How many particles does someone who is asymptomatic  release when they are talking?  How many will it take to infect you if neither of you are wearing a mask?

Not living my life like a paranoid person, life is to short anyway, I'm going to have fun.

This forum has to be one of the most depressing forums to read, everything is about covid or when someone gets there shots, I must be the young one here at 60 years old.

It is no wonder not many new members stay here after they post a few times.

The covid slowed us down a little at first but after sorting out the news and the numbers that our state was giving out that didn’t add up

We don't watch the news so we were never brain washed.

I see people alone in a car with a mask on.

I see people riding bike alone with a mask on.

I see husbands and wives together with masks on, nobody else with them.

I see people jogging alone with a mask on.

Minnesota has only reduced some restrictions. We are still required to wear masks and do social distancing but some places have been allowed to reopen with decreased capacity. We could actually go out to eat if we wore our masks to and from a restaurant and inside until the food comes. That is what they are doing in our in-house restaurant but I did not know other places were allowed to do so also. I probably should have realized that the facilities reopening here would mean that statewide mandates had changed.

Dave is watching infection trends here to help him decide whether to resume social activities in March. It's been a whole year now and he has really missed his group of friends. I hope he gets to go even though that means me figuring out what to do all evening without him; I can't remember what that was like a year ago. :)

We don't have to wear a mask to and from a restaurant, only walking through there door to your table, you can take it off and keep it off at the table, you don't have to put it on until your food comes.

I am protecting others and they are protecting me.   Don't tell us after a year that simple fact hasn't been realized yet?    Rather, you are being disengenous and everyone can see that.

I think masks are doing nothing also, I wear one in a business that requires one but don't want to. Three of our neighbors have had covid and we hang around the firepit all the time with them and the other neighbors and only those three have had covid, and they had it four months ago.

i have never understood driving out onto ice, drilling a hole just to fish.  but then i never have been much of a fisherman.

How else would you catch fish in the winter?

I don't understand going south for the winter, I like snow, just finished plowing and hope I have to plow again tomorrow.

We had a king size in our house and bought a Fifth Wheel with a queen bed not giving it much thought. It was hard getting used to a smaller bed, it is like trading in a loaded Cadillac for a base level Chevy with manual windows.

    Not giving it much thought?

When we are looking for a RV, we don't even look at one if there is no King bed or King bed option if new

Do you understand about RV holding tanks? Your toilet flushes into a tank. You have to wait until that tank is at least half full but not wait until it is completely full then hook up a hose to that tank and open a valve to transfer the effluent into an RV dump. Then you have to rinse the hose and put it away again until the next time you need to dump. You cannot leave the hose connected and the valve open because you need the solids to become liquid before dumping. Otherwise the solids stay in the tank and fill it up on their own and then you have a real problem.

I highly recommend you stop looking at RVs and start looking a park models because park models flush just like toilets in apartments do. There is no reason to have to do all that an RV requires if you don't plan to move it.

Why can't they leave the hose connected?

We do at our seasonal site.

OP here, surprised to see the continued discussions regarding FB, Social Media and all, but I am enjoying the read.

I am leaving another travel position and will miss many of the friends I made during my stay. It's the first time leaving since closing my FB account and I did mention to some that I used to keep in touch through that method, but no longer do. Did offer them the option to call at any time, but told them if they texted me I would have to block them. I only have 250 text messages a month on my plan and while I have been warned  a couple of times that I was reaching my max, I have yet to exceed.

Decided while writing this post to send an email to a few on the "Work Email" before it was disabled. I shared my personal email address and gave permission to post it to the remainder of the staff. I wonder how many will send me an email sharing their address..

Kirk, according to my youngest daughter (early 20's) FB is for the "Older Generation." My son (in his 40's) tried FB for a while, but wasn't happy with the number of "Updates" he would receive on a daily basis so he didn't stay long. My Oldest still has an account for multiple reasons.

I would like to have a social media platform that could be tailored to the type of use I want, but to pay for it there has to  be some method. Despite advertising saying "Free, Free, Free", nothing is actually Free. There is a cost and it must be paid who pays is the question. It used to be the customer paid an appropriate fee for services rendered, then there came taxes that needed to be paid so there could be regulations regarding said services.  Then there came consultants (or managers) to tell you about how to do the service better and make more money doing it. They neglected to show their costs pretty much eliminated the fact that any of the money would remain in the providers pocket. History shows us all of this yet we still think we can find something for free. If you are still reading you have got this for free, but you only reap what you paid for it.

    “Updates”

    Adjust the settings

I asked my wife who has had Facebook since 2008, she gets no emails or updates of any kind, agree might not even look at it for a week or two and never gets anything telling her to look.

I was on facebook for a couple of years around 2010.  It was nice to catch up with some people whom I hadn’t had contact with for a few decades.  Then I became uncomfortable with the amount of personal information that was asked of me.  I left and haven’t been back.  I don’t miss it, and I don’t think I’m missing anything by not being on it.  The people who are important to me have my email address.

It is my personal belief that those who participate on FB, Twitter, et al., will live to regret it someday.

My wife uses it, she has only given her name, no other personal info.

As a nation we tend to be fat and lazy.  That is no exaggeration as obesity is extremely common and overweight to the level of nearly obese is almost the norm.

Lots of us more active Americans do visit National Parks and other scenic and more remote areas.  Even then the statistics are well known.  The NPS studies show that 97% of visitors to the National Parks never leave a paved area.  As a frequent visitor to the National Parks I have see this frequently.  I even did a study of my own at Artist's Drive in Death Valley.  The drive to and from the main viewpoint takes a good 20 minutes.  At the viewpoint the colors are awesome with soil and rocks of intense shades of greens, purples, and reds.  You can actually walk through this wonderland by going down the equivalent of a flight of stairs and walking another 50 yards or so.  I timed visitors on a sunny, 75 degree afternoon.  The average visitor stopped at the overlook, got out of the car, snapped a couple of pictures and was gone within 2 minutes.  Virtually everyone who stayed 5 minutes or so took the extra time because one or more members of the group stopped at the outhouse.  Maybe 1 in 50 visitors actually walked down the steps and the 50 yards to at least the start of the area.

Since we are fat and lazy, it should not be any surprise that the typical RV needs to have recliners, a large refrigerator, and a TV and weighs several tons.

We have had our latest travel trailer for a little over a year now and have never tried the tv.

  10. I don’t know anyone of my buddies or even my wife or adult kids that use forums.

We rode goldwing for 20 years with 11 other couples, none of them had ever heard of a goldwing forum.

some might not feel welcome when the regulars are always right and nobody else is.

like the thread about US Postal Service is reliable and fast, I keep getting told I’m wrong about a coin shortage yet I’ve never seen it, spent today and Monday in the twin cities eating and shopping and paying cash and not once was I told they wanted exact change or use a card yet that thread I basically keep getting told I’m wrong, makes s person not feel welcome.

Thanks for the info on park models

I went to Holiday World in Katy Texas last weekend and they had a 2009 Carriage Cameo 35SB3 5th wheel on the lot. The salesman told me that this brand, pre 2015 or so, was among the best built if not THE best built RV out there. He said it is a "tank", solid as a rock. Couldn't find a lot of reviews about the brand but, all I did find were very good reviews (4 & 5 star). While I was there I didn't look at it too closely because I wasn't really considering a 5th wheel. It was very nice for a 11-12 tear old RV. I certainly don't want to buy the truck needed to pull it but since my immediate intent is not to travel with it, that may not matter. They are asking $24+K for it. Outside decals were not in great shape. carpet on the inside a little worn but not too bad. Any thoughts or comments?

    https://www.hwhrv.com/inventory/?search_condition=Used&search_make=Carriage&search_dropdown_Min_years=1998&search_dropdown_Max_years=2022

They may have photo shopped the pictures of the outside a bit. I don't remember the decals looking that good

    Thanks, Dennis K

I would steer clear of them if they photoshop any pictures

It isn't quite that simple for those who are far from the place where they bank. In addition, if you use a card there is no need to visit the bank.

The only reason I use the bank is because we own a food truck so I said I have to get change to give to the customers.

Can’t you get extra cash when you pay with a credit card?

I guess I assume you can but I always pay cash so I’m not sure.
