  1. Never thought it would happen as I always check to see that the hitch is locked, This time I didn't and guess what, I dropped the 5th wheel on the bed of the truck. Pretty good bend in the top of the bed, will tlry to bend it back with 2x4 and jack, it will still look bad but we will live with it. [Jeri, the cart scrach from Walmart dosen't worry me now.]

    LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

    Freddy and Delcie

Sorry to hear this Freddy. Not that it will make you feel any better but you're not the first and won't be the last to have that happen. A real bummer though.

  2. Had a great potluck dinner last night with Mike & Deb, Tom & Dianne, Glyn & Diane. Tom & Dianne let us eat inside their new rig and we had a great visit. ( Glyn only dropped one spoon and only spilled on his own shirt) Just can't take him anywhere indoors.LOL But on Wed. we will be heading to Yuma and across the border to visit that dentist to have our teeth cleaned and visit the prison. Which Casino do you all recommend we spend the night at....best parking or best food doesn't matter to us. Hope to see you all again soon. D & Pa

Not a casino expert by any stretch the Quechan casino is at the exit to go to Mexico (166) and they have a big lot for rv parking. They were parked close together and the border is just down the road. Between exits 166 and 164 (Sidewinder Rd.) is a California inspection station check for plants and produce. We are leaving Sidewinder BLM this morning going to Maricopa. The frontage road is a bit rough and there is highway noise all the time. Have fun in Algodones. Be safe, later.

  3. Hope you don't take offense, Joe, but those look like a couple warn-out hearts....maybe from some of this Q group...LOL :D

 No offense taken, a couple of Pork Shoulders that are now a big batch of Pulled Pork.

    Joe

Joe wish I could send you some of this 75+ degree weather for some pulled pork. One of my favorites. Having cranberry juice tonight instead of whiskey. O well enjoy your pork.

  4. Tuesday night we had dinner with Mike and Deb at Famous Dave's before they left for North Ranch the next morning. Yesterday we went to Algodones. Got our teeth cleaned (Thanks Toni), had lunch at El Paraiso on the patio, and shopped the sidewalk vendors. The line to get back across the border was 30-45 minutes. we were home by 4:30.

Only 9 rigs at Sindewinder BLM when we got here now there is 17. The ground was soft when we arrived but is dried out fast. There is a bit of highway noise too. Have to see the old Yuma prison, flea markets, the dunes near Glamis.

Temps in the mid 70's for a while.

Tom and Dianne wish we had seen your "new" motorhome. Well catch up somewhere down the road.

Next week on to south Phoenix to see the kids. Be Safe. Later.

  5. Silly girl. You know we have that "grandfather clause" for a reason. Or, in your case is it the "grandmother clause"? Once a classmate, always a classmate no matter what you do. We know that the time will probably come for all of us eventually. For some it's just a little earlier than others. So, there's no way around it, Linda, you are stuck with us and us with you. :D

Roger said it's kind of like being in the mob. Once in you can't get out.

You would know Roger would reference the mob since he's from Illinois.

Looks like we'll go south on Monday and a Jeep ride this morning. We want to see everyone before we go. Not many of us left at La Posa South. Later.

  6. Haven't seen real long lines at the dump. If you head where we were last year, you'll pass us. We're spread out a little but that's a good thing. Tomorrow pizza at Silly Al's at 4:15. Can you be there?

Thanks Jeri. It's been in the teens here in Benson so things might be frozen for awhile. :) We need to get propane and gas tomorrow. I think we should be there in time for pizza.

  7. We are in Benson next door to Mike and Deb at San Pedro Resort. Two days ago while 21 miles into a 26 mile Jeep trail ride (Old Ore Road) our Jeep quit. It had taken us over 3 hrs. to get that far and had seen no one else. Luckily we could get cell phone reception standing on a near by hill. Park rangers came to tow us out the last 5 miles ( over an hour). A tow truck came from Marathon, Tx. and took the Jeep back to our rv in the Rio Grande Village campground. Someday we'll go back to finish driving the other trails. The Jeep is at a repair shop here in Benson with an electrical issue and I hope it's fixed by this weekend. Going to Tombstone with Mike and Deb tomorrow. Later. :)

  8. Would you settle for todays high of 67 and low of 50. I thought that was cold but I haven't seen any really cold stuff yet this winter. The thought of the 110 degree stuff I had when I first got here has me thinking 70 is cold.

We'll take 67 and a low of 50 Lee. Mid 40s here in Del Rio today and had a little rain/sleet last night and this morning.

We we're going to Cuidad Acuna today but have been advise by the locals not to do it. Went to Mexican restaurant that has a buffet for lunch yesterday in Del Rio and over ate. Drove out to Langtry to see Judge Roy Bean's saloon and visitor center.

Mike, may be Wednesday before we get to Benson. Later. :)

  9. we are in el paso tx..... can you believe it is SNOWING !!!!!!!! woo hoooooooooooooooooooo

    dang ya gotta love texas

    mike and deb

We are in Del Rio, Tx. until Saturday. Suppose to sleet and/or snow here tonight. Maybe an inch. It's been cloudy and 40's for days it seems. Moving to Big Bend NP next.

Mike when will you be in Benson?

Could you guys in AZ warm it up for us before we get there please? 70's would be nice but I think we'd take 60's. :D Later.

  10. So, I'm wondering who will be joining us in Yuma that won't be in "Q". It's beginning to look like everyone is showing up in "Q" but maybe not Yuma?????

We thought we'd go to Yuma after the rv show with everyone. We've never been there before also thought we might try a dentist across the border. Any referrals? Just need a cleaning for both of us. Later.

A trip to the Desert Bar sounds good too. :)

  11. I went to the Medical clinic here in Niland this morning. It was a waste of my time. The doctor said he wanted chest xrays and a TB test. Both of which I have to go to Brawley to have done. I should have just gone to Brawley in the first place. By doing it from here I'll have to wait until next week when I have another appointment to learn anything. I may be either dead or cured by that time. OH well I'm not any worse off than I was before I went to him. This limiting a doctor to a 15 minute appointment period has completely ruined US medicine. Your better off treating yourself and not taking the chance of being subjected to all the germs and viruses you have in a doctors office.

It's a bit on the chilly side here at the slabs however the day times are beautiful but nights are getting a bit nippy. The only trouble I'm sleeping all day and sitting up all night because I can't sleep. I woke up at 3 this morning and started coughing which started my nose to bleed. It was after 5 before I got the bleeding stopped. I had one of those little paper desert bowls full of blood before I finally got it under control. every time I thought I had it stopped I'd try to wipe the blood off my mouth and nose and it would start again. And I was wiping with a wet cloth and very gently. OH well, mayby I should rethink that deal about getting shot by a jealous husband when I'm 150.

Almost sounds the climate has dried you out too much Lee. Feeling listless and having nose bleeds is not a good combination. Tina found out the other day when she didn't have enough on her stomach when she donated blood and passed out. Took until the next day for her to feel better. Are you drinking alot of fluids other than cranberry juice? Go see the doctor like Toni said. See you in Q.

  12. Mike and Deb were at a gun show this weekend in San Antonio so we weent to see them and the show. There was a blood drive going on there so Tina and I decided to do it. We hadn't had lunch but went ahead anyway with the donation. Afterward went inside to see Mike and Deb. Tina sat down for a few minutes because she felt light headed. We started to walk around the show and hadn't walked 100 ft. when she said she felt weird and passed out. I caught her before she crashed and let her down to the floor. Well we spent the next couple of hours with EMTs and back on the blood bus for them to monitor her until she felt well enough to go home. She doesn't remember much. We stopped for a Whataburger on the way home and she rested the rest of the day. She's ok this morning guess we'll do the shopping today we were going to do yesterday.

We plan to leave here after Jan. 1 sometime and go to Big Bend NP on our way to Q. Will be good to see everyone again. I can't believe we've set in one place as long as we have. Safe travels.

    mike and deb and smokey

I think they have openings. Not many rigs here right now. $380 a month full hookups including electric. Kind of off the beaten path, nice and quiet. Next to the Guadalupe River. It'll be good to see you again. Travel safe. Later.

  14. Jim's surgery went well. They kept him but I get to bring him home in the morning. Hopefully this is our last surgery this year. The oncologist gave us good news and we don't have to see him for three more months. Hope everyone has a wonderful, Happy Thanksgiving.

That is great news. Still thinking of you.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, we did. Not doing any black Friday shopping though, going racing instead today and tomorrow. Travel safe. Later.

  15. Another Jim update. They decided to keep him over night cause it was so late when he finally got out of recovery. They he had to lie flat on his back for another four hours. Better that he just stayed and I'll go get him in the morning. The surgeon was able to put in one stent but there is another artery that is 100% blocked. So we get to go back and do this all over again in about two weeks. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. He's feeling great - hungry so you know he's okay. I'm exhausted and going to bed. Night all.

Thanks for the update. Such an ordeal and more fun in 2 weeks. Glad it went well. We're thinking of you. Hang in there.

  16. Anyone spent any time in and around the little town of Borrego Springs?

We drove over there from the SKP park in Aguanga (Jojoba Hills) one day its in a valley not a whole lot there. Visited the state park visitor center, had an ice cream from the grocery store and then went back to Jojoba Hills. There was state park camping and a couple of rv parks.

Our Texas weather change last Thursday night. Went from mid 80's to only 60 on Friday with a north wind. Its been warming each day since but was 40 degrees this morning.

Went drag racing this past weekend and was real chilly Friday and Saturday. I made 12 runs in the car but only one was real good. Didn't win anything but it was alot of fun getting the car out again and playing at the race track again. Be safe everyone. Later. :)

  17. Glyn - it's too early for exact dates yet for us. But I'd like to be in Q by the middle of January. I figure I'm going to have itch itch so bad by then that I'll be there is I have to pull the trailer myself. lol

Jim is going to have some more surgery. His artery in his left leg is 50% blocked (that's why he can't walk) so the surgeon is going to put in a stent or two or three depending. If that doesn't work, then they will do a leg bypass. I didn't even know they did things like that. We have the same surgeon who took out his lung cancer so we are really happy about that. He's fabulous. Waiting to hear exactly when but should be within the next two weeks. I sure hope this is the end for us. I'm getting really tired of hospitals.

He's not supposed to walk so we picked up a wheel chair for him at Goodwill.

We are thinking of you guys. Keep us informed.
