  1. Adjust the facts?? Not me, and what ice cream machine?? Jerry you've been in those Tennessee hills sipping the Kool-Aid waay too long!! We just come back to Oklahoma in the spring to wind our watches! Amazing how fast they wind up when you're spinning around in a Tornado.. We did have a little scare yesterday evening and went to the Hospital shelter across the street. Turned out to be wind, a little hail, but nothing to write home about. Today is a beautiful day sunny, 65 degrees and a full parking lot. There is a farmers market, dog show, flea market and a 30 or so wagon train here today. I could probably sell my parking spot for a pretty penny right now. Oh well, I guess I'll just people watch and sip my coffee. Steve ps: Yeah, Lee, I do make mistakes, but now I can't remember them, so are they still mistakes?? Hmmmm
  2. Jeff, that's why we have seat belts and shocks in our house
  3. Well we got a line of storms through here tonight. A couple of small tornado's on the north side of OKC, but just high winds and a little hail here at the fairgrounds. Not big enough hail to do any damage, but you never know. We pulled in the slides and are getting ready to put them back out again. Storms are still building a bit east and north of here, but the rear of them are getting ready to get by us. Still raining though.
  4. Rest of the story on the winegard travler. Received the shielded cable package (has four cables with a common outer covering), about $64. Our son went up on the roof and installed it and now everything works. Turns out two of the cables were bad. One was all the way bad, and the other was intermittent, so that was what was driving us crazy. Now we are supposed to have tornados this afternoon, so I just got the antenna back in time to watch for them. They are already letting schools out early, so I guess it's time to find a good restaurant with a tornado shelter. Oh well. Glad you're feeling some better Lee, that small stroke I had a couple of years ago slowed me down for a while. Everything worked, but I couldn't get my energy level back for about 6 months or so. That and I couldn't play the piano very well. Oh yeah, I never did learn to play that thing anyway, that was Carol that played. I guess my memory suffered also. Hmmmmmm
  5. Here's a little satellite story for all of you that have a SK3005 Winegard Travler. I noticed that we were not getting asterisks on two of the satellites 110 and 119. Then also noticed that we were not getting a few of our HD channels also. Looking at the unit we found that one of the horizontal cables was corroded and replaced it. That fixed the asterisk problem, however, after a while the antenna would go up, look for a while, give a No LNB voltage error and then re-park. This is not good when you're getting ready to record the "big game"! There are four (4) small shielded cables running vertically from the top of the base of the unit, through the shaft up to the LNB's on the end. They are labeled a, b, c and d. I asked Winegard what was wrong and they said if I took cable © and changed it with cable (a) then if the "No LNB voltage warning went out it was the © cable that was bad. That's the one that carries the voltage to the LNBs. They said that if I had the standard SK3005 antenna it only needed two good cables to work, but if I had a SWM8 kit on the antenna I would need all four cables working to have all the functions. I have the SWM8 kit. I asked if they had a wiring diagram for the 4 wires and they said " it doesn't matter which cable the a, b, c, d are hooked to, as long as all four of them are hooked up". Sounds crazy to me, but I ordered the four cables and should have them Monday. We'll see! to be continued.........
  6. Lee, we spent some time in Charlston a couple of years ago. They did have cowgirls there all right, but they looked different. No spurs! Might be easier on you! We were at the Elks club there (non assisted living), but had a good time exploring the area. Jeff, don't come up here to get out of the rain, we are supposed to get 5 or 6 inches of it starting this evening. It's looking like it might start at any time right now. We are in the middle of the farmers market right now and have one of our grand kids with us for a couple of hours. She had to go out and buy a cucumber, so we were involved in a major shopping spree. Ha Ha We haven't even thought about next winter yet, but we will meet up with the group somewhere for sure. We like Yuma, Tucson, Borrrego Springs, and so far have not stayed in any one place for the season. Longest was in Yuma when we sold our other bus. Nov to Jan. Sky's the limit. Happy Travels Steve
  7. Lee, thoughts and prayers are coming from Carol & I too. Sounds like you have everything pretty well in hand, so just know we will help with anything we can! We too think of you all the time. Hang in there old timer! Steve & Carol
  8. Oh Oh, don't tell Carol, she'll want a diesel version with a Canon Mark II with a 500mm zoom! We made it back to Norman Oklahoma and were lucky to get a spot at the fairgrounds. I think the only reason this spot was open was the 50A was not working. I know the maintenance guy here, and he came right out and fixed it. Lucked out there. We both caught colds in the driving and are laying low for a while to cough snort sneeze and exorcise this bug from our systems. Had good driving weather most of the way after a small blizzard near Clines Corners, and the bus did great, so at least all of that went well. I did pretty good against my sister and her husband on the brackets, but Oklahoma sure fizzled out at the end. Now to get this bus cleaned up and presentable after all the snow and drizzle. Nah, take a nap instead!! Steve
  9. Boy the wind really huffed and puffed here yesterday. We were going to leave, but didn't feel like driving in that all day. Now we're pulling up the anchor this morning and heading up toward Flagstaff. I don't know what my getting on the forum problem is, but I'm on now for a change, so HI everybody!! Hope you all had a fine Easter. Where was that anchor puller tool?? Oh yeah, it's a new app on my phone mumble mumble.......
  10. Thanks for all the well wishes for Carol. It is amazing the things that can be done nowdays and she is doing fine, Even got in a 6 mile bike ride yesterday. Everything except getting on the FORUM!! I've been trying to get on for 3 days now and all i can get to is the classless class, but not the individual posts. I've tried internet explorer, chrome, and firefox with no luck. I managed to get on it with my phone, but the buttons are too small for my hands and it doesn't work very well. Now all of a sudden i got on. Hmmmmm We are leaving to meet up with Mike & Julie for lunch, so I'll have to try again later. Steve
  11. Oh boy, I've been off here a while because I couldn't get on this part of the forum. I tried everything and nothing worked!! Finally today I upgraded to windows 10, and what do you know it worked. I don't know what else I may have screwed up in the process, but at least this works. We were supposed to leave Prescott last week, but Carol had to have an emergency surgery on St. Patricks day to get rid of a baaaaad gaul bladder! She has had a few bouts with it lately, but a bad one on the morning of the 17th got us to the emergency room. The hospital in Prescott Valley was great and all of the staff were really nice to us poor outsiders. We were in at 9:00AM, and out by 9:00PM that day, and it couldn't have come off any better than that. Doing great now and we will leave here on Friday to head back to Oklahoma. Looks like we will meet up with Mike & Julie this week, so we are looking forward to that. Carol has 3 cousins here, so we have had a good time catching up with all of them. Toni & Doug, glad the wedding went off well Lee, those levelers will be a great addition to your rig. I just had a new person park beside me today and it took him the better part of an hour to get his rig leveled. Wore me out!! Jeri & Teri, just looking at the map, and there was a streak coming across the country. Then I realized it was you guys. Never saw anyone get out of tornado alley so fast. Ha Ha Lamberts mmmmmmmmmmmmm good!! Got to take a Steve now ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  12. Well, we pulled up the jacks today and moved 45 miles to Prescott Valley. Just got here and 3 or 4 of Carol's cousins called and we had to go to a mini family reunion. A great time was had by all and a nice round of cranberry juice and spaghetti followed it. We just got back to the Elks, and are gearing up to watch a OKC Thunder basketball game. Woo! Hoo!
  13. Hugs and prayers to Delcie from the Dwyer's too. We are thinking about you guys, and hope you have a safe travel back.
  14. Well, Jeri, you can always paint your jeep pink then head out!!
  15. Ok, Lee it went away! Neat trick! We took a pink jeep tour out of Sedona today and was it ever fun. Learned a lot about the area and the capabilities of a Jeep Rubicon. It lasted about 2 hours and had quite a few tight, sharp, steep, rocky turns in it. Such a beautiful place to visit, and getting out there in a Jeep with a knowledgeable guide was great. During one particularly steep climb I asked her how long she had been doing this. She replied "since about 8:00 this morning!"....................... I deserved it! The weather was perfect 75 with no wind, so we had a great time. Highly recommend Pink Jeep tours. Then we came back into Cottonwood and stopped at Wild Hog BBQ in the middle of town. Best ribs we've had in a long time, so all and all it was a fine full-timing day. Now for a little nip of cranberry juice before bedtime. Happy travels Steve
  16. I can see a snow capped peak in the distance. The key word is distance!
  17. Glad to hear she made it back up there safely with her rig. Winterizing NOT!!
  18. Yeah, Dave, we are about 5 miles from there so it's easy to call it "home"! LoL! We were there before and paid the guy $10 to start up the big power plant he has there. It's quite a thing to see and I don't know how he ever got it up there. It backfires and echoes all over the valley. Yikes!!
  19. Jeri, It's the Metairie Elks, just West of downtown. They had 30A, water and a swimming pool that they opened every day at noon. Just a parking lot, but close enough to the French Quarter to be easy access. They had about 12 spaces, and were a really hospitable bunch. The address is 2215 Cleary Ave. Metairie, 70001. They charged $120 per week. They even set up a food court one weekend around our bus and we had fresh jambalaya and shrimp poor boys right outside our door. Nice!!
  20. No! Roger, the Elks Lodge is at the bottom of the hill in Clarkdale! Not taking BessyBus up that hill.
  21. Well we explored around Payson yesterday. Went through Strawberry and Pine and on to the Mogollon rim. Those people are pretty isolated but the town of Payson is an active community for sure. A beautiful day in the 70's with no wind so the trip was great. A couple of places we topped out above 8,000 feet and there were still snowbanks, but a lot of melting going on. We had lunch at a really nice Italian restaurant in Payson (great lasagna) and managed to get back to the Jerome Elks just after dark. We were actually full (all 4 spaces) last night, but two of them left this morning so it's quiet again. The weather here couldn't be better, 75 degrees and 45 at night. Lucked out for a change. Had a water leak start in the fresh water pump. It's a surflow 5900 series and was leaking from where the sections come together. I loosened up the screws, decided to not take it all the way apart, tightened everything back up and now no leaks. Must have just loosened up over time. Now to head downtown and check out the food situation.
  22. ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (HUH?) Time to wake up?? Oh, the cranky old man shook the tree and all of us fell out. Hmmmm Jeri, so glad you rode out the storm with no damage. We were close to a tornado in Oklahoma last year and it's no fun that's for sure. We survived the birthday party at Paul & Sue's place and had a great time. I'm still sore from all that dancing, but living makes me sore too, so it was much better to have a good excuse. We were staying at the Elks club in Havasu and our 5 day limit ran out, so we headed out. Carol's cousin called us and wanted us to stop in Prescott while another cousin was visiting so we headed for there. Now, after another chalk change we wound up in Clarkdale at the Elks club. Nice setup here with 30A, water and a dump on premises. Windy drive yesterday, but the bus handles much better now since Redlands RV worked on it, so the wind was no problem. We did see a lot of snow along the road near Flagstaff, but closed our eyes until we got far enough south on I-17 to drive out of it. Janice, sorry your eyes didn't come out as good as you wanted. Mine are ok, but I still have to wear glasses to see up close. I tried the reading glasses, sun glasses, no glasses thing and wore myself out changing them all the time. I didn't really have a problem wearing glasses, I just had a problem wearing them and not being able to see anyway. I never did have Lasik, so I guess i'm no help. Hope they keep getting better. Well got to go explore a little. Steve
  23. Made it down to the Porter's party place yesterday! What a great layout, and we enjoyed the hot tub with Dave, Nancy, Paul and Sue. BessyBus fits in here nicely. We cooked salmon with veggies last night and had a great time telling war stories. The wind was up yesterday for the drive from Laughlin, but now it's pretty calm, so time to check out the Lake Havasu sights!
  24. Ed & Linda, so sorry to hear the bad news. hope you can find a place soon and get settled. Not fair that they should not make you whole. Best of luck and hugs to you both. Steve & Carol
