  1. Dave glad to hear the new truck is ready for action. Sometimes it takes a while on these new vehicles to get them equipped. I have to get on here and say something or IYQ will chew me out for being derelict of duty. I have a feeling he is sneaking around looking for the ice cream machine, so if I don't post he'll think I'm not paying attention!! Problem is there is nothing going on around here and it's hot too! We just went to Zio's and had a great Italian lunch. Now I'm just waiting around for the windshield replacement guy to finish getting my "picture window" replaced. If I ran my old shop like these guys do, nothing would ever get done. Aaarrgghhh! Steve
  2. That's a tough one Dave, we really liked the Salt Lake City/Provo area. We visited all the sites in Salt Lake, then they have two very nice mountain drives near Provo. One is the loop that goes through Sundance (Robert Redford's place) which got high enough to run into snow in Sept. Then we also love the Moab area. One thing about going down the East side (Ft. Collins area) is the ease in getting to Estes Park and Rocky mountain national park. Also the Pikes peak, garden of the gods in the Colorado Springs area (while deftly worming your way through Denver traffic)! Then you have the I-70 drive through the mountains. Coming down the West side one of the prettiest drives in a motor home is through Glenwood springs. We went through it one time in the rain, and had to go back through it when the sun was out. Ok, here's one route. Provo Utah, Salt Lake City, across to Laramie then Fort Collins (camp and explore Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park) then south to Colorado Springs (camp and explore cog train to Pikes Peak, Air Force Academy, garden of the gods). Backtrack a little to I-70 and take it West through Eisenhower tunnel, explore Vail and then the drive through Glenwood springs (worth it) then go south when you get to Grand Junction to Montrose and then Durango . Then fill up with diesel Or of course go to plan 2 or 3 or.................................... Oh yeah, stop and see Jeff & Tina in Provo (I just noticed he snuck a post in there.
  3. Dave, we came down through Laramie on 287 into Fort Collins. Nice road and no traffic. We then went up to Estes Park for the highland festival with knights jousting and such. They always have something going on up there. Then we came back down to Horsetooth reservoir at Fort Collins with Mike and Julie and stayed there until the floods were over. Nice spot to make your base camp and drive your truck up to Estes and Rocky Mountain National park. That flood up there was a hell of a mess, but we were on high ground there at Horsetooth. All I can remember of that part was Mike standing on the roof of his rig with a tube of silicone calk and shouting some Scottish curses at the "rain gods". We got about 11" of rain in a day or two. Fort Collins has really nice restaurants. Lucille's is one of the favorites if you can get in. They had a killer crab benedict. My sister lives in Berthoud (just south of there) so we go there a lot. Happy Travels Steve
  4. Looks like the end of the month we may head over to the blue ridge parkway and explore! Then up to Wisconsin! in chalk of course!
  5. Hey, Jeff, we stayed at the Provo Elks for a month. Nice place! They even brought us out chicken soup when Carol had her operation. A little tight getting in the drive as the lodge is off the street a ways, but once you get in off the street there's plenty of room.. Steve
  6. Lee, glad you made the trip and are getting settled down! You've had a lot of stress lately and maybe now you can relax a little and heal some more. Hope you can find a nice place, with plenty of cowgirls. Do they call them cowgirls in South Carolina? Inquiring minds want to know. Steve
  7. Big rain tonight here in Oklahoma! Didn't look like much to start with, but all of a sudden we were in the middle of it. It blew in from the North (unusual), and then after passing through, it came back from the south. No hail, but 60mph winds and plenty more rain. I'm glad we were able to go to a fireworks event yesterday, because tonight's show was cancelled, or I think I saw it floating by a while ago. No leaks, but my drivers window vents must have gotten clogged since the last rain. Looks like that jumped right up on the priority list! We did manage to sneak out to the Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch so we had our stamina built up for the storm. It looked nasty, but none of the weather guys were even talking about it so around here that's a non event. Linda, sounds like you guys are getting an early start on a "third" retirement. We wish you luck in finding a place that meets all of your needs and then some. Maybe even a "travel scoot" race track for those quiet weekends. Who knows, Nascar might need another class! Well time to stick the wet towels in the dryer and hit the sack.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  8. I hope the trip goes ok Lee, at least the weather should be good for your trip. We're all riding with you!! We'll call South Carolina and warn them!
  9. Moving day, Yea! Oh, we only moved 20 feet into space 1 We have been sitting here in space 2 for a month or so and are blocked from seeing anything by the big bus in space one. The people in space one never come out of their rig, so it's like no-one is there, but they are close enough that I can't put my awning all the way out. Well I heard a little commotion over there this morning and went out to find that they were leaving in an hour. I hustled around a little and was ready to move when they left. I had to do it quick because there were a couple of rigs cruising the parking lot looking for a home, but with a roaring of diesel, hiss of air brakes and bleet of air horn, I moved with the speed of a slow moving lightning bolt and occupied the spot. Now I have a room with a view and room to deploy my awning. Now for a drink (oh my gosh a fruit fly just drowned in it), obviously a connoisseur of baaaaad whisky, so I'll give him a decent burial first. Sigh!
  10. I talked to Lee last night and he is doing pretty well, but it's hard for him to talk or write. He said he has all the words down in his head, just hard to get them out. His spirits seem pretty good and he will probably go East in a week. He is getting rid of the rest of his stuff and getting the trailer ready to sell. He will put the Navion up for sale also. He is planning to start chasing nurse (cow girls) as soon as gets to his new home. I don't know exactly where it is yet, but not on the coast. He said he doesn't want to be in an area where there are hurricanes. I told him everyone was thinking and praying for him, and he said he could read the forum ok, but it was hard for him to write. I told him to have his great grand niece post for him, or get one of the cowgirls to do it. He said he would. It was good to hear his voice. Steve
  11. Lee, hang in there buddy! Know that we are all thinking about you and hoping for the best. We love you man! Steve & Carol ps: I think they have ice cream machines in all of the nursing homes now.
  12. You guys are getting way out of line. Wait until IYQ reads all of this. Hmmmmm
  13. Lee, hoping those small strokes go away. Sounds like you are slowly getting your rig ready to move in to. You can call me anything you want to if that helps.
  14. Getting ready to head out to Lake Eufaula in the morning. Might be a little hard to pull the pin as we've been here for a couple of months. Carol's photography group is having a camp out this weekend so we're going to join them. I think we can do this camping thing!! I had to start the bus to add some air to one tire, so I know it starts anyway. This is one of those pesky tires that seems to loose 8 lbs of air in a couple of months, but only 8lbs. After that it stays the same for (I don't know how long, but long)!! Oh well, it's aired up now, so we'll see. The weather is stabilizing now in Ok land. Getting hot, partly cloudy, little breeze, but no storms, so that's good for a change. Still playing with the grandkids, so they're not sick of us yet. Steve
  15. Lee, you've got to stop writing those posts in invisible ink, you're hard enough to figure out when we can see your ramblings!!
  16. OK, OK, I know when I'm wooped, I'll bring the ice cream machine and the shotgun back!!
  17. Cranberry juice tasting?? Sounds like a capitol idea! Count us in. I think diet pepsi qualifies for that too!! We've been busy with visits from Mary Jane Finley, Tom Voles, and Sharon and John (heyduke) stopped in on their way north. We also had the grandkids all day at the water park that weekend, so now we are trying to recover. Nice quiet day here at the fairgrounds, 67 degrees with a little light rain so all is well. Thinking of all the troops this memorial day! Steve
  18. Hey, you'll never notice the extra length of the crew cab, and Roger & I will have a lot more legroom! Does it have a built in cooler for the back seat??
  19. Sounds like a nice set up! Does it have a locking steering wheel?
  20. Great Lee, glad everything is going your way. Hang in there! We're thinking about you. Steve
  21. Hard to say as they don't take reservations, however there are a few elec & water spaces open right now. They have one space on our row that the electric is bad on, so no-one parks there. That makes for a good place to dump as it does have a sewer. It's a big lot, so there is plenty of space to park. Mary Jane & Tom are here visiting right now and they have a 30A spot in the middle. MJ & Tom came in yesterday and we had a nice visit last night. We are taking them to the OKC bombing memorial today in a few minutes. Great to see them again, and we had fun trying to remember where we had been in the country!! Memory is not what it used to be!! Got to run..... Steve
  22. Dang Jeff, get out of there before you "catch on fire"!!
  23. We'll be here for another month or so, so come on down there's always room at the fairgrounds. Maybe not full hook ups, but a number of 30A & water and 50A & water. There is one broken site (electric doesn't work), that can be used for dumping so no problem there.
  24. Well Roger, so far we've been in the right place when the storms went through. Yesterday the one storm formed just West of us and went over us before it got really going. The bad ones were about 30 miles south of us. Tomorrow it seems we'll have another round. Weather is not hot enough yet to cancel these things out. Whew! I'm sure glad to hear about all of the positives on the cancer tests. I had a mole taken off my face last week and it was benign also so I guess we are all batting 1000! Heyduke, let us know what day you're coming through and we'll run all the tornados back in the pen and hold them till you make it through. Or come by and see us at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds In Norman if you have time. Happy Travels Steve
