Can you find a very interesting electrical moment in this project.

I did not pick this up until I read the post on line. And it shows a very interesting subject during diagnostics on electrical problems?

it is there, just takes some thinking?

" So the first thing I did was check the 12 vdc batteries for state of charge.12.6.     Unit is plugged in.   Or so we think it is.  So I say turn the furnace on. Furnace blower comes on the cycles off. Voltage dropped too low for furnace to operate.??? Motorhome is plugged in to shore power."

Why would the furnace draw down the batteries so much????

  2. I bought one of the Chinese knock offs on Amazon for my work shop.  Its the portable one with the built-in fuel tank.  Think I paid a $150 for it.  My small shop is 14x24 and heats it very well.  I fire it up and turn it off about 30 minutes later and the shop is nice and toasty,

Update - the other day my granddotter and I broke out the test meter. She took up station inside to operate fridge controls and I hollered instructions from outside - measured volts and watched and listened while she operated controls.

Glad to hear all is good with the fridge............I was thinking the other day, I haven't seen a post from you for awhile..

Took a weekend trip. Had to add a couple cans of freon to the AC. I will have to take it in and get that checked.

I don't like to unhook when we overnight someplace. It makes the trailer more stable and saves time. I will usually drop the air and put the jacks down. Sometimes doing that we are too low and I need to unhook because the truck will loose air overnight. Well, I installed that new bumper hitch this year. I figured out I can put some blocks under the bumper and dump the air. I have a comfort ride hitch so I don't have to worry about that losing air overnight.

I don't like to unhook if I don't have to, especially for a quick overnighter.  I usually drop my bags and find a level spot.  Your picture got me thinking how I could have a drop leg on the back to hold the truck level if it was too low.  Then I thought I would probably forget it and drive off, that wouldn't be good.  Then I thought how about an air cylinder plumbed into the brake system, so when I released the brakes with the help of a spring it would raise the cylinder automatically. Hmmmm, now I got to think if it would be worth the work.................

Our RV is our “back generator”.  Whenever we loose power at the house (which happens a lot more frequently now with California’s wonderful Public Safety Power Shutoffs), we just move into the RV and live like normal until the power comes back.  We just did it last week when we got a freak snow storm and lost power for two and a half days due to downed power lines.  We have the same sentiment as you, “worth it.”

I often wondered if I could hook my trailer into an automatic transfer switch and plug it into my house and use the power generated from my rv solar/inverter to power a subpanel in my house to run the circuits that I now power up when the power is out, and I use my back up generater.

  6. Very impressive setup.  Thanks for the writeup on your system and all the help you have given to me and others on our setups.  I will be asking for some assistance in a few days on a system I'm installing for a friend, I'm not sure of the settings for the various components.  I will be installing a Cerbo so I'm wondering if you could log into it thru VRM and do the setting thru there?
    Again thanks for your expertise.

  7. I too went with the Sailun tires.  I went with open shoulders on the drive hoping to get more traction, how much more I don't know.  I am singled on the rear, and it will get stuck on wet grass with or without open shoulders.

Well this takes ALL questions away and determines ALL machines entering CA will be required to meet CA emissions laws regardless of state of Residence.

This video is miss leading.  He is telling you that you have to be tested no matter where the vehicle is registered in the US, but what he has highlighted it says, "No matter where it is registered in "CALIFORNIA".  I believe it was at the 4:14 mark in the video.  For me it's not going to matter because I live in Calif. and I'll have to have mine tested even though I live in a county that does not require testing for my other cars.

Can't recall his name, but there was a fella on here a couple years back that was registered in AZ.  I think he had to be commercial and had to have a CDL=A.

He said he was told it couldnt be done in Arizona.  He said he had ties to Nevada and I told him I thought he could reg. it as a private truck there.

  10. I was asked the other day if a truck could be registered in Arizona, noncommercial to pull an RV trailer.  I didn't know so I thought I would ask here.  So, has anyone done it or know what it takes to register one in Arizona?

  11. I use a Mr Buddy heater that I plumbed into our propane system.  Never use while we are sleeping.  If its going to be very cold at night I will set the thermostat on the furnace to come on at 50 degrees.  Then as stated by others I'll get up in the morning and start the Mr Buddy and go back to bed and wait for it to warm up.

  12. !30 lbs is normal.  Dont be surprised if you notice that both tanks aren't the same pressures, that is OK too.  They have a double check valve between them.

What we need is a virtual meeting to discuss these problems as a group.

Thats a fantastic idea.  Maybe something like a ZOOM meeting.  Maybe have someone administrate it and set up topics and have them once or twice a week.  Could have people set up to do demonstrations like Chad on solar and people building their own beds or different issues people are having on their rigs.  Maybe have a separate section in the forum so things can be discussed after the meetings.  I don't know if something like this is possible, because I have no knowledge on how these things work.

  14. Sorry no info on the Voltage toyhauler.  I would say check the tires dates.  I bought a 2014 toyhauler 6 months ago and it had the original tires pushing 8 yrs.  They were Sailun 16ply or maybe 14ply dont remember.  I do like Sailun tires (have 6 on the truck) but after their recall they have increased in price.  Looking at the TransEagle 14 ply, can get them for $60 less a tire.  Oh, back to your original post, nice looking toyhauler.
