  1. I lost Sylvia in October too after 42 years of marriage and 17 years of RV travel camping.  The grief is unimaginable.
This: "Finding Your Way through Grief: A Guide for the First Year" available on Amazon and others is helpful.
Hang in there.  And yes, it was a good run.

  2. A fellow camper friend sent me a link to the Good Sam "Travel Assist" - they've got a Cyber Monday 1/2 off deal. Cheap.
    I purchased two years. https://travelassist.goodsam.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=[adv:+TA]+[plt:+Google]+[fun:+Performance]+[ini:+Branded]+[str:+PROSP]+[tgt:+Brand]+[bil:+Direct]&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-JacBhC0ARIsAIxybyOZ78S2IPFj_BDH2BHB9XAIGiJHMjGt1ijiFZ-GT9qFMhMZ0JJGyjcaAvsCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I didn't pay for the "family" plan which would have covered my unfortunate cat.

Yes, I have Medicare and a good supplemental.  I do enjoy boondocking - some remote places at times - and a broken leg or something could be a real problem.

I don't have any current plans for international travel but in the past have used Generali - never had a medical claim but did have a event cancellation costing $5K and they reimbursed us, no problem.

For now, thank you for the responses and consideration.

(Insurance - as they say - "if you don't need it, then you've got too much and if you need it, you can't have enough."

  3. Help.  I'm traveling solo now since the loss of my better half.  She was an excellent second seat pilot and I could always count on her.
But now I'm thinking that any emergency situation where I might be incapacitated while traveling could get very expensive, very fast.

I don't full time but I can be on the road for months at a time.
Any suggestions about what kind of appropriate travel insurance would be appreciated.

  4. "Innocent until proven guilty" should not apply to chemicals.

UPI picked up another disturbing research publication:

    Quote

Up to 80% of all women may develop a fibroid tumor during their lifetime. . .

The new study found women with a high exposure to certain phthalates such as DEHP (used as a plasticizer to increase the durability of products such as shower curtains, car upholstery, lunchboxes, shoes and more) and its metabolites have a high risk for having a symptomatic fibroid.

  5. You have to understand that a "diagnosis" is required for billing insurance.
There is no such thing as "I don't know" in the medical world.

I've been diagnosed with "vasculitis" for an allergic reaction by my primary care physician.   Another "specialist" diagnosed the same reaction as something else.

You've done well in trouble shooting your condition.  Doctors are simply humans doing a job.

There are two types of turpentine - wood and gum. The more common one, wood, is made from pine wood chips and sawdust. The other is made from pine sap. This is the type you need to try. My wife reminded me that I got gum turpentine at Hobby Lobby as its most common use is artist oil paint thinning.

I'll check the can.  Actually, I believe that the sap is from Fir trees, which are more prevalent in the PNW.

  7. Long story short:

These product failed to remove or affect the pitch:
    WD 40
    Mineral Spirit  (purchased at Walmart)
    Turpentine  (purchased at Ace Hardware)

Turpentine seemed to have some small affect on the pitch on the glass and took a lot of rubbing - too much rubbing required for me to try it on the paint.
And after sitting in the Arizona sun for a long time, the pitch is really baked on.

I will continue my efforts at pitch removal and will respond here with results.

  8. Okay, well I had problems with this thing - cause I don't know what I'm doing with it.
My problem with a "system image" is that, after complete, I could not go to the external drive and find the file I needed.
    I was stumped.
    It doesn't work that way.

But not all is lost, after I did some Google searching I found System Image vs Backup at File Level: Which is the Best and Why? - a very good, quick, easy tutorial.

Ultimately, I think that I will want both a System Image AND a File Level backup - which will probably require TWO different external backup hard drives.

Macrium looks promising.  I think a file level backup has greater importance in the event of a drive crash.  At least I could get my files as needed with a file level backup.
Thanks, and keep the tips coming.

Do you move it from one vehicle to the next?  And which one did you buy as Amazon has several models.

No, it's been in the same vehicle since I bought it on Ebay years ago.
I don't know what model it is and Ebay doesn't keep purchase history over three years.🙁
