  1. Howdy All, Later this morning we will be leaving from Maurice and Ginny's home and headed east, we'll do a Walmart camp in Lexington Nebraska to night and should arrive at the camp ground near Hannibal Missouri near the Mark Twain Cave on Tuesday late afternoon. Dave, Donna and Newt
  2. Howdy Kevin, I figure we will come out about even after I give Maurice the bill for recommending his place as a must do when it comes to visiting. Dave
  3. Howdy Alie and Jim, I sure will pass on your greetings, so peaceful here and bueatiful. Dave, Donna and Newt
  4. Howdy All, We are now spending time with Maurice and Ginny who live just out side of Yampa Colorado. We will be leaving from here Monday morning and headed east. Maurice and Ginny have been great hosts we sure are enjoying our visit with our HDT friends. Here we are parked in a spot with water and power next to Maurice's shop. Here is Maurice and Ginny's rig which is now for sale, it is a beautiful turn key setup and in my opinion is priced way below value. Dave, Donna and Newt
  5. Howdy Ken, Good morning to you, I was going to mention you and your rig but I forgot your name, sorry I honestly don't have much for a memory anymore. I visited a bit with Ken, man talk about a nice setup his truck and trailer are the real deal. Dave
  6. Howdy Sculptor, Thanks, the Peterbilt sure does get the attention of other campers. When I towed with the Freightliner, folks would stop and look as they walked around the campground but now that I am using the Pete, people will come over to our site and ask the usual questions and always comment on how they like the truck. In nearly 5 years of towing with the Freightliner, I only had a couple of Truckers call me on the CB, now towing with the Pete, it’s a common thing at least a couple of times a day. Dave
  7. Howdy All, Our camp site, such a beautiful park, with large sites and very quiet. "Jim & Mary's", a few miles northwest of Missoula MT. Dave, Donna and Newt
  8. Howdy DM, When I first started to camp at Walmart, I didn't however I noticed many people doing it when the temps where high so I have for the last couple of years run it when needed which has been very few times. When I do Walmart camp I am as far away from the store as possible and when I can pick a spot on the very edge of the lot, I have never had anyone complain. Dave
  9. Howdy DM If you’re referring to my post depending on what the temperature is we usually don’t bother with AC if it’s hot enough to need it we have a generator Dave
  10. Howdy All We pulled into a very nice camp ground yesterday Jim & Mary’s, a few west of Missoula MT, on the north side of I-90 There plenty of room for our type rig in fact there is another couple here towing with a newer Volvo There is no pool but there is a very quiet and buetifully landscaped camp ground with flower beds everywhere lots of trees for shade but plenty of room to maneuver to get into and out of your camp site We really like this campground and will return Tomorrow we head to Logan Utah do a Walmart camp there before going to Colorado to visit with Maurice and Ginny Dave, Donna and Newt
  11. Howdy All, In an hour or so Donna and I will start our summer trip, leaving from home in Washington State will be going as far east as Mark Twain Caves in Missouri, then dropping down into Arkansas, then west through the southwestern States before heading back up to the Nor-Wet. I'll pop in now and then to see where other folks are perhaps our trails will cross that of others while on this trip that would be fun. Dave, Donna and Newt
  12. Howdy Jack, I am now using the through the wheel type of tie down when carrying the Smart in the toy hauler, I am ready to buy the nessisary parts to tie down the Smart on a truck bed, do you have any photos of the through the wheel tie downs being use to secure a Smart to a truck bed, maybe I can save some money using what I already have. Thanks. Dave
  13. Howdy Bill, Thanks, for the clarification. Dave
  14. Howdy Bill, I can only see 2" and 4" strap winches listed at US Cargo control, did you find 3" winches or do you use another method of tightening the straps? Dav e
  15. Howdy hone eagal, Thanks for the company name, found them on the web I'll call them Monday. What width of strap do you use, when using the over the wheel straps? Dav e
  16. Howdy All, In my Toy Hauler the way the D rings are located I couldn't use the baskets if I wanted to, or the straps that go over the tires, by far the easiest way for me is to use strap through the wheels. That said, I will be using the strap winches and the straps that go OVER the tire with the little rubber blocks on them to tie down the Smart Car when I load behind the sleeper on the Pete. A question for those of you who use the straps that go over the tires, where did you get them and did they come with short straps the only ones I have seen come with straps over 12 feet long, lot of wasted strap that has to be cut off and paid for when you buy the setup. Dave
  17. Howdy When I tie the Smart Car down in my toy hauler, I just use tie down straps that go through the wheel and then clip to the rings in the toy hauler floor. Been doing it this way for the last two years, 30,000 miles with no problems. I am really looking forward to getting the deck built on the back of the Pete, so I can carry the Smart Car on the truck and get the full use of my toy hauler garage again. Dave
