Moving onto my next project which is to build a ramp system for loading a 2-Door Jeep onto the deck of my Volvo. Pretty much starting off with a clean deck with the TSLB installed. Who can share ideas, plans, material list. I can weld the materials together and then bolt to my frame rails and to existing parts of my truck. Buy or build Jeep ramps? How long? Will cut off my storage box in order to make more room for the Jeep 13' length. Planning to have Jeep 50" away from King Pin or as needed. Have seen Jack M. ramp system really nice and can not do so I my truck, most likely will store ramps next to the Jeep. Let the ideas begin and pictures of your Jeep systems are most welcomed. Will need a welding magnet to mount my camera on; where to purchase?

I am alittle high hence looking at the leveling value to take away about one inch if you smart folks think that will be OK? The TSLB was alot of work to install, just put in the last 8 bolts 5/8"x 2" today. Have not tied into my air system to be able to air up the hitch bags. About to start a new post on ramps to get a Jeep up on my deck.

Ok just measured my frame rails they are High Frame Rails. I think Volvo set my truck too high. It is at 8.25 and should fall within 7 - 7.75. This is good news for me as I could use a lower deck for my 5th wheel plate. The Volvo tech struggled to understand and get values. I plan to lower to 7.25.

Once upon a time I watched a Volvo tech adjust my ride height as a result of replacing my air adjuster the notes I keep are as follows with one question.
Procedure:
1. Measure Ground to bottom of Frame (28.5")
2. Measure Ground to center axle shaft (20.25")
Difference is ride height 8.25"
The Spec is 7.99". My question is what is the +/- value _____________
My truck is long wheelbase 300" if Vin is needed will supply. Putting this out to the Volvo folks in case this is easy.......

Larry hope you mentioned my name if possible. She really knows our trucks very well and how to work within the Progressive organization.

Registered, but it's not all that easy.
I agree more difficult this year, maybe a Mac issue. Could not add in my wife’s contact details.

What is your target height for your 5th wheel plate and which hitch are you installing? I am about to install a Trailer Saver TSLB. My 5th wheel king ping level sits at 48”.

This has been a huge topic on this site. I have been dealing with my Denver local agent and Progressive for about 2 years. She has struggled to get me insured but not lately with the greatest rates. Progressive agents are not all the same across the country, there are a hand full of SPECIALIZED agents that are allowed to insure HDT's, million dollar plus RV's and other specialized policies. This has been one of the best kept secrets unless you read and research.
Niccole wrote me up March 28th for 2024 Brinkley and my 2006 Volvo. My rates are very good and I can drive the Volvo bobtail anytime. Hope this helps a few folks, let her know Dennis from Denver told you about her.

This above agent is known as a Specialized Progressive agent. She writes HDT's up daily or weekly. I just did my 5th wheel and Volvo yesterday.

My trailer width is 96" so I need to allow about 50" from King Pin to bumper of Jeep or what ever 4X4 goes there. My storage space just shrunk down to 40" but it is really tall. Thanks Nigel now for the ramp designs strong enough to load a Jeep. Storage could work next to the Jeep flat on the deck on on the skirt sides. So the slide-in camper will be sold and a Jeep will travel in front of the 5er plate by 50".

@Jack Mayer would know this answer; master bed builder. Thanks in advance.

How do I figure the safe distance from the King Pin of the RV to clear a Jeep on the deck of the HDT. The Jeep (2 Door) is 13' 10" not purchased interested in other vehicle recommendations that would work not longer than a Jeep.
Hope to see some of you at the National Rally with this completed, including ramps.

Good point ddm, where do I purchase the SS pipe? Is it harder to work with. I purchased this pipe in picture from NAPA years ago in a 10' section. Thanks for your suggestions.

I have been using this exhaust flex piping and not happy with how quickly it will rust out. Mine is not the high end stainless. Can I coat my new piece with some material to make it last longer? Maybe even high temp Black paint. Anyone got any great ideas. My pipe lasted about 4 to 5 years. At least I keep this spare pipe over the years. Location from the muffler to hard pipe about 32".

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a Trailer Saver hitch just debating between the TS3 and TSLB. The TSLB gives me more room for growth in the future but not sure I need it. The TS3 mounts differently on rails as I understand reading about it. So each product will require me to mount a metal plate between my frame rails and then mount the rails to the plate. Do I have the process correct?
All of the height requirements need to be carefully thought out in order to get the plate to the correct height. I think this target height is 48" please confirm. Goal is to get the 5er level or noise down slightly so it has a bit more pin weight. My pin weight will be 2200 lbs. My Brinkley comes out of production mid March.
-
Looks like Trailer Saver TSLB is the correct product for my RV. Thanks All.
-
Rich, cannot use an air ride hitch with the low pin weight of 2200 lbs. Henry with ET does not recommend his product or other type hitches. So I will go with the Pinbox that will give flex or cushion. Maybe GenY….

I am having Volvo Denver dealer install and program a new ECM. Old ECM had an internal failure so bad it could NOT be reflashed. I should be back on the road by Wednesday. And yes this will be expensive.
-
Adding a standard pickup 5th wheel hitch to my Volvo 670. Cannot use the ET Hitch because my pin weight is only 2200 lbs. Henry with ET Hitch tells me to look for a Pinbox that has cushion or dampening built in to protect the RV. Will the GenY hitch do this? Who else makes a good Pinbox?

Bonus Points: Which hitch should I mount on the semi?
