  1. Yes, Toni... it is pretty amazing! First, Denise and a couple of her friends came driving up this afternoon... looked around the area for our rig and car, and found us. Then, your friend Karen came with Shoko. Later, we took a drive to visit each camp. We can see Denise's rig about 1/2 mile across the desert from our home. Her friends, Jean and Skip are parked near her. Then we went to visit Karen and Bob... so nice. They are just over the hill from us at Pegleg. And the gathering grew... Shoko and Bob, Macy and Dave, Penny and Paul (hope I got all the names right???) All SKPs, and all Canadians! Hey, what's the deal... didn't meet a single American today :) We will be getting together soon with the Pegleg group, and invite Denise, Jean and Skip. So happy to meet all our new Canadian friends. And, we learned a new expression today... SHACK-WACKEY. Way cool :)

  2. Freddy, PLEASE be careful (Delcie, too)! So much partying we want to do with you next month! You remember when we were parked behind you at Graham Creek, and I slipped down the steps our first morning there... we must ALL be more careful. We don't bounce back like we did when we were young :) Stay safe... everyone!

Well I didn't heed the good advice and got anotherr fall last nite, went down the steps and the welcome mat was solid ice, my feetwent up and I hit on my back in the snow. Luckyly it didn't hurt me, that is the third fall I have had since this storm started. I worry about Delcie but she has done real good so far.
We will go to Yuma after Q for a while, then to Parker or somewhere with water, can't let Terry and Jeri have all the fun with Kayak's.
    LIFE IS GOOD!!!

  3. Reporting in about Lee...

We drove to Slab City today, and had a great visit with Lee... he is much improved! We know those ribs are still sore... wouldn't want to make him laugh to hard, but glad he if feeling better!

Lee gave us a tour of the Slabs... the LOW's slab there is a nice, comfortable group of buildings, convenient to RVers parked around it. Of course, we saw some "interesting" other slabs and homes, but the area where Lee lives seems a nice community. Thanks, again, Lee! We hope to soon hear that you have slept in your bed instead of that lawn chair :)

No more accidents, ANYONE! See you all next month!

  4. You forgot a lot of people ...

Jeri... didn't mean to hurt your feelings... that's why the last line to everyone :) But some specific notes to injured Lee, and a few we had not been in touch with or heard from for awhile. We do follow along with your blog, as well as many others, and love staying connected in this rv "family" you so warmly welcomed us in nearly a year ago! We look forward to time with you and Terry plus others we know and some we have not yet met. Will be a fun time in Q! Hugs, D & T

  5. Hello, all! We are doing well in the desert of Borrego Springs, CA. No complaints about the weather... 47 degrees this morning. Chance of rain. Beautiful lighting on the desert floor and mountains with the sun/clouds.

Lee - Hope you got some rest last night. Not yet sure of our schedule this next week, but will be in touch before we come down to see what you might need and make a plan. Love the way this "family" is there for each other!

Denise - Look forward to a visit if you come this way!

Tina & Jeff - We enjoy following along with your blog, though can't seem to post comments. Know that we remain connected, and look forward to catching up with you both, and Lynn and Roger, again next year!

Delcie and Freddy... have been thinking of you and hope you are both doing ok out there on your gate guard job. Stay warm and well... looking forward to time together next month!

Diane & Glyn... just let us know when and where. Besides looking forward to time together, we have a list of questions :)

Actually, to all of you... we send our best and look forward to time together in Q. Be safe and well! Dianne & Tom

  6. Good folks, you guys be, Tom & Dianne. Give our best to Southern California... Salton Sea... and hopefully Sunshine & warm.

    Jim & Alice

Hey, fun to see you following along here! Wish you could join us in Quartzsite next month and meet more of these good folks, but welcoming that new granddaughter trumps the Classless Class :) Look forward to catching up with each other once you are out on the road again. Hugs and best wishes to you both, D & T

  7. Ok, Lee... glad to know that friends there are taking good care of you. But, should you decide you need a helping hand, for any reason at all, just call out and we'll be there! Will let you know when we will be coming your way playing tourists. In the meantime, rest and get well. And just remember, we are available if you need anything at all!

  8. Lee... we are SO sorry to learn of your injury! We are just a couple of hours away from you here in Borrego Springs... can we be of help? We were thinking to take a drive next week some time, explore Salton Sea, and were planning to contact you and stop in for a visit. We could come sooner if you need us... bring you anything, do any chores for you? Please let us know if you need anything at all! Take care, Dianne & Tom

The day before yesterday I sat in my secretaries chair and something broke and allowed the chair to tip forward on it's pedestal dumping me out and shooting the chair back. I fell backwards on something hitting my rib cage. Other than the first blast it didn't hurt much right away but getting worse through the evening. But when I tried to go to bed hell broke loose as I tried to lay down. I drove myself into Brawley to the emergency room because I was afraid I had busted a rib. And if I tried to set up the rest of the night. I might fall to sleep, fall out of the chair and brake something else. At 6 AM they finally said nothing was broken just badly bruised. I came home and when the pharmacy opened I had some friends take me back to get the prescription filled. I got my outside folding chair inside and fell to sleep in that. Between muscle spasms and sharp pains I didn't' get much but i did get some. The pain meds didn't help much and i'm still having spasms every time I move wrong. I think I need about 10 gallons of Joe's Baaaadddddddd whiskey.

  9. Greetings, all! Was great fun to have dinner and a visit with Sandi and Jim while in the Phoenix area for a few days! Got our "big city" errands taken care of, and now on to Quartzsite for a few days before Borrego Springs through the end of the year.

Denise... Hear you are in Q... would enjoy meeting up for a visit... heading there today, so let us know if something might work in your schedule Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, please :)

And, thanks to Carol for the great new photo! I have posted on our blog about it, but wanted to give her credit here, also. She is good!

Fun to see everyone migrating south... looking forward to lots of good visits! See you all in Q!

    Dianne & Tom

  10. So great to have you both join us last evening! A special time, to be sure! And, we were relieved when Carol emailed the photos so we knew you had made it out alive :) D & T

quote name="Steved44" post="651751" timestamp="1382544900"]Had a great evening campfire with Tom, Dianne, Dave, Nancy and Carolie. They were camped on BLM land, west of Moab, overlooking this beautiful valley and we watched the sunset with snacks and a bottle of bubbly! Couldn't have been better, except we could have been camped there too. We were about 27 miles away, and I thought the wolves were going to get us before we made it out of there. They are going to move closer to where we are the end of the week getting ready for the big folk music festival coming up. Sure is nice being part of this "classless class"! Now to find the coffee.... B) Steve

  11. Hmmmmm... we'll be back! :D

And a great couple of meetings they were, and highly classified I might add. It was great to finally meet Tom and Diane, and to catch up with Dave & Nancy again. The six of us had fun telling stories during the happy hour that Tom & Diane hosted at their rig. We then went to the Moab Brewery for dinner and continued the meeting there. What a neat lifestyle this is being able to connect with so many fine people. They are all leaving Moab tomorrow, but I left a bottle of "cranberry juice" stashed in their rig, so they are going to have to come back here, in a week (just want to make sure it's properly aged) and polish it off. Hmmmm they'd better come back Hmmmmm they will won't they?? Hmmmmm :o

  12. What nasty, nasty weather we've been having. I could swear it's November and not the end of September. It's rained and rained and the wind is howling! We just finished putting new replacement fabric on our awning and now we can't use it for fear the winds will carry it away! We have discovered something else. Our solar panels don't charge the batteries very much when the sun isn't shining.

Oh, how I thought of you this afternoon when the wind came up! Decided I could put the awning in by myself while Tom was way out across a ravine. Well, one end in, and the other end a flapping sail! But, I got it secured, with no damage, and when he got back and my heart rate settled, we got it all taken care of. No harm; no foul. Will make sure the awning is in BEFORE he goes wandering off next time. The lessons continue... :)

  13. Hello classless friends :)

Just added a post to our blog so wanted to let those of you we aren't in touch with except thru the forum know about it. Check it out, please, at www.tdhomestead.blogspot.com

We enjoy keeping up with everyone. Wishing each a great fall. Travel safely! D & T

  14. Will try to get a quick note out while we have a connection this morning. Hello, and best wishes to all!

To the Weavers... we are so sorry that we didn't look at the map a few days back... went right through Monticello! Would have been nice to meet. We are near Natural Bridges and headed to Capitol Reef tomorrow (Monday) for a week or so before going on to Moab. Your plans? Hope we can connect down the road. We are tdhomestead on the class map. Travel well!

    Dianne & Tom

  15. So glad we got to visit with you a bit last Wednesday at your site, and that we had lunch together Saturday! Wishing you both well as you head out for a well-deserved rest! Travel safely, and we'll look forward to time together again in January! D & T

We closed the campground yesterday, had a good summer but we are ready to move on. Leaving this morning for Cochiti Lake for a few days then to Texas for Dr. app. Plan to gate guard for three months. then to Az about the first of the year. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion wherever it is.

    LIFE IS GOOD!!!

  16. Hello all... well, today we "bought some sense." Buying sense is when you pay for a lesson, and we got one today! After Jeri and Terry driving off with their cords still attached, Lynn and Roger denting the top of their Airstream, Delcie and Freddy needing repairs for 5th wheel hitch drop, and Tina and Jeff buying replacement passports... today was our turn!

Picked up our mail in the little town of Lake George, Colorado and found a notice that our insurance had lapsed! Apparently, we missed a renewal notice??? And, today we are six days late for reinstatement!!! Miller Insurance out of Oregon was great about it... said DON'T DRIVE ANYWHERE, and jumped right on it this afternoon. Will cost us a lot more than it should, since we now need a new policy rather than a renewal... ouch! So, paid the yearly premiums for the car and motorhome over the phone via our VISA card, they are e-mailing us proof of insurance cards today, so it looks like it will all turn out ok. My stomach is churning and I am angry at myself for not noticing that it was time to pay premiums last month! Dang, guess we were having too much fun to stay on top of things. So, learn from us... know when your insurance is due and don't let it lapse. Costly mistake... but in the grand scheme of things, we are well and life is good! Dianne & Tom

  17. And, we so look forward to seeing you both again in September as we stop in before we begin slowly making our way west. We keep thinking about the kayak thing??? Glad you got yours... we'll see. D.

I forgot to mention that Tom and Dianne spent a month with us and Dave and Nancy are here now and leaving this morning after two weeks. We have sure enjoyed having friends here. If anyone is close give us a call or come and stay in the campground with us.

    LIFE IS GOOD!!

  18. Hello all! We are still in Colorado and will be here into early September. Getting our "Colorado fix" this summer, as we don't think we will come back this way next year... too much we want to see and do out west after Q. Who knows. So, after a busy couple of months, we are enjoying quiet time in the mountains (8900 elevation here, Lee). Hot sun; always cool in the shade. We have had some nice rain recently, and everything is fresh and green. Cell/internet has been weak but we have often read forum posts... service often too weak to reply, but we enjoy hearing about everyone and staying connected. When we were in town last week, we added to our blog... thanks to those who commented... to others that might want to take a peak, check out www.tdhomestead.blogspot.com. Jeri... our suggestion is forget the word "diet" and think LIFESTYLE. Eat real food... nothing packaged or processed. That's the best advice we ever had, and what a difference it has made for us both. Here's to good health for all! Best wishes, everyone! Dianne & Tom

  19. Hello all... figured we'd jump in here, and touch bases, also. After six+ weeks near Bayfield, CO we are headed to Pagosa Springs tomorrow and then on to South Fork for a family camping weekend with all our kids, except one, plus spouses and grandkids. A fun gathering, to be sure!

Then, it's OUR TIME!For the month of August, we will move around Southern Colorado attending a number of gem & mineral shows, hanging out and exploring. As much as we love our family, we are really looking forward to this time without obligations... just play time! Labor Day Weekend we will attend a folk music festival in Pagosa Springs, and then begin slowly making our way west... VERY SLOWLY.

It's been a great time with Delcie and Freddy... good to have frequent visits, and fun to have a few times with Nancy and Dave since their arrival. Look forward to hearing from any of you that might be in the area during August... always good to reconnect, and to meet some of you we have only heard about.

Good to read everyone's updates... take care and stay safe!

    Hugs, Dianne & Tom

  20. Hello all! Fun to read the posts from everyone, and our internet seems to be much improved the past few days! Someone told us that a new tower was going up... guess they got it finished, as we are enjoying e-mail and finally reading your blogs again! Yippee! Sure makes it nicer to stay connected and in touch (and a lot less cussing when one of us sits down to do comething on the computer :)

We have just posted an update to our blog... lots of family photos so, for those of you that don't know these folks, may be b bit boring. Fire update, also. So, check it out at www.tdhomestead.blogspot.com Best wishes to all! Dianne & Tom

  21. Hello friends! We don't often seem to have adequate internet service where we are near Bayfield, CO but it's working at the moment so wanted to check in. We are well, it's beautiful here, and we are enjoying time with our son and his family nearby, as well as Delcie and Freddy. They are great campground hosts of these two campgrounds where we have been. This morning they came by in their little golf cart and dropped off some "goodies" for our grandsons... coloring books, pencils, stickers, etc. We enjoy the visits with them!

We don't get to check the blogs of those of you posting, or even read the forums... but, we do wish to keep in touch and look forward to seeing those of you gathering in January at Quartzsite or wherever. We'll follow you anywhere :)

Take care, everyone, and we'll be seeing you down the road. Best wishes! Dianne & Tom

  22. Greetings, all! It's good to be in the beautiful Colorado mountains again, and so nice to be here "next door" to Delcie and Freddy! Looking forward to the visits with them, plus our son, daughter-in-law, and two little grandsons across the reservoir about nine miles by car. Tom hasn't been fishing yet, but has a date tomorrow with grandson, Logan, turning seven!

Enjoyed our time in Albuquerque parked next door to Sandie and Jim for a couple of days, and with Nancy and Dave, also. We all had dinner together one night... fun to be together!

Well, heading out now to check out our new locale... beautiful, sunny day! Sending best wishes to all! Dianne & Tom

  23. Update, Info and comments... hello, friends! Some of you already know but for those who do not, we have created a blog! At the urging of some of you Q-folks, we finally pulled it together... sort of... I'm still learning. Anyway, you can find us at www.tdhomestead.blogspot.com

Lee - hope your truck situation is working out well! Tom says to tell you that the last new truck he purchased was a red GMC, so he approves and thinks it a good choice :)

Tina & Jeff - hope your daughter's wedding was a great family celebration!

Julie & Mike - hope the repair to your eyes has completely healed, Mike, and that your knee physical therapy has helped, Julie!

Everyone else... travel safely and enjoy this wonderful summer weather! Hugs, Dianne & Tom
