Apparently one major liquor company (Constellation Brands) purchased Canopy Growth and other big alcohol companies are looking into buying the other weed growers.

From what I understand they bought a percentage of it, not all of it.  I think this happened months ago.  As they wanted to hedge on infusing TMC oils in the future.  Plus I think liquor sales drop when pot is leagal.

  2. I received an email from the Lake County Treasures office.  This is what it said,

    SUBJECT: My Dakota Address Closure

You are receiving this message because our motor vehicle records indicate that you have been using a mail forwarding service based out of Madison, SD called My Dakota Address. As of July 31, 2018 this mail forwarding service has closed.

Our office wanted to reach out to you and provide a couple options with this situation.

If you have a social security number, a valid state or government issued photo id and a physical address within the United States, our office will still be able to assist you in the future with motor vehicle title and registration. Please contact our office to update your physical address so that you continue to receive your mail in the future. The 110 E Center St address is no longer valid. NOTE: You are not required to have a SD address or a SD driver license in order to title/register motor vehicles in South Dakota.

If you truly travel and do not have a physical address, then you will need to utilize a new mail forwarding service. After you have set up an address at a new mail forwarding service, then you will need to use the county where that mail service is located for motor vehicle titles/registrations.

Also, please note that if you choose to utilize a mail forwarding service outside of Lake County, you hold a South Dakota driver license and were registered to vote in Lake County, please contact our Auditor’s office at 605-256-7600 to update you voter registry to the correct county.

Contact our office if you have additional questions.

    Thank you

    Betty Wise

    Deputy Treasurer

    Office of Lake County Treasurer

Lately, I'm starting to see more cashless credit/debit card only stores and restaurants. Not a lot yet to be sure, but it does seem to be a growing trend in some areas.

They pay a percentage on each transaction, but they do not have to pay for armored truck service and most importantly will not get robbed.  As there is no cash on premise.

    Yep,

Once the US legalizes it federally, US marijuana stocks both medical and recreational will skyrocket IMHO. I opened my Tesla position with $25k in 2010 when it was bouncing between $17 and $22.50. In the intervening 8 year took my principal back when it went over $100 and retained 4/5ths of my shares. We then inherited some and sold out a few weeks ago at the high of $352. I may regret exiting very soon if Musk indeed does take it private. I did well.

I see the weed stocks as a major explosive charge whose fuse has been lit in the US. Timing my entry into that arena is easier than timing the market. I just need to see who has done well despite banking restrictions in the past year and leading up to full legalization US wide.

Marijuana is a fantastic opportunity that will explode here soon for those who are ready for it.

The time to do our research is now. Just like I researched Musk and Tesla from 2003 until they finally IPO'd in 2010.

I am not ready yet to commit to one company over another.

I agree and understand.  Drop me a PM on who you like or decide to go with.

I will. There are some penny stocks in it too that can be lucrative if they go up a penny. I am new to investing other than Tesla, and I already regret selling it almost at the high point for the quarter. But being greedy can cause a loss.

I can tell you that back in the 60s, when we were smoking dope and hanging out on weekends in the Village, I never thought I'd ever see it legal here, let alone be researching investments in weed. I stopped using anything but alcohol when I joined the USAF to date, and don't think I'll be a smoker since I also quit smoking tobacco eight years ago! I was smoking three packs a day!

I like the Canadian companies because they don't have contradictory federal and state laws nor banking restrictions like here because of that. But I will be in Colorado soon. Maybe I'll grow it too:

That is the HUGE piece of Canada leagalizing it, is that there Federal government legalized it.

I, like everyone else, was shocked to get my email today.  I've read quite a few postings from fellow RVers who will be inconvenienced by this.  Many folks are angry as they list the steps involved to get their mail and personal business back in order.  Even a cry for someone to be jailed.

We may all lose some funds in our postage accounts and account fees.

But you know what, my inconvenience is a pittance of what Terri and her crew must be facing right now.  Imagine suddenlyl loosing  your job in a little town like Madison...

I am going to use my energy to pray and hope for their recovery from this.  My inconvenience pales in comparison.

    Just saying...

I would agree.  I told Teri that she was very respected and was so helpful when I went fulltime.  It even took her by surprise.  I also wish her the best of luck.

Well I think it was poor management at least with my account. I never received a bill  from them for postage or anything for at least 5 years. Then I got an invoice 2 months ago for over $600. Never a yearly renewal fee or anything. Just kept sending me my mail.

I paid them every year.  So they managed my account correctly.  Did you pay your bill?

Interesting that different people have received different emails (at different times) and some have not received anything.

Hadn't even thought about the new Medicare cards - another thing to add insult to injury.  Most of what I do is on-line any more and it seems there is a path for the rest...just a pita to have to deal with it.  My new address is created with Americas Mailbox.  They now have a notice on the front page of their website but they were getting refugees as of last Thursday (?) when I started filling out the forms.  Hope things work out for everyone.

I agree as I just received my first email from them.

I posted re My Dakota on Fulltiming forum before finding the closing being discussed here.  We got the email late 7.28.  SKP friends who use them were not notified at all until we texted them.  Very upsetting since we have used My Dakota for 10+ years and have taken Terri to lunch a few times along with sending gift cards to her because the very good service.  Betrayed is putting it lightly.

I emailed the Escapees that their mail service should waive their start up fees like the other SD mail services are to help out those of us left to swing in the wind.  Haven't heard anything regarding my suggestion.  I worry about the decreased residency connection to SD with most of the mail sent directly to Livingston and the additional per item fee charged for any letter sent to their SD address.

I also asked Escapees if they were doing any specials as thousands are looking for a new domicile address.  They just said no.

  10. I just got off the phone with Teri.  They are closing!!  As stated they will not be excepting mail and it will be returned to sender.  Make other arrangements.  This seemed to be a shocker to Teri as well.  And for the ones that used there service for years know that Teri was the heart of that business.  WOW is all I have to say.  Now the search begins for my mailing service.

  11. 8 minutes ago, Lou Schneider said:

Moving to another mail forwarding service isn't automatic, the Post Office won't let you submit a Change of Address away from a forwarding service.  The Post Office wont pick out your mail from the high volume of mail going to the forwarding business, in effect they'd be doing the forwarder's job.

If you're lucky, MyDakotaAddress will arrange for another forwarding service to take over their entire business so they can have ALL their incoming mail forwarded to the new company.

If they don't, when they close their doors all of their incoming mail will be marked as undeliverable and returned to sender.  It will be up to you to contact all of your correspondents, update your address with them and request re-issuance of any returned mail.

Then rinse and repeat if the new Mom and Pop forwarding company has a similar situation arise in the future.

It's much less likely that a major mail forwarder like Escapees or FMCA will have these issues.

I would agree.  That is why I am looking at different angles with mailing services.  I did it 4-5 years ago.

It would probably be helpful if one of you would share what you learn with the forums. I would also suggest you consider the Escapee's SD mail service.

    Kirk,

    some questions  about the differences.

    Escapees

Are the tax, registration and insurance prices different from Madison county (Teri Lunds) to Escapees Pennington county?

When calling Escapees, they said that I will be using there Livingston, TX address for evrerything else. Like retirement accounts, banking, credit cards as it is not known as a “mailing service” for the Patriot Act, is this true?

Interesting how it sounds like they use a mailing forwarding service in SD for vehicle, voting and licience but the Livingston, TX address is the true mailing address for everything else.

I am sure I will come up with more questions and understandings, angles on this.

From everything I'm reading here, it appears they have NOT given notice...too many customers who are just finding out about their closing from discussion forums like this one.

That was my feeling after reading all of these responses.

Interesting as I had mail forwarded less then a month ago and she said nothing to me about this..

I was looking at them also.  I have a message out to Teri, I’m sure that she is SWAMPED in calls.  I really just wanted to make sure that they were in fact closing.  Based on all of the fake news these days.  As I did not get an email from them stating that they were closing.  I would even think that Teri would take over/buy the business as she is very well known in what she does.  I will update any information I find out.

We've also stayed there several times with no electric problems.  Were you in the north or the south section?  We've always stayed in the north section.

I was in site 11 in the first section at first, not the two river sections.  Then was moved to there reserve lot, I think there are three sites there.  It is across from the first section toward the office.
