  1. Have open lug on the single axle kenworth. Drove like you described when it was new. Wasn’t until half of the tread was worn that it got better. Had a funny wear pattern, heal to toe on the lugs. Won’t put those tires on next time. Drives great on the flat concrete but the ruts are something else.

  2. There are differences in all trailers or fifth wheels. 4season trailer is ok to use in all four seasons, that does not mean to live in full time. Look at the construction before you start looking at all the tv’s and fancy lights. It doesn’t have to be new either. Some of the best rv’s are not even made anymore. Stay away from the words light weight or ultra light. And use a truck that’s rated higher that the weight of the trailer for safety and longevity. Have fun, it takes a lot of research especially if your new to camping.

  3. Carl flex armor is the way to go if your going to keep the rv and don’t want to worry about sealing it, at a certain age people don’t want to get up there and do it. We’ve had ours almost 3 years and love it. It’s quieter and cooler. Price probably has gone up but ours was about 7500 in 2021. New pvc roof to put on out 2021 NH would be 9000-12000 from calling around to different rv repair places.

Are telling us that you do that at every stop when traveling? We did always locate emergency medical care and hospitals when we stopped for an extended period, but only then. For pet care we have only needed a vet on 3 occasions that I can think of over more than 40 years of RV travels. On those occasions we got recommendations from local people and only 1 time was it an emergency visit. All 3 were while in an area for an extended period of more than a month. Over those same years, I had my wife to an emergency room twice for stitches and to a "doc in a box" clinic for illness twice.

I think that I would agree that we should do those things but wonder how many of us do them? Should we do so at each 1 night stop, each 1 week stop, or for what period? I think that perhaps we were very lucky as we traveled with our children and didn't do that.

We do it when we stop for more than a couple nights, and know the county you are in for weather warnings. Usually I find them just by looking at google maps to see what’s around us. When boondocking with no phone signal we try to find where the nearest one is before we get there. And try to be real careful we don’t get hurt that we need to go. Having to go for a health reason is anyone’s guess as when that will happen. Wife says no climbing ladders when boondocking.

  5. We have over 40000 miles on our trailer in almost 3 1/2 years. I check the bearings for play at most campsite stops and check temps. I repacked 1 wheel to check the grease a year and a half ago and it looked like new grease. It’s a triple axle and a little over 28000 lbs. I might repack them in the fall just to do it and the site will make it easy to do it. I definitely do not do it every year just because the service people say to. How often did you repack the bearings in the old rear wheel drive cars? Usually when the brake pads wore out.

    I'm 75 an single.

Kirk - the current results show zero for the 80 or more category.  Did you forget to "vote"? 😉 Also, clarification please.  For couples with a single forum ID, whose ages fall in different categories (like Danfreda1): should they use the age of the most active participant, or the average age of the two?

I did do that with the age. I use this forum but she does Facebook. I won’t do Facebook.

I know it is not Airstream's fault and you know that it was not Airstream;s fault but I am willing to bet that the family on their own or with the nudging of some lawyer will bring suit. I did notice from the picture above and verifying on the Airstream website that that door is a "suicide" door, at highway speed I doubt the woman could have held the door closed once it opened.

    100% agree with you

. Just demonstrates that even doctors sometimes fail to use reasonable care.

N.Y. Vehicle and Traffic Law 1228Riding in house coach trailers

    Current as of: 2023

No person shall drive a vehicle on a public highway while drawing a house coach trailer occupied by any person and no person shall occupy a house coach trailer while it is being drawn upon a public highway.

That’s a nice way of saying none of them used common sense. Just wondering if that was a first trailer for them. It’s sad but not airstream’s fault.

  9. We just left Benson on April 11 and stopped at a blm just west of Alamogordo. It’s a lake for the Air Force Base( hollaman). Then went up to 70 to Rosewell and stayed straight through and it turns into 380. Great drive we stayed in a picnic area pull off one night too. We followed 30 to Greenville Texas but once you get close to the falls area you can take one of the state highways south. The Hobbs area roads are ok but I would stay away. The raids are dirty/oily from all the oil work around there but the roads are good. I need to look at the map because I think we have taken 190 off of 10 also. I will look but if it is it is hilly but good roads. Will post after I check

  10. We have nationwide with agent in rapid city. It’s covered towing or bobtail. Another thing I just found out about yesterday is safelite glass doesn’t do hdt sand I think motor homes. We had an appointment for today and the guy called yesterday and said he doesn’t know how the appointment got made. February 1 they started phasing out the inventory. We just have to go to another company to get it done. Safelite does the glass coverage for nationwide so just some info.
