  1. Howdy Rocky, I don't hardly ever travel east of the Mississippi River, so most of the truck shops I have heard of would be way off from my usual travels, going to the National HDT Rally, is about as far east as I care to travel. By "Phil country" I am assuming you mean Texas, I have and will be doing some wandering in Texas in the future could you give some more information on the shop your talking about, thanks. Dave
  2. Howdy Ricky, I really don't like the seats that are in the truck, they don't have any armrests and they don't till back as far as I would like them to, and they sit to high. From the quotes I have gotten locally by the time these issues were addressed I could buy new seats. Dave
  3. Howdy Bob, There are a few, but so far away 800-1,000 miles its not worth the fuel to go there. Dave
  4. Howdy Jon, There really isn't much to look at locally, I am pretty much stuck with ordering something and hoping for the best. My seats look good but the bottom cushion in just wore out, wouldn't take much to be an improvement. My truck has 1.6 million miles on it probably the original seats. Dave
  5. Howdy Ricky, Both you and DesertMiner have missed your calling, should have been comedians. 😁 My "base" isn't that wide, in fact I wish I could move some fat from my belly and transfer to me arse so the bones didn't protrude that would make sitting down on hard chairs and driving long distances much easier. Now that I have new knees maybe I should look into big butt injections.😮 Dave
  6. Howdy DesertMiner, I will be doing a lot of measuring BEFORE I order seats. Dave
  7. Howdy All, I talked to Dave, at Seating Specialties, he suggested this seat with the low mount, NO adapter needed, $2,000 out the door to ship a pair of these to me. click this link, https://www.seat-specialists.com/products/prime-seating-300c.html Seems like a lot of seat for the money from the research I have done, they make a heated version with adjustable shock for a bout a hundred bucks more. Thinking real hard about these seats. Has anyone had any experience with this brand of seat? Dave
  8. Howdy Bob, I won't buy a seat unless I can sit in it or one like the one I would be ordering, way to much money to take a chance on for me. Problem is there just isn't much to look at around my area. Dave
  9. Howdy Dan, Thanks for the tip, I know where Motor Truck, is located in Everett, are you talking about the Kenworth shop behind Donna's truck stop west side of I-5, north end of Marysville? Dave
  10. Howdy Porky69, Your right about the after market truck seat prices, I have been looking for the last two weeks in every truck shop catalog that sells custom parts and seats start at $500 for the cheap stuff, $1,000 is about the bottom for what I think would be a good seat, if you want, heat-massage, leather and all the other bells and whistles you can easily spend close to $4,000 for a seat. Dave
  11. Howdy Jim, Those are some nice seats, but the description says that they are 13 inches high from the floor to the top of the cushion, by the time they were somehow mounted on a air-low seat mount they would be much higher then what I now have in the truck. Thanks for your post and the idea. Dave
  12. Howdy Jon, Thanks for the offer if I lived 1,500 miles closer I just might take you up on it but the fuel cost would be a deal killer I am not driving a Slippery truck. 😀 Dave
  13. Howdy Jon, Those are some nice looking seats. My local Peterbilt dealer is about worthless carries next to nothing other then what is needed for the simplest maintenance. I did stop in at the local Freightliner shop today and they have a very nice selection of National brand seats, one called the Commodore has just about every type of adjustment you could ask for on a seat about 1,000 dollars per seat with out shipping. I asked if they could give me an out the door price a pair with the low seat brackets and any adapters that might be needed to install them in the Pete, I will make darn sure I am sitting down before he gives me the price. Dave
  14. Howdy porky69, Thanks for your detailed post, I really appreciate it. I am 6 foot even so when sitting at a stop light if there is the slightest down grade I have to bend over to see under the sun visor which is in the PERFECT location for anything other then seeing things like traffic lights on a down slope. If I could drop the seat three inches and still have a air shock cushioning the road bumps I would be a very happy camper. So from what I have read having the low mounts aired about half way up would put me right about where I would like to be. Dave
  15. Howdy Star Dreamer, Thanks for the information I can pretty well envision what you did. I'll take some measurements and then see if I can find anything that might work. The 379 has a smaller cab area then what you had to work with so doing as you have done may not work in my case but I can see where you have some nice seats at an extremely good price with a bit of labor to make them work in your application. Dave
  16. Howdy Star Dreamer, Those are some nice looking seats. I never though of mounting another seat to the truck mount, did you take any photos of how you did this? Dave
  17. Howdy Geodog, Thanks, sorry for the thread drift. Dave
  18. Howdy Brad, For the uninitiated, what is the RGV? Dave
  19. Howdy Brad, I am getting better, taking fewer pain pills, driving Donna's car which has an auto trans, and our old winter beater a Kia Sportage which has a stick trans. We have been blessed with an unusually dry and at times sunny fall rather then the usually pouring down rain and gloom that my particular area is noted for so my SAD ( Seasonal Affective Disorder ) which is normally in full bloom by this time of year has been somewhat abated. Being able to ESCAPE from here last year was wonderful and I am so looking forward to doing it again in January. Dave
  20. Howdy DesertMiner, Your 100% right, just hard to do where I live. Dave
  21. Howdy Kevin, Not knowing anything about seats and not living where such things are easily available this is a big step for my old well new knees. Dave
  22. Howdy Star Dreamer, Can you post some photos of these seats, where did you get them? Dave
  23. Howdy Darryl, My seats need some work, I checked with a couple of local uppostlery (sp) shops and for the price they wanted to redo the seats I could buy brand new ones with more stuff like arm rests. There aren't any big truck junk yards around so its either buy new, live with what I have or spend more then I will to have them redone. Dave
