Yes I kept the receipt but I probably won’t be returning to AZ next season. It was very cold here, below freezing. I know it was an unusual winter, especially for TX,  it it’s the wind in the AZ desert that is killing my sinuses. I may go to FL again next winter. 

RVs are in high demand and low supply so dealers have no incentive to negotiate much but still will a little to make a sale. My daughter went out this week looking for a used TT private party and could not believe the high prices and unwillingness to accept less. She is also looking at a used car and experiencing the same. I just bought a new HD motorcycle and the dealer would not budge at all on the price but did come up a little on my trade. So I guess it is happening every market not just RVs.

Not sure about TX but I have the So Dakota Escapees address. When I went in to get my drivers license the DMV had a form Affidavit of Domicile for me to sign. It was their form, no lawyer needed.  I just signed it and they gave me my license. 

Using voter registration is not a poll tax it is just a way to obtain names of local residents who may be available to serve on a jury. 

if you have a financial hardship such loss of wages you will most likely be excused for jury duty. 

As stated above Polk County is very familiar with the Escapees and will excuse you from jury duty if you are not available. 
 

My Mom and Dad were tent camping in the eastern Sierras in CA once and during the night a bear came into their camp ground. My Mon had left an empty ice chest on the picnic table. She got scared and ran to the car locking herself inside. My Dad got a good laugh. 

I volunteerd one summer at Sawtooth NRA in Idaho. People who rented cabins were always putting up bird feeders that attracted bears. At least one a week we would get a call to report a bear nearby. 
 

Kirk, when I volunteerd at Custer State Park, I think you were at Angastora at the time, I awoke to the rocking of my fifth wheel toy hauler. I grabbed a flashlight and went outside. Shining the flashlight under the rig I saw a big Bison underneath rubbing his back on the underside of the rig. I just left him alone and went back inside. I don’t know which is worse a bear under the motorhome or a Bison. 

Thanks Chad. I’ve never seen a double pull in CA. I lived in the south where there was a lot of traffic so maybe it was a local rule, no doubles. Not sure. Always thought it was State law. That’s what I get for assuming. 

Chad, max length in Calif (truck and trailer) is 65 feet. Some roads are even less but that is not state wide. I also believe double towing is not allowed in CA but that is another subject. 

Polk City, East of Bradenton off I-4 has many lots available from the high 50,000s  to around 100,000 with most around 80 or 90 thousand. I expanded my search to include Titusville and Port St Lucie. A little more expensive, averaging $150,000 to $250,000 for a driveway! Wow

Your welcome. I had Nationwide thru Miller before I went to Geico. Nationwide doubled my premium and customer service at Miller went down so I switched. The only problem with Geico is they do not have agents and I had to be transfered from the RV department to the Auto department to the Motorcycle department to the umbrella department so a 15 minute call turned into an hour. But I just renewed for the second time, my third year now, with no increase in premium and I did it all on line in, you got, 15 minutes. 

What if you are just passing thru and won’t be there for 72 hours? Do you have to get an inspection or do you get a pass (no pun intended) and just pass thru. 

I am domicled in So Dakota and have a full timers policy with Geico. It is bundled with my Jeep toad. I have a separate Geico 1 million umbrella policy as well as a Geico motorcycle policy. All have a $1,000 deductible. Usually if you have an umbrella policy you must have maximum limits on you underlying vehicle policy. I carry 250/500 liability (for when you are moving down the road) and 300,000 full timer liability (like a homeowners policy) plus 40,000 personal contents coverage. I have 250/500 on the motorcycle too. My Class A and Jeep are $1,200 every 6 months. My umbrella is $260 a year and the motorcycle policy for 2 Harley’s is $280 a year. This includes roadside assistance for all vehicles, but I do have the Escapees RA plan as a backup for $99 a year just in case the DP needs a tow.  
 

Make sure anything you look at is really a full timers policy. Many insurance companies say it is because it covers you 365 days a year but they do not have the extra liability coverage (when you are parked and someone slips and falls) or personal contents coverage. All policies cover you for 365 days a year. 

I have a 2015 Itasca Ellipse 42 QD (same as a Winnabego Tour 42 QD). My rear bath floor has a door to access the motor underneath. 

I agree with Zulu, contact an authorized Dish reseller who should be able to install your system for all your tv needs. Maybe even do a free installation. Some will tell you that you can’t have a Hopper. This is due to the DVR and the bumps in the road. My son is an installer and says they sometimes get bad hopping (no pun intended) around in the back of his van. Just make sure you secure it good with some padding underneath. 

I bought a set of Cusinart at Bed Bath and Beyond. Can’t remember what I paid, about $100. It said right on the box induction compatible. Have used them 4 years now. Except for the frying pan they are all still in good condition. The frying pan needs to be replaced but that’s my fault for overcooking bacon several times. 

I had a 43 foot toy hauler for 5 years. No problem traveling cross country. I lived in Calif at the time and the max total length for truck and trailer was 65 ft. Never was even stopped and questioned in all 48 states. 

I am a fulltimer. A lot depends on location, time of year, and length of your RV. As stated above State Parks and National Parks are getting booked in 6 months to a year in advance. Many local County and City Parks can also be a challenge. If you have a Big Rig there are even fewer sites available. Private Parks will be a little easier but if in a big tourist area they book up in advance as well.  Weekends and holidays will be difficult everywhere in you don’t reserve in advance. I just called this morning to get info for a park in Sarasota FL for Jan-March 2022 and they are already all booked. They put me on the waiting list. It is easier to find a spot for one or a couple of nights but when you want a week or month it is harder. With weekends booked it difficult getting a monthly reservation. A park I usually stay at in Idaho in the summer won’t even take a monthly rental now because of the weekend reservations. Don’t be discouraged. You will find a site. You just may have to look harder and get a little off your planned route occasionally.

I agree. I have taken this route many times. I lived in San Diego for 35 years and to avoid Los Angeles I would take I-15 up to Victorville, over Hwy 58 thru Tehachapi, to Hwy 99 and cut over Hwy 46 to I-5. There are a few good camp grounds in both Tehachapi and Bakersfield. 

I looking into buying a deeded RV lot somewhere in FL and looking for information from others who have done so. Interested in the Sarasota or Ft Myers areas but open to all of FL. I am a full timer and have been traveling continuously for 9 years now and looking for a winter home base. 

Not sure of any storage facilities around Oakland. You may check south or north of the Oakland or even Sacramento. You could continue your dive to Oakland in your toad, if you have one, or have family pick you up. 

If you have time go check out the Escapees Co-Op Park in Wachula. It’s not too far from where you are now. 

I would be Leary of parking my RV somewhere for free and leaving for several days in my toad. It would not be very secure. RVs are very easy to break into. If I were you I would put my rig in storage or find a camp ground that has a storage area for a modest price. 

I may be wrong, and this would not be the first time, but I have been told that you can not buy property in an Escapees Park. Rainbow Parks are owned by the Escapees Club and spaces are available to rent by the day, week, month or longer. Escapees Co-Op parks are owned by the Co-Op and you can buy a lifetime lease to stay in the park but there is no ownership, just a lease. And I believe, in either case, you must be a member of the Escapees Club to rent or lease a lot. It’s in the lease agreement.
