  1. I'm in the parking lot of the Shell station in Gila Bend AZ. It's 3:30 PM and 78 degrees. A little warmer than I'm use to but not bad and it's free. So far the nearest truck is about 110 yards away. Three other RV's share this end of the lot and the nearest one is about 100 feet from me. There is a SubWay sandwich place here but no restaurant unless you want to unhook and drive into town. It's only about 200 mile on into the Slabs. I should be there fairly early tomorrow. Have fun kids, Don't fight and Eat your vegetables.

Can I throw some of my veggies at my 6AM door slamming neighbor????

  2. Seems like I've been busy all day but don't remember what I did. That couldn't be a sign of old age could it? I did go get some groceries and take a walk but that is all I can remember. One of my cowgirls brought me some homemade soup without much salt in it. Boy was it good. The only salt in it was a can of low sodium chicken broth. I better watch out. She might be setting me up and try to open my heart.

Boy that sounds like a full day to us.

  3. Well, we ran Joe off. We ran Carol and Steve off and we also ran off Toni and Doug. However, guess who we're going to be meeting up with on Friday? Mary Jane Finley? Remember her? We're excited. The last time we saw her and Lee was in Florida.

That is awesome - been following her adventures for the last few months - tell her hello from us - and look forward to seeing her and u of course at Q

  4. Eric don't worry about posting here cause it's the 08/09 group with us others mixed in. Going to Bushnell for a few weeks tomorrow. While there I'm flying back to Denver to see my Dad and the youngest daughter and her family for a week. On our way to Key west we'll stop by.

Roger and Dave it's hot here. Near 90 today cooling a little on Sunday to upper 70's then back to the 80's. The AC is getting a workout. Heading to the flea market and antiquing today. Come on down.

We met with new friends from the tour yesterday at Ft. Wilderness (Disney World) the place was Halloween Crazy. Most RV's and golf carts decorated way over the top. Wondering how they carried all that stuff.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!

    Jeff

AH Jeff - too funny that you did the Disney RV tour - we have friends from Tampa that bought a big class A - only place they have ever camp is at Fort Wilderness and they always go for the holidays - she has large bins for each holiday and of course a huge attic in her sticks and bricks to store them in !!! I am sure they were one of the RV's with the most lights!!!

  5. Had a great evening campfire with Tom, Dianne, Dave, Nancy and Carolie. They were camped on BLM land, west of Moab, overlooking this beautiful valley and we watched the sunset with snacks and a bottle of bubbly! Couldn't have been better, except we could have been camped there too. We were about 27 miles away, and I thought the wolves were going to get us before we made it out of there. They are going to move closer to where we are the end of the week getting ready for the big folk music festival coming up. Sure is nice being part of this "classless class"! Now to find the coffee.... B) Steve

Bottle of Bubbly and great friends - wish we were there - maybe a bubbly campfire in Q this winter!!

  6. Good to hear. Our DD, SIL and family live in Loveland. We haven't called them yet. We got rain last night and more today in Naples, Me. It was already wet here. Later.

    Jeff

PS. Say Hi to Julie and Mike for us.

Hi back to you Jeff and Tina,

If ya gotta sit out a rainy, flooding time - this is a good spot , up on the ridge above a lake that needs the water and even better that Steve and Carol are our neighbors to hang with - Just wish we could have a campfire!

pretty sad for those just south of us.and up in the canyons. My niece teaches in Loveland and they sent the kids home early due to flooding.

  7. I discovered Mobile Banking.....download the app for Wells Fargo and all you need to do is take a picture of the front then the back of the check and send. I love it. Limit of $1,000 a day deposit so if any of them are over that amount you have to go to the bank anyway. But Mobile banking is great!

Agree - we use mobile banking too. No need to go to the bank - our bank via Schwab does not limit the amount - they just hold for 3 days to make sure it gets processed.

  8. Yipee! No more Deer Damage on our rig. KZ did a wonderful job - took all week but paint match was amazing and they added a rock guard coat to the lower front area - should help stop chips. We will now head up to Michigan and then just do not know!!!

Well - Estes Park Co in early Sept for the Celtic Festival and then the balloon Festival in early Oct.

  9. Well, I made a little more progress on the bus maintenance today. I went to OKC and got the front end aligned. This is the first time I've ever had that done and it was prompted by the tire wear on my right front. The bus drove fine, but the tire was in bad shape. Now that I got the two front tires replaced Monday, I wanted to make sure I didn't ruin them. It turned out it was quite a bit out of alignment, and they were able to get it back in good shape. Took quite a while to find these guys, but I talked with the owner, and he has had a number of motorhomes, so that's why his shop wanted to provide that service. Only one in OKC that will align independent front end equipped motor homes. Then after that we went to Speedco and had the oil, filter, lube, fuel filters changed and antifreeze sca's (supplemental coolant additives) added. We then came back home, or we brought home back to the park, or however you're supposed to say that, and filled up with diesel on the way. $3.49 today, so I finally caved and filled up (110 gallons). Additionally I found out that the shop that I got the alignment at will do shock installations on the IFS, so I think I will order them and have that done while we're here. Original shocks, so they are probably getting weak with 72,000 miles on them. I looked on the Tiffin forum, and no-one seems to like these Saches shocks and some of them are replacing them at 10 or 15 thousand miles. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but the bus never seemed like it had shock control issues, and they aren't leaking. Now that I found someone that can do it (most won't on the IFS), I think I'll do it and at least I'll know I've got good shocks. I looked at a test of the major brands of MH shocks, and Bilsteins were rated the best for the money, but they don't make a shock for the front of mine. Koni makes them and they are rated really good, so I guess I'll bite the bullet and try them out. After all this I'll have to rob IYQ's cranberry juice supply cause I won't have a plugged nickel left for any of that stuff. Hmmmm maybe sell the ice cream machine ....................................NO WAY  Steve

Two guy posts almost back to back!!! Yikes - that alot of work all at once!!!

  10. Likely in Arizona at some point this winter - also would like to spend some time in Texas - I like the Parker area idea - best thing about Q over sidewinder is plenty of choices to park and not get stuck in the sand. Also - great point was made about picking up newbies!!!

Other news - IYQ - you set a the bar very high on the new truck front!!! We are now the owners of a 2013 chevy 4/x4 dually - loving it - had it for two weeks now.

Plus even more news - we finallyy left the Omaha area and headed to Hannibal Mo - managed to meet up with Jeff and Tina tonight - fun happy hour and hopefully a fun day tomorrow as well!

DI - we are likely too far south to catch you on the trip back to Wyoming - but keep us posted if you take a more southern route.

  11. Glyn has to stay and work the campground here in WY and I will be driving by myself. I will be in a bit of a hurry this week but will have more time to stop and visit on my way back to WY from Ohio. My return will be closer to the 15 or 16 of June if you are still in that area as it is very close to interstate 80/74 which is my route this time. Also, I will be in a very maneuverable little car so I can go anywhere quickly:-) If anyone else is along interstate 80 between Quads and Rock Springs, WY the middle of June my plans are open for side trips to visit, (especially if you know of a good ice cream stop). Love chatting here and knowing there are like minded people out there along our travels.

Hey Di - know you are in a hurry this week - but honk and wave as you pass by Omaha - or if you have time to stop and eat we could meet you.

Plus on your return trip - check the map - we may be close to your route. Think next week we will head to Hannibal Mo to explore some Mark Twain territory - if Mike can get me away from the Grand daughter!

  12. Lee,

Sorry to hear about your accident - grateful you are not hurt.

We have loved our Chevy truck - which has the heated seats - would never be without it again!!! Plus the exhaust brake is worth the $$$.

We are actally thinking about a new truck too - but not because of an accident - Mike is really wanting 4x4 and the Alison is now a 6 speed.

Glyn - Stop using those 4 letter words - have a safe trip to Wy. !!

We are headed to Omaha for a Granddaughter fix - then ????

  13. Hi All,

Glad to see y'all who have headed North made it safely - those who are still heading to summer areas - this is wishing you light tail winds.

Mike and I had a great 10 visit with Dave and Nancy. Stayed in Cottonwood AZ - hiking, shopping, drinking - tell stories - talking about all of you!!!

We have now started our move to Denver with a short stop here in New Mexico.

  14. Steve44

We are planning to be in OKC March 27. Is there a Casino between there and Ft. Smith? Any good place to over night is what we are looking for. If you are close by, maybe we can meet!!!

    thank you

    PM or e-mail

    glyn

Di and Pa - you will like the Casino at Fire Lake - even has a soft serve Ice Cream Machine. - Free for 3 nights

  15. Roger and Lynn,

We'll be at Cherry Creek SP starting 4/22 for 2 weeks in the Gold Rush Loop. Leaving the morning of 5/6 moving up to Boyd Lake SP through 5/14. See y'all there. Safe travels. Later.

    Tina and Jeff

Looks like we will be in the Denver area in May Too - look forward to seeing everyone while we are all in the area.

Plan arrive in Denver by mid April and then fly to Florida for Mike to have eye surgery - back into Denver on April 30th and will stay in the area for first few weeks of May.

  16. OK, got a question. What is the best time if year, and why, to visit the Grand Canyon?

I'm asking for a retired friend, so travel is not restricted to any particular time frame.

    Joe

We have gone in summer and spring - best part about spring is fewer people. We like that they have closed off part of the road and you have to take shuttle buses to the over looks - you can hop off the bus and hike the rim to the next overlook (distance varies) It really gives you a chance to be alone ( well mostly) along the rim.

Lastly - the North Rim is very different from the south rim - not as crowded - but is closed in Winter - usually mid May before it opens - also - not many places to stay so have to plan ahead to visit the north rim.

  17. We seem to be stuck in Q - and that is all Good - Well - sort of :

Mike ordered a computer and when it arrived it did not work - so now we are waiting on a replacement. Then I planned a trip to Florida using air miles - by the time I arranged the eye Dr appt for Mike === the price of tickets for flying went up $200 each plus all our miles- Good thing we plan in jello - now we will hang in Arizona til April then onto Denver- and will fly to Florida for Mike's eye surgery from there.

Pa and Di showed up after the boot camp which of course leads to more campfires, food and stories!!!

Plus we drove to Yuma and saw Freddie and Dulcie - fun time in Mexico and at the casino!!

  19. i just want to know how many glasses of cranberry juice were had before you all came up with the name!

we're loving the Keys but missing all of you!

Actually I think it was a combo of Cranberry juice, that Mexican mix the big "M" you love so much and of course Beer and other assorted liquids!!!!

Many names where mentioned but some said they could not move to something called the "classy class " since they no class and so the name was born or is that hatched.

    We miss you guys too!!!

  20. GREAT IDEA - has anyone thought to email the rest of the former "class" so they know where we have gone.

I like this idea as well - and look forward to meeting other " new to the road " people over the next few years!!!

I am posting a note on the class of 08-09 thread to let others know to come over to the new thread
