  1. Jim and Sandie, now you have a a new toy to play with!! We are still headed to Montana, so may contact you for the best places in Billings and Helana. Have any of your plans chaged that would have you in that are in the next several weks or so? Hope the motorhome sells fast so you can get back on the road soon. Carol
  2. July 27 til Aug 1. At the Lake Shawnee Campground in Topeka, KS. A nice park on Lake Shawnee with a 7 mile bike path all the way around the lake. We have been here before and really like it. It is still so hot!! Then we will head out to the fair in Bellville, KS. Stumbled across this fair in the middle of nowhere a few years ago and loved it! It was a great fair with monster truck pulls and the mini-stock car races, plus the carnival and 4-H stuff. Just left Chanute, KS, after an 8 day ordeal of passing time in a hotel while having serious repairs done to our Hitchhiker. Not a fun time and it was so Hot! Hot! Hot! Hope we don't have to go thru anything else like that for for a very long time!!! Carol
  3. We plan on wintering in AZ, but don't know where yet. We have not done that before so want to do it at least once. Let us know if you find a really nice park! Hope we get the chance to meet you. Carol
  4. Update: Now in homeless in Chanute, KS, at the super 8 unitl July 22. Not fun but repairs are being made to our 'home' and the estimate was MUCH better than we anticipated! Just now much fun and not much to do in the very samll town. Oh, one of the joys of ownwership! Carol
  5. July 14 -15 In Rogers, Arkansas, at the Corps Park on Beaver Lake. Visited the Wal-Mart Visitor Center and Musuem in Bentonville, Wal-Marts headquarters. We had to pay homage!!!! Had to make sure they are handling our funds correctly since we have spent so much money in their stores! It was a real tribute to Sam Walton, who was quite a guy. Also visited an operating grist mill and the Pea Ridge Nat. Miltary Civil War Site. July 16 until ??? in Chanute, KS, for repairs at the HH factory. This is a biggy and, of course, everything is out of warranty. So we have no clue how long it will take them to fix everything. No looking forward to this visit!!! Carol
  6. Paul and Marsha, sorry, too, that we just missed you! The park is really nice. The BBQ was soooo....good! They have about 8 restaurants in AK and won "best ribs" in Memphis in 08. We may hit the one in North Little Rock tomorrow as we hit some of the local attractions. Then we move on to Russellville to explore the Ozarks some more. Then iit is North by way of Van Buren and Bentonville. May have to stop in Bentonville and visit the Wal-mart headquarters and check on our investments (all the $$ we have spent at Wal-marts)!! Is there a prize for the most visited Wal-marts? Maybe next trip we can do more hiking. I really want to return to the area fall of 2012 as we head back to Va. Beach, VA to see family. Which direction are you headed? Carol
  7. July 8 & 9 we are at Maumelle Corps of Eng Park on the AK River just west of Little Rock, AK. Pretty quite and several available sites for a Friday afternoon in the middle of summer. Guess folks think it is just too hot (94+). Well, we are off for dinner at Whole Hog BBQ after watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on TV! Umm. I love BBQ but I can feel the heartburn coming just thinking about it! Carol
  8. 6-25 to ? maybe a week. We are at the Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. Just left Vickcburg and the national Civil War battlefield there was great and very intgeresting. But we were really dissappointed in Vicksburg. The town itself was pretty shabby. The draw is the battlefield and a few casinos. Well, we can say we have been there. Carol
  9. 6-22 to 6-25 or a little longer. We are at the Ameristar Casino RV Park in Vicksburg, MS. Still humid but we will do some Civil War exploring. Thank goodness the MS river is receding so crossing will be fine. I still feel so sorry for those guys in the bottom lands. Carol
  10. 6-6 to 6-13 We are at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. HOT HOT HOT....and so humid the headaches make my head feel like some one is beatting a drum in my head! I am taking Advil like candy!! Looks like chances of rain each day for the next few days. Maybe it will cool things off. Will visit a friend, do some touristy things, and hit the casions for their AC and buffets. Feel a few pounds coming on just thinking about it! Not sure which direction we will go from here, maybe a little north into TN or MS. Carol
  11. 5-29/6-5 We extended our stay one more week here at the Summerdale, AL, SKP park simply to stay out of Memorial Day traffic and do s couple more thing s of interest in the area. Jim and Sandy, any of the flooding near Billings anywhere near your place? Hope you are safe! Carol
  12. 5-6 to 5-29 We are at the SKP park in Summerdale. Here just to wait out the tornado season and enjoy the nice beaches and warm weather. Right many people here this time of year. Carol
  13. May 1- May 6 we are at Big Lagoon State Park in Pensacola. All the Spring breaks are over. Soooo... quite! Nice! Took a nice hike to a tower overlook this morning. Nice views but it is very hot and humid! Sure hope the rain tomorrow will cool things down. We just left Eglin AFB in Destin, FL. Now that is a nice beach town!! We took a nice relaxing ride on a pontoon boat to search the bay for dolphine. I grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, and never went on a boat to look for dolphin. Here I am in FL doing just that! Go figure!! Saw plenty of them and even had a private viewing overhead of 3 guys doing stunts in old WWII planes and finished the evening off with fireworks. Really enjoyed the extra treats that weren't in the ticket price! Carol
  14. April 22-Apr 28 we are at Elgin AFB, at Fort Walton Beach, FL. Very few people here since the snowbirds have pretty much left. Still just staying warm and trying to avoid the mid-west bad weather as long as we can until July when we have to be Kansas. I sure hope all the snowbirds and winter Texans heading home are finding safe places to stay during all the bad weather. Carol
  15. Apr 12 until ?? We are at Tyndall AFB near Panama City, FL, for a few days to catch up on a medical check for a prescription renewal. Had a great time at our last stop in Carrabelle, FL. Went to a Worm Grunting festival! Funny!-You take a big metal file and hammer a stake into the ground. Rub the file over the top of the stake and it makes a 'grunting' sound. It vibrates the ground and the worms think it is raining and come out of the ground. It works! This town has made a yearly festival out of this, T-shirts and all! There were prizes for the most, the longest, and the shortest worms. Plus there are craft vendors and lots of good food while listening to bluegrass music. A nice wholesome fun day for kids and families. It is nice to see these still exist with all the outisde negative influences surrounding kids today. The festival is every year around the 8 to the 12 of April. Carol
  16. Sandi, so far we hav not had too much bad weather. There was a major rain storm at Bushnell, but just a day. We are now in Carrabelle, FL, riight on the Gulf east of Pananma City. They are calling for "strong" thunderstorms tomorrow with high wind and then a cold front and back to sunny days. We should be okay. We leave Sunday and will be at the Tyndall Military CG. We will stay along the coast for awhile. From there I am not sure because I don't like being in Tornado Alley this year and that is the direction we need to go to get to Kansas City from the south. We may be in touch later also because we really would like to find a RV park in your area around Billings or Helena after our factory visit in July and stay for a month if we find a good rate. Can you suggest a few to try? Will you be in the area long about Aug or Sept? Sure would be great to catch up again. Carol
  17. April 2- 4 Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park in Crystal River, FL. Nice park with large spaces. Activities looked to be numerous over the winter months but not now since snowbirds are leaving. A bit rustic and wooded but pleasant. We went to Homosassa Springs State Park and that was really nice. A bit pricey for grass sites but we got here after April 1st so price went down a little. Carol
  18. March 27 thru April ? We are in Sumter oaks in Bushnell, FL. I wanted to be here in time for the Webster's Flea Market on Monday. I love that flea market! We will be here about a week then maybe head over to the gulf and some of the military campgrounds we have not stayed at before. just enjoying the warm sunny weather! Carol
  19. OK Sandie, we'll try it. March 21 until..... a week+ maybe. We are at the SKP park in Wauchula, FL. Carol
  20. Packed and ready to go! We are still at home in Virginia Beach, VA, until Monday morning. We are chomping at the bit!!! Have a reservation at Shaw AAFB in Georgia for Monday night. Will play it by ear from there, probably stopping at Summerdale, and a nights stay at our usual stop at a small park on Lake Ponchatrain. Then we will be in Victoria, TX, for 2 months. Then we head to the RV show in Tampa and on to Key West, etc. to visit with other RVing friends. Jack and Danielle, see you in Summerdale, Bushnell, and at the RV show! Looking forward to seeing you again. Carol Simpson
