  1. Can’t see paying $60+ for this.  Anyone know what kind of connection that push on is and where I could buy just the connection to make my own?  Don’t know if the Dixon connector below the pic is correct although it looks close.

  2. In our former trailer we ordered a Flexsteel sleeper sofa that was built so the back could be removed.  DW and I got it through the door.  My little 5’2” wife military pressed her end of that sofa to clear the island and it was heavy.  That’s why I don’t p**s her off.

  3. Darryl,

Won’t be able to attend as we’re planning New England trip after ECR but would be happy to answer or help you with any organizational questions you may have.  Not a pro but after 10 years with the ECR even a small group can require more work than you might think.  Just P.M. if you need anything and we can link up.

Any good upholstery shop can reskin them in quality material. I can recommend a good one in Central Florida if you're in the area.

    Solo,

Should have responded earlier.  This is not the only issue.  Fasteners are backing out and overall build does not justify recovering.

  5. To cap this discussion we contacted Franklin.  Their response was to distance themselves from the issue by referring us to a third party supplier who never responded to voice messages or emails.  Repeat attempts to contact Franklin via email were unanswered.  Seems to be the nature of businesses today, once they have your money, don’t want to hear from you again.  I will say our coach was used but only out three times before our purchase.  If I were to ever buy new would not come with furniture.

Carl, RVs for Less at one time was ordering all there new DRV's without any furniture and adding Lambright at their place.

Lazy Boy and Flexsteel RV are also good choices but we had ours built by Bassett to fit our trailer.

Thanks for all the input.  Lambright looks interesting.

  7. The Franklin Furniture in our new to us camper is junk.  The camper is a 2017 Mobile Suites 39 DBRS3 and had only been out three times prior to our purchase.  We noticed on our first outing flaking on the headrest of the recliners which has now proceeded to complete dissolution of the outer leatherette covering down to the underlying fabric.  Since the furniture is by age two years old, don’t expect Franklin to do anything.  We like the double wall hugger recliner with console concept so what brands would you replace with?  We are leaning towards Lazy Boy or Flexsteel.

  8. Well simple sometimes best. Turns out was loose connection on switch. Must have hit it when I was behind panel few weeks ago. All is well.  Wonder if shop would have just thrown $1k of parts at it saying it was the shutter?  Thanks for the help.

Mine works and i know if it's on. Pulls back very noticeable. Don't have to have load or on grade. Mine is 2 settings.

    Glen,

Normally on 6-7% grade mine will easily stay within 5 mph of cruise setting coming down. Noticed today coming down 7% grade in Carolinas I was getting up to 10mph over set speed and accelerating. Had to take off cruise and tap in service brakes to stay where I wanted.  Could have down shifted but wasn’t that long a grade. Can’t explain it, just felt “different “ than normal.

  10. Is there a way to check if the engine brake system is working properly on a Volvo D12 without driving a grade?  The D12 has an exhaust brake which is the first setting on the switch and the second is for compression brake. It is not a three stage “Jake” like some of you guys have.

Depending on which air system you are on, get rid of all air everywhere so the lines aren't pressurized.  Pump your brakes if need be (as Carl and I found out).

Yep, air lines will not come out easily if the line is pressurized.  Would also recommend buying a set of these.  Makes life much easier and you will use them a lot.

  12. Dennis,

Have to give credit to MrSeas for the parts numbers.  He originally posted them.  I posted the Harbor Freight picks I got.  Don’t get the heavy duty ones.  They don’t work as well as the flimsy ones.  I actually took one of them and using needle nose pliers turned a tiny hook on the tip so it would grab the ring.

  13. Take out the collet (metal piece) with your fingers or grabbing edge with needle nose pliers, use dental pics (from Harbor Freight) to “dig out” old o-ring. Sometimes they can be hard and brittle so be sure and get all the pieces.  Center of connector will have small tube that will go inside airline for rigidity (it is solid in fitting and won’t come out with dental pics) so don’t be concerned.  Clean connector with alcohol and q-tip or pipe cleaner and blow dry with air.  Insert proper new o-ring ( sometimes requires manipulation with dental pics, not sharp point).  Reinsert collet, cut off bit of airline past old indention from collet, be sure cut is square.  Securely push back in connector and pull back slightly to get collet to catch.  Not a hard job and the collets can be cleaned and re-used if not damaged.

  14. You are right about the rouge.  Bronco recommended the green bar, said it was sold at all the truck stops.  Well he ended up shipping me supplies from California because Tennessee Truck Stops quit selling it.  My luck.

See if he's available for a Rally visit!

    Rocky,

Thought we had one lined up for ECR two years ago.  Guy was all excited.  Gave him dates, he picked a day, never heard or saw him after that conversation.   Reliability is a necessity for the rallies.  Ask Steve Dixon about schedules and "no shows".
