    Hey Kirk,

Doing good. Became TX residents in June. Picked up our drivers licenses, registrations, voting registrations and LTC's while there in July. Only thing that was a surprise was that all of your vehicles must be present on the initial registration and all, including the trailer must be inspected before they will register them. We were told that our car didn't need to be present. We have taken care of that since we decided last minute to bring it with us.

We hung out in Sumerdale AL most of the summer. Will be headed back to Livingston the last 2 weeks of November before wintering in the RGV.

Again, thanks for all your help.

    Mark and Kim.

Sounds like a great start! Thanksgiving dinner at Rainbow's End is worth doing.

The focus of this forum will have to be just one thing - anyone care to guess?

Single source information sources - single point - are more time efficient.
Thus, specialty groups attract more participants.

    "Time" grows increasingly important.
Thus, broad based forums tend to suffer.

I tend to think of the topic areas as single point sources. I only read the topics that interest me. No one says you have to read all of them. I do, however, check the latest post area to see if anything there from other topics catches my eye. Those that do tend to be from the HDT area which I don't normally read but they post some fun stuff.

  3. I don't know how you'd find cabins near Planet Fitness but if you buy a van type RV (called a class B.)  you don't have to tow anything and you can park it daytimes at Planet Fitness. And make a smoothie or take a nap right there after your workout. :)

The maker of my rv put a bottle at floor level by the door, completely useless unless someone was coming in to try to suppress.

I think all RV manufacturer's put the fire extinguishers by the door. My guess is they want the buyer to see it every time they come inside so they'll remember where to find it if needed. But if the idea is to suppress the fire just enough to have time to escape then you're right, that's a useless location since you'd just head on out the door. Unless there was someone else further back in the RV that needed that extra time to escape so you'd grab and use it instead of heading out. Then it would be good to remember where it is.

I'll handle them like I do ground wasps, after dark pour a cup of gasoline on the nest. No need to light the vapor, it kills them anyway.

That sounds to me like a potential source of a wildfire.

  6. I just wondered about this. Our country has a trash/recycling center. Your vehicle is weighed as you arrive and then again as you leave to determine your charge. I wonder if they would weigh if you weren't dropping off a load? Of course, if you are in the process of cleaning out your house preparing to go full time, you may well have a load.

Well. I will 1st plead the fifth if any of this is ever turned back onto me, but here is a true story of getting rid of bad tenants who won't move out after all notices have been served.

It is not hard to find someone who knows someone else who knows a group of bikers.  It might cost you a keg, but just ask the guys (a small group maybe 10 guys) to show up on a Wednesday at the house in question and inform the delinquent tenants that they are the new renters and will be back on Saturday to move in!  House was vacated by Friday night!   Owner was pleased.

    Love it!

  8. My parents and grandparent were landlords for years but I never asked them how they made that work. My grandparents converted their house into a duplex and rented the upstairs to groups of young, working women. The also converted their huge garage into a two-bedroom house and rented that. So they always lived on the premises where their rental units were. My Dad simply kept the first house he bought when we moved to a larger house but I didn't know that as a child so I don't know how he managed it. But, I never got the impression either of them had any problems. But, we all know life was different back in the 1950s.

Coach net is said to have better lists of two services and understanding of what you will need and will usually send the right equipment the first time (not a one ton!) and is said to have better relationships (meaning more fair pay outs) with heavy haulers.

Coach Net also has a reputation for prompt payment which tow services prefer.

I read these to my husband only to look up and see him sticking his tongue out. We both laughed.

While not SD domicile I honestly could care less about being involved in local voting issues, which I think is probably true of most full time RVers since nothing there generally affects us. We use our daughter's address in Texas for domicile and the only time I have voted on a local issue was a school district issue which would impact our daughter's pay as she works for the district and even in that election I left everything else blank as I simply did not know enough to make an informed vote. I have voted in all the federal elections though.

When we were domiciled in SD that was our policy--only vote on federal issues unless it was something that would affect the RVing community.
