  1. Update on Lee: It is sad news. He has a brain tumor and believe this is probably what caused the symptoms of the stroke. Now they feel he may not have had a stroke at all as diagnosed by the doctors in New Mexico. However, they cannot operate. He can't speak and isn't eating. He was originally put in assisted living but is in the hospital now. He will be moved to hospice before long.

Sorry to hear about Lee... thank you for the update.

Will keep good thoughts for his peace and comfort!

    Dianne & Tom

  2. Hello all! We have just come out of the mountains of Southwest Colorado... lots of catching up to do after a week without cell or internet service. So sorry to learn of your loss, Sandie & Jim! Also, Lee, we are keeping good thoughts for you as you travel east and settle in at your new home!

We had a great time with Tina & Jeff boondocking with us in Bayfield and Alamosa, Colorado in June. Back in Bayfield again... Nancy & Dave will arrive on Wednesday to join us here. And, of course, time with family nearby is a bonus!

Best wishes to all as you travel, enjoy summer locations, stay safe from storms, get new trucks, etc.

Happy Independence Day! Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom

  3. I'm planning a trip to a very popular, historical and beautiful city that most people keep in their plans and I hate it. Charleston, SC. I'd prefer any boondock area. We pretty much figured out I'll be going to an assisted living near my niece. You better bet If I ever get rid of these seizures I'll be playing like an escape artest. I'll be staying here in Deming for about 3 more weeks while my nephew and niece take care of the business up in Iowa leaving me careed for by one of the Cowgirls.

Best wishes to you, Lee, as you begin another chapter in your adventures! We will keep good thoughts for you!

    Be well! Dianne & Tom

  4. Well, it finally happened. I've been "camping" for about 55 years And for the first time we had items stolen from our site (other than the beer that seems to disappear outta the cooler)! Not sure if staying at an Elks qualifies as a campground however. We pulled into the Fayetteville Elks Monday and after awhile I noticed a diesel odor and looked under the rig. Sure enough, there was a 12" wide puddle and a very slow drip. Made an appointment to replace a hose and of course getting repairs on the road is always an adventure in it's self and that's another story. After backing out of the site we placed our folding table and portable entry step in the middle to let others know that it's occupied. After the all day fun and driving in 5:00 traffic we returned to find our site unoccupied but missing said items. They did leave us the door mat but, must've really needed those $100 steps. Glad I didn't set out more items!

On to Branson tomorrow. Sounds like there's a lot of moving going on out there...stay safe!

Not so good news gang. I've been in the Hospital since Monday. I've suffered a stroke. It has killed a large area in the lower left rear lobe of my brain. It hasn't caused any problem with loss of function that has shown up yet but it is triggering Seizures. I've had about 20 in the past 4 days. The bad news is I won't be able to drive for 6 monthes after the last seizure. And they are still going. When I have a seizure there is no twitching etc. The muscle reaction is over in about a minute. But, it leaves me unable to talk and form sentences. I recover my speach within an hour and every thing is as before. However I've noticed I've completely lost a few words which I think was caused by the stroke. I'm going to leave the decisions up to my Nieses and will give them plenty of time to think about it so I don't know yet where I'm going or if I'll stay here and hire someone to keep tabs on me and make sure I don't stink up the place. I have plenty of support here so I'm not worried about drivers, helpers, or even housekeeping. I got alternate plans to take care of the Iowa trip. Right now I'll just let the planning get do without rushing it. When I get settled a bit I'll start posting regularly again.

So sorry to hear this, Lee! Take care of yourself, and know that we are thinking of you! Sending good wishes, Dianne & Tom

  5. Directions to Classless Class rally (different location from past two years):

From Hwy. 95 north of Q... east on Plomosa Road... 1/2 mile past MM1. Turn left at large, orange LOW sign (BLM Road #811), go past Chapter 34 to your right, curve to the left and go thru a wash. Turn left and go 3/10 mile. Look for our red Trailblazer and greenish motorhome. The wash is gentle and open… no difficulties for anyone getting in.

Call to be guided in :) 719-849-8479 Dianne & Tom

  6. Hello from Quartzite! Counting our blessings, including RV friends!

Sending good thoughts to those healing from loss, surgeries and illness. Congrats on new babies, new homes, new rigs and vehicles, and best wishes for successful repairs of all kinds (think that about covers it :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Dianne & Tom

  7. As for Borrego Springs... we have spent time there the past two winters and really enjoy the area. Tasty oranges and grapefruit, and nice farmers market each Friday. Some good info on the Wheelingit blog if you search Borrego Springs and Rockhouse Road area. We will probably be there around mid-December into the new year. Sounds like we may have a gathering in Borrego Springs in the making :) Also like the Ogilby Road area, west of Yuma but still in CA... were there last year with Tina & Jeff and Carol & Steve, and Nancy & Dave stopped by for a night. Lots of good boondocking in the desert southwest! Be well, everyone!

    Dianne & Tom

  8. Hello all... we are in Lebanon, Oregon for a few days and heading on to the coast soon... Newport and Florence, in particular before we begin heading south into California. Hopscotching with Nancy & Dave this past month :)

Sounds like some nice gatherings around the country... some rig problems, health issues, and a variety of adventures. Best wishes to all and wishing everyone safe travels.

We will be in the desert southwest this winter, and look forward to a Q gathering.

Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom

  9. Four years ago today we sold the house. Our 2 year adventure has stretched to 4 and not sure when it'll end. Maybe 2 or 3 more before we buy a home base. Still looking for our utopia. Celebrated with unlimited salad, soup and bread sticks at Olive Garden for lunch after we had moved from Charleston, SC to Savannah, Ga. We'll be here a week maybe more.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff :)

Milestones are always fun... congrats! We'll miss you this winter, and look forward to catching up somewhere/sometime down the road!

  10. Is anyone else having a problem with the class map??? I can't see any pins. I was able to change my location to Pocahontas State Park but it still says I am in Williamsburg . Can't get it to change to Chesterfield.

For us, the Class Map pins do not show up when we view the site on our laptop. However, works just fine when using our tablet... so, assume there is some setting to be changed on our laptop.

Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom

  11. Hey, some of us will be in Arizona and Quartzsite!

Congrats to Ed And Lynn, and to Toni and Doug. We WILL be around the campfire in AZ this winter to hear the story.

We escaped to Flagstaff for the weekend. went from 59* to 108* in 3 hours today. oh well, it was nice to get away for a few days.

  12. Wow... lots going on with everyone! Linda & Ron just spent a few days with us... was fun to have them return for a second visit in our campground this summer! Good to have them now on the Class Map (thanks, Jeri).

Lynn & Roger... sure hoping everything works out well for you regarding your RV. Time for some worry-free RVing!!!

Sandie & Jim... you know that we are thinking of you, wishing Jim a quick recovery and some good fishing times up north!

Delcie & Freddy... sorry to know you have had some health issues, Delcie, and that you are managing that and having a good summer. Keeping good thoughts for you regarding Heidi... having an aging pet ourselves, these issues are on our minds.

Sue & Paul... fun to see your house coming along. Hope you are having a blast watching it come together!

Lee... we have a Navion in our campground and thinking of you! Hope your eyes continue to do well and that you enjoy some travels. City of Rocks sounds like a good choice... we enjoyed it there ourselves.

To everyone... lots of heat and weather issues, projects and repairs... stay safe and be well!

    Dianne & Tom

  13. Just got the July/August issue of Escapees magazine and on page 58 who do I see? Tom (tdhomestead) and a fine group of people boondocking in Borrego Springs. Dianne must be cooking something in the RV. We're going to miss the desert and our Class-less friends this winter. A few of us Class-less will be roaming around Florida.

    Stay safe and cool everyone.

    Jeff :)

Yes, thanks Jeff. Fun to see folks you know in a magazine! We felt that when we were new to Escapees and saw the 2012 Quartzsite photo. At that time, Nancy & Dave were the only ones we knew.

As for the current Escapees magazine... great article by Nina (WheelingIt) and the photo by her hubby, Paul, captured the special time boondocking with Canadian friends in Borrego Springs in December 2013. In the photo, clockwise from Tom: Edie, Terry, Karen, Harry, Shoko, Denise, Skip, Jean, and Bob. (Yep, that's "our Denise" in the yellow sweatshirt :)

Borrego Springs is a "go to" boondocking spot for us in winter... look forward to more gatherings this next December/January, and will miss those of you wintering in the east. Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom

  14. I'm up at City of Rocks state park half way between Deming and Silver City NM. I had planned on staying a few days but will have to forfeit my rent and go back tomorrow. It seems the Title for my Navion has gone astray. So tomorrow I'll take the truck over to Holiday World and see if they can trace it or title it in New Mexico and cancel the application for title they sent to SD. They told me you don't have to declare residence to title vehicles in NM when I bought it. Then, Next year I'll re title it in SD and take Holiday World completely out of the process. It went so smooth when I bought the truck in Tennessee and had the Chevy dealer title it in SD then have my mail service register it as soon as the title came to my mail box. I wish I didn't buy a new NM st. park pass now. if I have to title in NM I could have got it for $100 with a NM tag. But I paid the $225 out of state fee just this morning. Grrrrrrrr. I personally think Holiday World forgot to tell SD where to send the title. So it may be at SD motor vehicle division waiting for someone to claim it. My temperary tag runs out the 19th so it don't look like I'll be going anywhere in the Navion until I get this straightened out.

    .

Hi Lee... sorry to hear about your confusion regarding the title for the new rig. Can be most frustrating. We want to share with you an experience we had regarding New Mexico registrations, hoping that you might avoid a similar situation. A number of years back, while Colorado residents, we purchased a travel trailer from American RV/Camping World in Albuquerque. While doing the purchase paperwork, they asked if we wanted to register it in New Mexico. We were surprised, and they told us it was perfectly ok to do that, even though we lived in Colorado. Great, we thought! It was much cheaper, so we paid the fee and registered it in New Mexico... only to find out later that Colorado REQUIRED that it be registered in Colorado. We told the county clerk that the dealer said it was allowed, and she explained that, of course, it was ok to register the trailer in NM, but had nothing to do with Colorado's rules. Ca-ching... New Mexico made a few $ off us unknowing purchasers :(

So, we recommend that you demand that the dealer take care of your South Dakota registration, and get it done once and for all, properly! Good luck! Dianne & Tom

  15. Hello, all... it's been ages since we last posted on this forum but we do read it regularly and keep up on each of you! Much moving around, people traveling here and there... lots happening, too. Sorry you have had more rig problems, Lynn & Roger... hoping things are A-ok now! Congrats on the new home, Diane and Glyn... know you will enjoy it! Hoping the house plans are coming together well, Sue & Paul, and that you had a great visit with your son! Delcie & Freddy... hope your slide problem has been resolved!

Sending out our best to everyone in our Classless Class! Travel safely, have fun, and be well!

    Tom & Dianne

  16. There IS a dump station at the Pima County Fairgrounds, in addition to the full hookup sites... we are there now, and had been told about it by the office staff. Tom just went to see it with his own eyes. Yep, it's there!

We're headed to Benson today... project time at Saguaro SKP park for us next 3-4 weeks. Look forward to catching up with others in the area!

Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom

  17. We are at The Ranch at Lakewood NM. Glyn and Diane Carson from our class are here, enjoying visiting with them.

Will be going to Deming Thursday, [get ready Lee]. Will go to Benson for the last week before the Escapade. Was a little

concerned about a place to fill the water tank until Toni posted the Tucson dump website. There is a campground right across I-10 from the fairgrounds.

    LIFE IS GOOD!!!

    Freddy and Delcie

  18. Big THANKS to the Swains and Porters for the tasty quesedillas and margaritas last night, plus the pinata full of candy! Tom and I enjoyed helping with the serving, but it's important to note that the four of them provided and paid for all the quesedilla makings and the margaritas for this group of Classless folk. So, again, THANK YOU Sue & Paul and Julie & Mike! A tasty, fun gathering!
