  1. Call Neal Denison at Near North brokers. We use them for all our commercial goods and they can look after the import for you.

They will tell you exactly what you need.
    https://www.borderdocs.com/brokers/brokerprofile?brokerID=3706

I know right now the border is an issue to go get it and carry back.

If you can wait until the border opens, then ship to a freight location on US side and with the hand carry docs from broker you cruise right through.

Might just be HST and no duty depending on commodity. Made in USA  will help.
    Neal will advise.

They have a driver in here in Sault Ste. Marie that goes over daily to carry goods across while we can’t. Get extra fee is $30 to $60 for that.

The actual customs brokerage is not bad at all. They will give you a quote.

For Sault Ste Marie, your settings should be:

    Elevation:  26.7°

    Azimuth (true):  223.6°

    Azimuth (magn.):  231.1°

    Dish Skew:  118.4°

And make sure your mounting post is dead level. Cover the two outer LNB's with foil and peak on the 119 sat on the center LNB. When aiming the azimuth, use the side plates of the mount for your sight line, not the LNB arm. With 119 peaked, 110 and 129 should lock in when the foil's removed with signals that may be improved some using only the elevation to fine tune them. Do not mess with the skew once it's set using the triangle pointer.

Thanks I’ll give that a go!

I've dialed in all three WA sats from NY's northern border where the elevation is 22 degrees with signal levels in the 50+ range. The farthest northern point in the UP without getting your feet wet has a 27.7 degree elevation for the WA, so 129 should be pretty easy to hit from there as well unless obstructions are in the way.

Thanks.  It’s really bugging me I can’t seem to get this in. I have elev avail to adjust it gets signal.
It’s not skewed very much. I tried to do more but loose other sats.

    I’m sure it’s me the rookie. 🤦‍♂️

  4. We run a Hopper on Dish with traveler and Dph42. in RV. All good parked here.

Moved into house and set up and aimed manual dish first time.

Set up in house for summer and can’t get thru trees for EA but good sky to WA.
I bought proper WA Dish with Hybrid three LNBs. Mounted on house.

110, 119, 129 signal is tad low. 45 and down to 35 some times on all three. tried for higher but had to balance

We are located in UP Michigan Sault Ste Marie

All programming comes in and guide builds. Locals come in good.
Have 110 and 119 with green on diagnostics page other is redX. All three show locked.

Issue is several channels only come in SD  like NBCSN and a Fox sports ESPN, HGTV  and more

Locals are in SD because we are on WA  HD on locals are on EA   We did get all programming In HD except locals on the traveler. Signal was around the same.

is there a certain sat I should focus on to get these in HD? It’s a battle to get more signal on one and not loose on others

  5. Hey Jim

Tranny power supply. Runs from battery to ECU on tranny. Common issue on old A/S.

I had issues years ago ended up being the XY shifter and Eaton suggested changing the power supply as well. No more issues again.

Good thing is you know how to pull the floor panel up to get access.

Both easy change.  Go for it. Power supply wasn’t much and XY was a Reman with core was not terrible.

Haven’t sold yet.  I did have someone that wanted to see my truck when I got back from Tennessee.  I should let him know I’m home but I really don’t want to meet with anyone yet.  Would love to meet up at Bill and Joan’s and carry on to the national park.

    Nigel

We would love to have you guys too Nigel! Looking fwd to things getting better. Hoping everyone stays safe.

If Dish buys out DirecTV will I have to convert my roof top Travler from DirecTV to Dish. I was thinking of  changing to Dish but may wait now. If I do not have to buy a conversion kit I can save $300 in parts and $200 in labor.

Easy to do. Took me 45 min. To convert a friends.

  10. We used FJ pilot 100% for years with the FJ rv card. Was good until TSD. We carry both but use TSD.

$.08 cents off at FJ or....last fill it was $1.00 per gal at Loves with TSD. No brainer for me. Have found them to be clean and same as most FJ. Heck, saw some crappy FJ. Don’t really care. Im buying fuel.

We plan our fuel stops well in advance and pick state and stop with best price  Carry 200 gal in an HDT

But hey, each to their own.

I'm not of the opinion that the campground owner should absorb all the losses associated with this crisis. I imagine many of them are dealing with wholesale cancellations and struggling just to survive. After all, they're people too. I was happy to pay a fee to cancel a campground in all this and pleased to not owe the entire amount, which is actually their policy normally. Jay

    Very good outlook Jay.

Everyone wants these folks and place to be there next time when they want to return.

  12. Regarding your original question converting the traveler over to Dish

I did one for a friend recently, just called Winegard sales and they walked me thru the steps in the control box to gather info they needed to be sure to order the right kit and it was comparable to work with Dish.

The conversion was easy and took about 40 min.
