In Minnesota registering a Sprinter van is very expensive, since it is based on the value of the vehicle, but registering an RV is a flat $25. The clerk about fell through the floor when he realized I was registering a brand new 2012 Mercedes Sprinter van for $25. You do have to have the minimum number of amenities to register as an RV, though.
