Five Wood
The S&P 500 has done remarkably well in the past 10 years and I agree with Buffett's thinking. It's also interesting to look at a chart for the S&P 500. Stretch it back further than 10 years. In March 2000 it started falling. Regained it's losses by mid 2007, only to start falling again. It wasn't until 2013 that it was comfortably above it's 2000 level. As a side note, Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway recently purchased a large stake in Pilot/Flying J. Al F
Great article. Thanks for sharing. I have been advocating in other financial topics on this forum that people should read some of the hundreds of articles by Scott Burns, now retired. Scott Burns as been advocating for over 20 years exactly what the Buffet bet proved. In many of Scott's articles he provided examples of managed funds historically under-performing inexpensive index funds from places like Vanguard, Fidelity and others. Scott also provides lots of common sense advice. He doesn't give sales hype, but good information for people to digest and implement into their life plans.
