your own car. and how much more is gone?

but then i use slip on cheep shoes from wally wourld. but work boots are proper lace up's. as it is getting a bit hard to bend over to tie them.

I'm not sure what you mean by "real care."  Can you explain?

pay for what you need and want. not restriced care. given out by a bureaucrat. (or lesser person),  as i have read obama restricts your care based on what some office worker in some dark lonely building reading a flow chart says you can/cannot have. and you still must pay for full boat coverage.

a DR who makes money off caring for you has a very good reason to make sure you are treated right. (you live he gets paid).

more and more Dr's are no longer seeing patients that are under a gov health deal. including medicare. a couple of my moms Dr's have dropped medicare, as they were losing money.

    does this answer your question?

There is one that you may want to take a look at to see what is there than may help you, but since it is also a budget issue, the subject fits here as well. If you wish Health Issues and Medical Insurance may have some information that you would be interested in. Mean time, there is no reason not to continue here. I think that a good place to start looking would be on HealthCare.gov as there is no fee and it should be helpfull. If you plan to stay domiciled in California, you will need to use the Covered California site as they seem to have prempted the federal site. If your health problems will qualify you for disability then you may qualify for Medicare now so you should probably look into that.

We would not have been able to afford to take my employer's early retirement plan had it not also included heathcare insurance. And even today, they pay for our Medicare supplemental coverage. We are very fortunate.

my Dr (works for kaiser) will not do a disability. company policy. you know of a Dr in northern ca that will do a disability for me?  i only got my class A drivers med card re-uped this year cause the DR faked the bp numbers.

and i am required to stay in ca for some years from now (family, sick mom). and you want to buy some of my stuff. i got's lots of stuff i can sell you.

but the ca take over of health care (all privet health company's must do as ca say's. not what is needed for there customers). is a dismal failure. less coverage more cash out. and it has a tax penalty if you do not want it. why should i have to pay more taxes if i do not want something? (personal),  not quite like paying a tax for the roads. (public).

  5. look into a iceco  unit.

    icecofreezer.com

wont really solve the problem. but these unit do work 120V ac or 12V dc. will also do "other" voltages.

can be used as a extra. to store food stuffs. or as a usable unit that way you keep the in-house closed.

but as to the built in unit. do you have a aux fan on the outside coils blowing hot air out and away? is this area clean? no bugs, dust, trash? and after X number of years they do fail, just due to the loss of coolant. motors wearing out, etc.

but if parked for a couple weeks, months. shade that part of your rv. but never block free air movement.

  6. ok good points to think about. ( i just skipped down) but what about medical? medicare does not kick in till 65.

if i retire next year (age 63) how do i pay for medical? sure obama program has no tax penalty (if i read it correctly) if you would rather have real care. but in ca they have there own (kicked out the obama program) and ca has a tax penalty.  if you do not want cacare service.

sad my employer does not want to even do a 5 year gap coverage, even for those who have put in 15 + years, afraid all the good drivers will leave. instead we have been working far longer than even some want to, and die on the job (varied reasons). yes two have died "behind the wheel" in the past three years. luckily not while moving. and one in the warehouse just last month. hart attack.

my DR says i am pushing for a stoke.

how does one cover themselves for a couple years? the watered down "retirement" plan i can buy. still cost's $1600.USD a month. that's more than my house payment, taxes, and all my insurance combined.

this is the second big question for my retirement age.

first is taxes. but we will not go there.

if there is a medical thread i have not found it.

  7. heck even here in cal i have lived out of a po box for decades. not a "fancy" domicile box. just a regular post office number.

but then i am a truck driver. mail theft is a big thing these days.

but yes everything legal has a po box number including my dl. been that way. for how long.......mid to late 1980's

only trouble i have encountered is the county dump. free if you live in the county. great way to stop ditch dumpers.

    no charge bring it all.

  8. viair is a very good brand, but think about not just the top psi, but the volume you get out of the unit and the "run" time.

do you just want to "top off" or fill a flat? change tires? get a good 5 gallon min sized tank. yes a full sized tire can be changed with a couple hand tools and compressed air supply. no fancy powered lug nut tool needed. just a socket, a bar and a six foot pipe, couple tire spoons. (pre mounted on a rim). heck even on the rigs at work, the tire guys change out a tire without even taking the rim off the truck. sure they do it all the time but a fast 5 min job.

  9. all i know is the rv prices are a bit high for my wallet. (montana high country), sure had most everything i wanted, 400 w solar, gen ready, etc. but dealer not wanting to drop the price. i said not in the cards today. called me a month latter had dropped the price. wants to move the unit. but told him, not a good time for me to buy. plus it is listed for sale in a couple other states for 10's of thousands less. yes a new 2022, not sure if i want to mess with cross state tax problems. (i live in cal).

and now i have read that hud is sticking there fingers in this. changing the rules. and some city's/states are changing the laws and wording on what "camping" is. i need to find out more on this.

  10. is this the same stuff, that has been bouncing around the web every so often? never making much a go of anything. but if this was something that is to be better than sliced bread... why do they need our tax dollars? as they would be making billions on there own backs.

if any tax moneys are involved in making anything. there should be no patents allowed. and the tax payers must be reimbursed for there investment. simple money in... money out.

I think i like the plastic more. i am in the desert, if it gets too windy, i would rather the plastic break than the ladder be forcefully removed from the RV.

could be true..... But. if a ladder can handle a 250 pound man it would take a very strong wind to break off the ladder.

and plastic tends to just fail a lot more than alu does.

No question that sometimes they try to trap people. I haven't carried a balance on one for a long time, but I still get frequent notices that encourage me to carry a balance. Trusting one of the credit card marketers is a lot like trusting a used car salesperson. We got sucked in by them a long time ago but were fortunate to have been young enough to recover well before retirement time.

sad for me i got hooked hard in the trap. this specific card is the oldest one i have, got it long back when a bought a (cow) computer. i forget the name but the box was printed up line a white/black cow. it has been owned by a number of banks. but the owners now, just want to hurt people. kinda like "that" bank that kept the moneys that was to help mortgage holders. and just foreclosed on them anyhow.

  13. yes i bought the stuff. but sometimes income levels get hurt bad.

used to be every time a bill came in. it was paid in full. no problem.

i have been struggling for years now, even trying to work with the predatory cc holders. but the down turned economy, rising gas, food, everything, heck even my po box fee has gone up every year now for the past three years. and raising taxes, has now hurt me even more.

mail theft requires me to have a po box, but even they get broken into these days.

want to buy some of my stuff?  heck i will even sell my fifth wheel.

The law treats pension income substantially the same as Social Security checks. Child support and government debts, like taxes and student loans, can garnish your pension check, but most other creditors cannot. In regard to 401(k)s and IRAs, the former are generally safe from garnishment by commercial creditors as long as the money stays in the account, thanks to the Employment Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). A creditor might not be able to garnish your pension or Social Security check, but the creditor can take the money after you deposit it into the bank, up to the legal limits. The best way to avoid credit problems is to live within your income.

How to Respond to Debt Collectors if You Are Retired

yea... sure. predatory credit company's. price gouging at the pumps and the high cost of everything cause of that.

balances are increasing as not possible to pay them off any longer. but yes i did buy stuff on the cards. including weekly food.

one card went to 39,99 % interest on me. two others closed the accounts in fear. while i had a debt with them. two others keep lowering my limit as i was paying them off, so reported as a high risk, having such a 'high" balance to limit deal. so my credit score got tanked. higher costs have forced me to stop buying all the drugs (and "other things") my Dr says i must take. the stress of all this plus taking care of my mom keeps my bp at what the DR's say is way too high. as in stoke numbers. heck the DR who did my dot this year faked the numbers to just keeping me working. in may next year? will he fake them again?

as to the bank limits. -i can keep one USD less than two months payments in there and it would be untouchable. these days who can do that with there income? government is another thing. but most do have limits. except for the irs they can take it all.

loosing 1/2 of my income a couple years back did not help. and as a class A truck driver a second job is not possible. on duty hrs thing.

so for me at this point. is a chapter 13. retire early. (medical thing?). sell off all of my "stuff".

but at 63 i am just tired. been working hard since i was a brat at the age of 9. but did have a couple three years off for a crushed leg, cancer, and a broken neck. (different times of life here).

  15. yes oem is costly. you are paying for the brand name. and far better quality control as it will fit correctly and work correctly.  as the (i do not want to accused as going political here) knockoffs can be more of a problem than one can believe. and not just for a carb.

so i say buy oem and relax.

And neither do humans of course... Then again, computers can have multiple redundancies built in for safety, while humans are stuck with "run what you brung".

very true, i believe some out there should not be allowed to feed themselves, even with a safety spoon.

Probably the biggest safety advantages full level 5 self-driving vehicles would have is that the specialized AI's don't get distracted and can make decisions many times faster than humans. Ideally, in a fully self-driving world, the AI's will be able to communicate their intentions to each other. At least when not distracted by planning to take over the world... ;)

and we all know computers never fail, or glitch.

Sorry paknrat I disagree. I believe reading your tiny print phone while driving is too distracting even for me and I can multitask, and have had no accidents while I was driving in the last 54 years since age 16. I believe using the phone for voice or texting without hands free is or should be illegal and prosecuted. So we will have to vote differently for those laws.

We enforce seat belt laws and they only protect the offender if in a crash. Why? Because they generally cost us money when they do get in a crash. In Germany when I was stationed for seven of my 27 years in the AF they have to take a year of driving school before they can get a license. They were some of the safest drivers in town and on the Autobahn at 120mph plus! Returning to San Antonio from there for my one year retirement tour, in 1996, I almost got hit several times by folks doing illegal turns lane changes etc. and that was before smart cell phones with screens! I re-acclimated but boy was that an eye opener. I miss being able to go 140 mph if needed when in a hurry legally. They also were not prudes and if you had to go you just pulled off the highway safely and peed with your back to traffic on your side of the road. Poop you just waited for some bushes. If we could wait for the next rest area or gas station we would, of course. No one was getting busted for indecency or what ever the prudes here call it. And no litter showing as they kept their private and public areas clean.

    please you misunderstood me.

i was not saying it should be ok to do such things while driving. just i was saying the root problem is not the "item" but the actions, or lack there of the driver.

and yes i owe my life to the forced safety items (helmet, seat/shoulder belts, air bags, crumple zones). even as a little brat back in the 1960's i was belted in. (my moms first car the seat belts were a option) in the late 1970's i wore a helmet, and just ten years back a fool plowed into me, he was doing 100 mph.

so in no way was i saying the safety items should be tossed. but more that we as a nation need to put a heaver burden on those who do wrong. and all drivers need better education and training. and then some kind of reviews after the fact say every 10 years. even here in cal driving is a privilege.

i know where i can safety stop to do texting. and even even some phone calls (yes it goes through the trucks sound system). and we both have the same reading problem.

as to your last 4 lines here. it should be a low level infraction. not a felony as here in ca. just way too many people in this state. and way too many places to stop. i see it as a sanitary issue noting more.

but yes in other states it can be a long ways between places.

as to litter that is something the irks the () out of me. i have even seen a chp officer in a marked chp cruiser toss out a burning  butt, while driving down the freeway.
