Did you resolve this by securing the handle?  I might be missing something about what the change was.

Yes when I hitch up as soon as we moved the truck the jaws would open like the picture. Now when hitched up and I can pull on the arm the jaws close the rest of the way then I can put the pin in on the plate I welded on the arm and the locking block that keeps the jaws closed doesn’t move.

  2. I did the same thing Rick. Now the jaws stay closed all the way not open like they did before. At the 2022 national hdt rally I looked at a lot of et hitches and the older ones stayed tight, the newer ones have a lot of slop in them. Haven’t heard anymore about a fix from the inverter in a while so did the addition and use a pin to keep the jaws closed.

  3. In the Alton /Grafton area there is a state park that is near the Mississippi and Illinois River confluence on the Great river road. Lots to do in the area. Need to get reservations now because it fills up every weekend. 20/30/50 amp at every site and 4 dump and fill stations. Water scattered throughout. We know the park pretty good so if you go might be able to tell you which ones are good sites. Sorry it’s grafton ,illinois

LOL...that's not a myth, but it could start a good fight!

Have been on a highway lately? I don’t know how many unsafe cdl trained drivers we saw just on this trip that are doing everything but driving. It doesn’t take a genius to know you don’t speed through a construction zone but at least he has a cdl.

  5. Carl I wish our cheap heat worked as good as yours and David’s. It’s been worked on more than once and doesn’t put out half the heat. I would not spend the money on the cheap heat if I were to buy another trailer.
I might have it installed by a qualified cheat heat installer and may even have this on looked at by one. It’s a shame to burn through a 40 lb tank of propane every 3-4 days.

Be very careful about buying a 5th wheel to be pulled by a pickup truck. Weight matters in stopping as well as starting. Do not believe a salesperson who says, "Sure, it can handle that." He/she won't be held responsible if you have an accident. Get the truck weighed as part of your test drive. After you buy it, pack it then weigh it again. That way you will have real numbers when deciding what you can tow.

  7. Should be embarrassed to let himself get that low on propane when he knew it was going to stay cold. Bet if he had a generator it was propane too. We have two 40 lb tanks and when we are in cold weather as soon as one runs out I fill it up, and keep the  30 gal diesel tank filled for the generator. You never know what might happen.

  8. Propane refrigerator MAY be the most common cause but I don’t see what would make it worse by driving. If you have a gas truck and you stop to refuel you might want to turn it off. We switched our to a 12 volt dual compressor cooling unit and don’t need to worry about that anymore.
