Gotta story about my mother-in-law and a battery operated pill dispenser.  Best told around the campfire, adult beverage in hand.

    Linda

Sounds like a good reason to plan a meet up

Us-50/301 takes you to Annapolis. US-301 will take you South avoiding both Baltimore and DC. I have not taken this route in years but it is my understanding that improvements have eliminated a lot of the congestion around Waldorf. I-95 in DE and MD has some of the highest tolls in the country. Not sure how the tolls of the two routes compare as the Key Bridge had a toll. I think the toll on MD I-95 is only North bound so the tolls are different depending on which direction you are travelling.

You will miss the toll on De route 1 but pay the toll on the new 301 by-pass around Middletown, the toll at the Bay bridge is northbound, if you stay on 301 until Va you pay the toll southbound at the bridge into Va.

This will create a real traffic mess.  The last I knew, RV's were prohibited from the tunnels.  695 around the west of Baltimore is quite a bit longer.  I wonder if US-1 / US-40 is a viable alternative.

    Safe Travels...

Route 40 I believe is basically the truck route thru Baltimore and not a really fun route to follow, another way around would be is traveling south in Delaware take De route 1 to 301 then 50 west from there you can jump back onto 95/495 or 301 south but there are tolls.

Yeah, until people start staying in them for days at a time.

Yes, possibly but still an option, from what I have seen they are not cheap so keep that in mind.

Remember when we bought Christmas presents that needed batteries and how disappointed the recipient was if you forgot to buy the batteries because in the UK back then, if xmas day fell on a weekend and so did Boxing Day (26th), they might have to wait up to 4 days to enjoy till the stores opened again after days in lieu!!!

We have a rule in our family that batteries HAVE to be included to insure it is a complete gift, of course Mom always seemed to have "extra" batteries on hand.... aren't Mom's GREAT!!!!!!!!!

I've been on the road for a while too, and getting a bank account can be a real headache. I've heard some folks in the RV community talking about using local credit unions in South Dakota, but it seems hit or miss. Maybe check out Black Hills Federal Credit Union or Dakotaland Federal Credit Union?

If a credit union would work, I would suggest that if they are in what's called the Shared Branch system to use that one as then you can use other credit unions in the system while traveling. We use one now that we have at home and works out well, but you do have to look ahead to see what might be available where your headed.

  7. Once during my work years, I ended up on a run that went into Queens NY 5 nights a week, on the directions from dispatch they read to ignore the sign "All Trucks 13.6" must exit" this was a section they called the shelf close to the Brooklyn Bridge and keep going, we also had trailers that were 12.6" just to get thru the tunnels in the city.

So they are saying don't bother to slow down?

I guess if the speeds are the same then yes

I've never seen anything like that!  So.... if the speed limit is 75 than you can go 75 through construction?  I doubt it!!!

I did not mention what speed, but we did see it in areas that the posted speed was 65 and so was the construction zone speed posted at 65, my wife even commented about it.

  9. Rod, thanks for all the pictures we hope one day to attend but something always seem to get in the way, this year our son got married in Texas now why didn't we think to do it at the rally!!! 😛

I am SO Lame, paint has fully cured so washed the Big Blue today, delved into cleaning well enough to coat with Silica Dioxide treatment.  Trying to get a better shine as going to Truck show 9/9 called Pride in Your Ride at Warrenton MO Fair Grounds.  Got down to working on buff compound around rivets that will not just wash off.  Have back of sleeper to finish up on, then will start on the application.

STILL looking at Toy Haulers, both TT or Fifth Wheel, NOT finding what wife can be satisfied with so far while prices are creeping DOWN.

River Stone will have a new floor plan at the Hershey show, not sure when it will be on their web site, I really liked it but do know the garage is 13' if garage size is important, the living space was the best that I have liked in a toy hauler.

  11. Thanks for all the comments and they are about what I expected (I know what this group is like) I just put Toyo on for steer tires at this shop and did ask about drives but the Lancaster brand was not offered to me, I did look them up online and basically found the same results.

  12. Question asked today from a friend, looking for drive tires for his HDT, the shop I have used recommended Lancaster brand, we have never heard of them and in research found they are a sister brand of Statewide which also have not heard of so my question to all here, have you heard or know of this brand and what quality they may be. Thank you all in advance.

  13. Henry, I always enjoy following along on your threads and build projects, sometimes I learn as I follow sometimes it goes over my head sometimes I get a good laugh, but when I get a question, I can usually look back and find the answer. Thanks to you and many other folks here we have always been pleased with our HDT decision. I knew when we bought my first upgrade was going to be our ET and knew it was a great upgrade, thanks again for all you have done to help many here!!!!

  14. Denver, right now we are planning on attending on our trip home from Florida, we will let you know what site we get when we reserve, do you know what sites you're looking at to be together? I have also let Charlie Lord know about it, it's just funny seeing them in a motorhome and not Tow Mater.   Rennie & Beth Roberts
